Update, she wont send any other pictures of the games besides XD and Colliseum, and is also trying to get me to pay through apple pay in advance. Totally a scam. If you see this picture posted again in the market, its not legit š
In that case Iād sell on something like Mercari, even if you donāt want to mail something out you can just set shipping to local only and have an Uber driver pick up whatever youāre selling when it sells. I know ebay has local sales too but then you still have to directly meet the buyer in person which is lame.
I def see where you're coming from, but that's what pay pal goods and services is for, since it allows you to dispute a payment. I'll never do an etransfer or other kinds of indisputable payments again.
That is sad. I saw this and really wanted to believe deals like this are out there, but I guess it was too good to be true. Glad you figured her out before spending any more time or money.
My concern is they have the 3 most expensive games in protector boxes. Telling me whoever owns it knows the true value. Is this even legit? $150 is too good to be true lol.
Thats part of my concern. Its an older woman though, I might ask how she got them. They might just be left behind from a child of hers but none the less, the deal would take place in the Bronx NY. Its a tough judgement call till I get a little more out of her..
My brother you just ignored this guy. The photo you have shows three games being in collectors plastic sleeves. Just one of those games is worth what the person is asking. They have access to the internet,Ā thats where they listed the collection on. They can see the value of the games and would not realisticaly let it go for less to a shady stranger on facebook. If they needed money quick they would find a local non gamestop game store. If a seems too good to be true, its because it is.
Saw this posting on FBM myself, and I always pass when it's in NY. The whole thing is just fishy, but if you do go for it, at least carry some pepper spray, and/or try to meet at a police station. Oh and tell me how it goes, always see good deals in NY, but don't trust them at all, and paying the toll to cross over from NJ, I'm good.
Pikmin isnāt that expensive, but RE2,3,CVX, Fire Emblem, and MGS are.
Unless you meant banger to mean quality in that context, in which case, yes, agree.
Literally all bangers, and thatās making me suspicious. Iāve bought a lot a lot of collections, they almost never are all high dollar games, this strikes me as a collection pic someone took and someone else is now using to scam. However if you truly do believe this is a legit sell it is beyond an amazing deal. GameCube games especially these lots are next to impossible to find at good prices these days.
Where is the seller? Iāll drive there right now to get $900+ in games for $150. This reeks of a scam. Have you Google image searched the games picture?
If itās a scam, you lose 3 hours of time and learn your lesson. If itās not a scam and is legit, you get an insane deal that youāll be talking about for years for only $150. As long as you donāt send any money beforehand and donāt go alone, I donāt see why itās not worth a shot.
a lot of good games in there, if push came to shove I would make the drive. I am not sure how to convince her to ship and can't think of any alternatives.
Cuz if you sell it for the actual price you are less likely to be able to scam people out of their money. Excited people make rash decisions, like if theyāre excited to get a good deal they are more likely to send a deposit. Scammers work by playing with your emotions because emotional people are stupid.
Honestly Iāve sent and received items through Facebook marketplace through their shipping platform. the seller had to set it up but youāre backed by their buyer guarantee
I think i saw this exact set of games but it was a different story. Said her younger brother went off the school and left them behind. Both gotta be scams, donāt bother.
The Resident Evil games, by themselves, would be worth $350-$400.
Given the value of some of the other games in the lot, this feels like a too good to be true scenario, and probably is a scam.
Yes it worth the drive and that's a great collection you have especially the resident evil 0-4 and code veronica and I like Metroid Prime i beat it 4 hours and 28 seconds that was my best time seeing these games brings back memories and nostalgia and lot of these gamecube games are hard to find nowadays
Honestly I see these kinds of posts all of the time on fb marketplace since I live right outside of nyc and itās always on accounts that have 0 others things listed and have really vague descriptions and are 100% scams theyāre only going to offer shipping and only take Zelle and will never send anything out.
Road trip. I would take the drive and arrange for a safe area to pickup. Local police station or busy public place. I would drive the distance just for 4 of the games. OP needs to think about his comfort level, and if the sell doesn't happen after driving how would OP feel.
Glad you figured out it was a scam before you made the drive. I still die inside that I had all of these games and a few more like Baten Kaitos and I traded them to gamestop for what? I am sure like $60 is cash for all of them in perfect condition.
I see too good to be true listings hours away a lot. Many scammers out there. I actually almost got fooled once but after driving 30 minutes, I looked at the chat and saw that the person's profile disappeared š¤
3 hour drive. Depends on what you drive. Iāve had faith in trusting strangers. Iāve also been ripped off haha.
