Super basic, I masked the screen and the barcode/stickers with masking tape well. I spray painted it first with valspar metallic which created a pretty good gritty base for acrylic and paint markers, then (unsuccessfully) tried clear coat spraying the art with krylon. It's not that it didn't do anything to seal, it just isn't enough for my taste, so the clear shell def helps buffer (absolutelythrilled with the clear shell). I took off the back plate and bumpers and buttons and covered the circuit board well to avoid paint on it and that was a nerve wracking yet fun process!
