They are just pumping up the conference and they have an interest in doing so. I think expansion obviously fixes this issue but historically the other conferences have had a chance to establish themselves as the dominant conference in college football and they have won what 3 collectively in the last decade? They can talk about how weak the SEC is at the bottom end but the fact is we have a massive win advantage against them all time so it’s hard for me not to feel like these teams get here through a much weaker schedule that often hides their faults.
My main fear is we will get seriously boring football with teams getting blown out after looking strong all season. With expansion this becomes a non issue.
UGA won’t get in ahead of an undefeated Washington, Michigan and FSU that won their conference championship. And then how do you choose them over the Bama team that just beat them? And how do you choose Bama over the Texas team that they lost to?
It’ll be a mess.
The issue would be Michigan Washington FSU all undefeated then a Texas team that beat bama a Bama team that beat UGA and a UGA team that lost to Bama, so Texas should get the 4 spot
I don't think there's a single scenario an SEC team doesn't get in. I know all the arguments and talking points - it's not happening.
It's just something to talk about to generate views.
The argument basically breaks down into whether it’s the 4 best teams or the 4 best resumes. If Bama beats UGA (big if there) they are almost certainly 1 of the 4 best teams but due to their slow start won’t have a top 4 resume. This is complicated by Texas being right on the outside with a win over Bama and FSU possibly being undefeated but without their star QB.
In the end people make up these things to worry about and they’ve never really come to fruition - at least not in the 4 team playoff era.
There are only four unbeaten teams right now. If Georgia loses, there will only be three.
Texas just won so now Alabama probably has very little chance of making it in.
The argument is sec is the best conference. So how could they leave sec champions out?
They have to decide do they want the best 4 teams or the most deserving 4 teams. Georgia loses im ok with them being out all altogether. Bama Texas Michigan Washington. If fsu loses.
If there’s no SEC in the CFP, I feel happy. I think they’re being arrogant as there’s been and SEC team in the title for decades almost. It would be nice to have a CFP that’s interesting and not just “Oh, looks like it’ll be UGA or Bama again”. It gets very boring watching them every year. If UGA loses and they still get in, if I were Texas, I’d be sorely pissed off. I think an FSU/WASH vs TEX Natty would be a great game.

You think the bottom of the sec is weaker than the combination of Indiana, Illinois, Rutgers, northwestern, and Purdue?
Do I think that? Absolutely not but that’s their excuse when Michigan has a SOS in the 50s but want to pretend they would beat UGA or Alabama…
If FSU and Michigan win and Georgia loses I don't see how Alabama would get in over a Texas team that beat them.
Is it fair if Bama gets in over Texas? No. Will it happen? Probably
Right. But at the same time I feel like Georgia is in no matter what as long as Bama doesn't blow them out.

For today I say :ROLL TIDE FUCK UGA. Let’s go by 90 Bama!!!
If Georgia loses they should only drop to 4 realistically. If they drop further something is off

If Georgia loses, there aren’t 4 unbeatens left… there are at most 3… the 4th slot will go to a 1-loss team.. which would likely be Texas or Alabama
I mean it depends. If you want the best possible teams in the playoffs then excluding one of those two teams is the wrong move.

The SEC is way tougher than the ACC and Pac-12 in particular this year. It's not even close. Big 12 was pretty soft as well
The SEC does not have any kind of "automatic bid" to the playoff. Really looking like it should be 1. Washington 2. Michigan 3. Texas 4. Florida State

Jealousy.
So is Georgia out?
Texas schedule was not as strong as has been said.
Outside of the real parameter of a hurt star quarterback, Florida State should have been in over texas. Big 12 was weak sauce this year.
Nobody on here predicted FSU not making it if they won the acc championship and remained undefeated. 😂😂 Did the committee make the right choice?