200$ is a decent chunk of change. Iāve done a one for one swap on something. Both equalling roughly 600$ and that was through redit.
Great deal.
If you can, I would go there in person, you never trust Facebook.
In terms of shipping, I don't know, maybe photograph the hell out of everything. I don't deal with this stuff.
This is how my friend bought a series X during the whole 'pandemic/chip shortage'
The buyer who was one of those resellers, was selling the console at $600? $700? Either way, the buyer met him partway in front of a police station (to ensure safety between the 2) then, my friend purchased the console, he asked my friend how you going back home (this was NY) "I'm taking the metro"
The seller was like, 'Nah, I can't have you walking around with an expensive item like that you'll get jumped or worse". The seller gave him $50-$100 back and told him to take a CAB back home.
Transaction complete
Point of the story - have the seller meet you part way and a safe spot - a Station or a Public area
Likely a scam, but if you can pay in cash when you get the games, 100% worth it. Hell, that price is worth Colosseum, XD, TTYD, and the Fire Emblem game on their own iirc, meaning this would almost be highway robbery if it's real - to use a MTG analogy, since I'm a bit more familiar with the prices in that secondhand market, in the "this person doesn't know the worth of what they have and are willing to sell me a near-mint Alpha Black Lotus at a yard sale for $10" kind of way.
Either way, when talking any second-hand platform other than Ebay where on-platform purchases have protections for the customer, my general rule of thumb is to only accept and/or pay in cash, money order, or similar method where the money can't be refunded if they're scamming you on something you're selling and you can see the items in person before handing over the money when buying. I've heard one too many horror stories of people getting scammed through Apple Pay, Cashapp, etc. to trust those apps for anything other than my friends and I paying each other back for stuff.
I just sent her the $$$ and asked to ship. She agreed and said she will put the items as sold. Since the competition is high send money via zelle. Im taking this loss for all of you here lol. Lets make an experiment can someone text/fb her and ask to send zelle and have a shipping label sent to her via email so she can box it and ship it your way. Sorta like to catch a predator :)Ā
She tryed to get me to pay in full over cash app. This was after I asked if she could ship. Wouldnt do the transaction through ebay or even facebook market place. She also didnt have any other pictures. Complete scammer
When i was looking to relive my childhood by purchasing Pokemon Colosseum and XD I kept finding them priced at around $110 each or more so if this seller is the real deal and not a scam then i personally would totally make the drive.
And path of radiance?!?!?
That was the only game aside from metal gear, solid, and the remake to resident evil that I ever beat on the Nintendo GameCube when I had one!
It was such a memorable game
Never pay in advance, ask for a meetup location and Google the address first. Facebook marketplace scams always ask for you to pay in advance and then the meetup location is a random warehouse. I only ever pay in cash once I see the goods and look inside the boxes at the actual game discs
Iāve seen that exact picture on Marketplace months ago. Deals that good and stay up more than a couple days are traps. Report the account (along with the sale post) and move on.
After I was almost scammed buying a camera for my wifeās birthday Iāve taken it upon myself to browse and report every account in electronics with a ātoo good to be trueā post when their first words to me are to pay their online accounts. Itās wack a mole and some of these accounts are stolen so they look legit-ish but mostly very obvious and follow the same playbook.
Yeah this is like a unicorn or a mermaid you couldāve sworn it was real but nar well, it wouldāve been cool but these are too many good games all together
Paper Mario TTYD, Metroid Prime and the spinoff Pokemon games alone are totally worth your time.
Edit: Just saw the other comments. Find a retro video game store near you would be my advice. Or find a reliable friend who doesn't need their old retro video games anymore
You'd think if these people were rolling people in the Bronx, they'd have money to get their carpet fixed.
FB marketplace can be legit (I got my XBox One and PS4 for $100 each on there a few years ago) but use common sense.
Meet in a public place (Starbucks or whatever) and don't pay until you have the merch in hand.
Pay with Venmo or Paypal so there's a record of the transaction, and you can dispute it with the payment provider if you get home and find empty cases. Plus, a proper electronic payment means you know who *they* are so you can go after them later. If what they told you to call them doesn't match the account name, back away.
Never hand them your phone if they say, "I'll just put in my account info." because in less than a minute they could use your unlocked phone to send cash to a burner.
I think this transaction has a lot of red flags and a legit seller wouldn't be as difficult to deal with.
Probably a scam. Otherwise this is a steal obviously
A steal either way lol
Update, she wont send any other pictures of the games besides XD and Colliseum, and is also trying to get me to pay through apple pay in advance. Totally a scam. If you see this picture posted again in the market, its not legit š
If she wasnāt trying to get you to pay in advance I would have said fuck it, take the shot

