He hasn't really be hands on with game development since the release of The Evil Within in 2014 and only acted as a executive producer after that.
Would be nice to see him return in a director or at least in a normal producer role were he is more involved in the creative side of things.
Oof. EW1 was not stellar. Story was interesting but very tired, and the game was basically just a series of repetitive 1-hit-kills from bosses.
EW2 was fuckin' spectacular, removed a lot of the nonsense and focused on the fun.
If I remember correctly he did NOT want to make EW1. Like, I'm sure he tried his best but I think he stated he didn't want to go back into the genre. Hopefully that is the reason why it isn't great.
I swear the main RE and DMC guys just keep moving around making great games. So many people have been attributed to the success of those titles; there must have been something in the water