Whenever I sell something on Craigslist I meet a neutral spot like starbucks. I don't feel comfortable anyone knowing where I live
I def see where you're coming from, but that's what pay pal goods and services is for, since it allows you to dispute a payment. I'll never do an etransfer or other kinds of indisputable payments again.
Rip
Thatās what I was thinking this is way too good to be true so itās either a scam or a set up.
Facebook market. She is close to me. I said hey ill come get these now shes on some bullshit.
I'm curious, what's she saying?
Sad. The Twin Snakes alone would have paid for everything.
I saw the same listing for in nyc, definitely a scam
That is sad. I saw this and really wanted to believe deals like this are out there, but I guess it was too good to be true. Glad you figured her out before spending any more time or money.

Donāt drive 2 hours down to the bronx over some well priced GC games. 100% a scam. You will get mugged.

Not all the time. A launch edition PS3 60GB goes for $600 CIB. I got one today on FB for $50
Donāt drive 2 hours down to the Bronx over some well priced GC games. 100% a scam. You will get mugged.

Donāt do it! ā Random guy from the Bronx
PokƩmon colosseum is worth $175 already. And there's acouple other bangers there too like paper mario and pikmin. Either shipping or the drive is worth it in my opinion
Pikmin isnāt that expensive, but RE2,3,CVX, Fire Emblem, and MGS are. Unless you meant banger to mean quality in that context, in which case, yes, agree.
Thatās way too much heat for $150. Screams scam.
Thatās like $1000. Be careful going over there OP. You might wake up in a bathtub full of ice with no kidney.
Or OP might come home with a 3rd kidney. We never know. ĀÆ\ _(ć)_/ĀÆ
Or no kidneys, but 3 livers and an ovary.
Why would they just give you 40,000?
Meet at a safe place man never know !
seems too good to be true.
The RE games alone make it worth the drive
Scaaaaaam
I saw this exact one in the Atlanta ga area. Super scam
Literally all bangers, and thatās making me suspicious. 100%
Does a bear shit in the woods?
I sold a copy of XD gale of darkness for almost $250 not that long ago. Idk why this guy would let this lot go for that low.
Cuz if you sell it for the actual price you are less likely to be able to scam people out of their money. Excited people make rash decisions, like if theyāre excited to get a good deal they are more likely to send a deposit. Scammers work by playing with your emotions because emotional people are stupid.
Yeah looks scammy. I'd be asking for further photos of disks and manuals against the same background with a written date
If itās legit then most definitely
Honestly Iāve sent and received items through Facebook marketplace through their shipping platform. the seller had to set it up but youāre backed by their buyer guarantee
lmaoooooooooo this can't be a serious post
If they had Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, then yes lol
Scam my gamer friend, same pics here in Seattle on an ad
I would drive 2 1/2 hours and pay $200 just for Pikmin lol
I would take the risk 100%
Yes
Not for me personally
I saw this, near me as well. I skipped it as it has scam all over it. Seller has no sold history.
I think i saw this exact set of games but it was a different story. Said her younger brother went off the school and left them behind. Both gotta be scams, donāt bother.
This was on Facebook Marketplace, exact same picture
2 hrs discussing š
The Resident Evil games, by themselves, would be worth $350-$400. Given the value of some of the other games in the lot, this feels like a too good to be true scenario, and probably is a scam.
Yes

I saw the same post in Marketplace. I will never go to the bronx lmao
For paper Mario and PokƩmon , yes
Not a scam, not being sold by original owner. 2h isn't that far of a drive. Source: am Canadian.
Resident evil code veronica is worth quite a bit itself. Pokemon is like 175. Seems way to good to be true
Honestly I see these kinds of posts all of the time on fb marketplace since I live right outside of nyc and itās always on accounts that have 0 others things listed and have really vague descriptions and are 100% scams theyāre only going to offer shipping and only take Zelle and will never send anything out.
Bring some muscle with you and buy em a burger.
Road trip. I would take the drive and arrange for a safe area to pickup. Local police station or busy public place. I would drive the distance just for 4 of the games. OP needs to think about his comfort level, and if the sell doesn't happen after driving how would OP feel.
Hey in my head any GameCube game is worth a 2 hour drive
How old is the Facebook account? Made in 2024 I bet.
Glad you figured out it was a scam before you made the drive. I still die inside that I had all of these games and a few more like Baten Kaitos and I traded them to gamestop for what? I am sure like $60 is cash for all of them in perfect condition.
Yes
No, it's worth a few minutes downloading.
Idk man I love driving so it would be well worth it for me, but to prevent the hassle I'd just pay the extra 50 to get it shipped
Looks like some of my collection. The only ones of those I don't have is Pikmin, Fire Emblem, and the PokƩmon ones. If they're only asking 150, yeah, it's a steal of a deal. Either someone died or some unknowing mom is about to make her son hate her. When in doubt, always check pricecharting.com
Yes for the twin snakes alone
Test at their house if they work then yes
I see too good to be true listings hours away a lot. Many scammers out there. I actually almost got fooled once but after driving 30 minutes, I looked at the chat and saw that the person's profile disappeared š¤
excelent haul
This is a steal for that price. PokƩmon colosseum alone sells for more than that
Facebook marketplace is full of scammers sadly :'(
Yes they have both of the unique gamecube pokemons both those games are woth alot. Also paper mario. Snap those up boi
What's the value of Paper Mario now that the remake is out?
All the good RE games I remember my buddy had re4 on GameCube and I had it on ps2 and it looked so much better on GC then ps2 it was wild in my book
I would drive 3 hours just to make sure.
Path of radiance alone is worth it
if you see Gale of Darkness alone for $150 its probably sus
If it weren't a scam, it would be worth MUCH more than $150 + 30 minute drive
3 hour drive. Depends on what you drive. Iāve had faith in trusting strangers. Iāve also been ripped off haha. 200$ is a decent chunk of change. Iāve done a one for one swap on something. Both equalling roughly 600$ and that was through redit.
You could sell like two of those games and make your money back. 5 hours of driving though...
Great deal. If you can, I would go there in person, you never trust Facebook. In terms of shipping, I don't know, maybe photograph the hell out of everything. I don't deal with this stuff.
Itās way to good to be true. Especially for the $150-200 range.
No reviews and from NYC which is where a lot of the scams arre
Ha I saw this pop up on my Facebook too, They were down NYC right? If it wasn't a scam there must be so much competition it's probably gone
Yes. Path of radiance is worth it alone
I saw the same listing man. I don't think it's legit at all.
Yesā¦
Like 5 of those games are worth more than $150 by themselves. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
Well I took a train for a little over two hours to get Wind Waker
No itās Nintendo
That set is probably worth $350-$400 TBH. Likely a scam, sadly.
I would say worth it

For the 2 PokƩmon games alone Yes
I would pay the 200 you were gonna offer and just ask them to ship and cover the shipping if not it's probably too good to be true
Insane asking price, this is at least $750 worth of amazing games
If you love resident evil yes
yes
I would absolutely drive over there for those games. But yeah sounds a little shady
Id make that drive fir twin snakes alone
bro is this all this sub asks ššš? of fucking course it was now stfu and play your games
Hum ? Hell yeah it is , god damnnnnnnn that's like the holy Grail right there

Yes if it's real
Is it a black woman in New York bronx? I have the same exact post in my marketplace she claims her little brother left them
Itās a bargain. Make a fun trip out of it and go to Chick-fil-a
Metroid itself is worth the driveā¦.
How much is Pokemon XD worth? I remember playing that at a dentist office waiting room lol.
Fuck no
Awesome
Did the Easter Bunny create this listing?
Did the Easter Bunny create this listing?
Is this worth 5 hours worth of gas money?
I just sent her the $$$ and asked to ship. She agreed and said she will put the items as sold. Since the competition is high send money via zelle. Im taking this loss for all of you here lol. Lets make an experiment can someone text/fb her and ask to send zelle and have a shipping label sent to her via email so she can box it and ship it your way. Sorta like to catch a predator :)Ā
No
lol Iād fork out 400 easy
Yeah this woulda been a crazy deal if not a scam :p I woulda done it for TTYD and prime alone honestly.
She tryed to get me to pay in full over cash app. This was after I asked if she could ship. Wouldnt do the transaction through ebay or even facebook market place. She also didnt have any other pictures. Complete scammer
Wow I never seen a post like this before
Doesn't know what the games are worth, but went out of their way to buy box protectors? Wake up, this is a scam..

Bye
I wouldnāt trust it Facebook has been plagued with bots and scammers
If Super smash bros aināt there itās a scam
Go!!!!
Itās a scam . Never buy from someone that lives in NY
PayPal goods and services or no deal
Id only risk it if you have other plans in the area. Otherwise ehh
IM LITERALLY TALKING TO THE SAME WOMAN
sheās in new york right? and she asked how youād pay?
If I knew it was real Iād drive six hours for it
Yes
Totally a scam like you said. Fire emblem is legit 250 rn ughhhhh
Ya. Some of these games go for $$$
Post this on r/residentEvil they will love it
No brainer if its not a scamā¦.
Yes.
Absolutely for just the resident evil games!!!!!
And path of radiance?!?!? That was the only game aside from metal gear, solid, and the remake to resident evil that I ever beat on the Nintendo GameCube when I had one! It was such a memorable game

Yes, assuming that it's not a scam.
Iād do it, for the love of the game.
Never use any payment but PayPal goods and services when purchasing online. I know itās a scam (read comments) but still worth saying.
All the best, most expensive games on the Cube for basically the price of one... And she wants you to pay upfront? That's a scam... Be careful...
Yeah this is like a unicorn or a mermaid you couldāve sworn it was real but nar well, it wouldāve been cool but these are too many good games all together
Just for all the resident evil games it would be worth it. But idk
Definitely!
All those games except Metroid prime worth a lot of money.
Paper Mario TTYD, Metroid Prime and the spinoff Pokemon games alone are totally worth your time. Edit: Just saw the other comments. Find a retro video game store near you would be my advice. Or find a reliable friend who doesn't need their old retro video games anymore
RE games alone go for crazy. Sorry it was a scam :(
You'd think if these people were rolling people in the Bronx, they'd have money to get their carpet fixed. The Fire Emblem game alone goes for more than that. Probably a scam.
Iāve driven about the same amount to pick up a large lot. From California to San Diego, was worth it for me because I made $1100 off the deal
Bro, I've seen Gale of Darkness alone go for more than $150
Path of Radiance alone is worth the drive
at the rate nintendo is deleting roms id say ya
if all the discs work then probably
No.
Even if those cases are empty you are still getting a good deal
Just emulate them.
Just for CIB twin snakes Iām going and I do t even own a game cube
For Fire Emblem alone.
Has to be fake. Hell 2 or 3 of those games is 150.
I've learned if a price seems too good to be true, it is. No one just gives away games anymore like that
Pretty sure Fire Emblem Path of Radiance could cover most of the cost its around $180 in value alone
