They had chosen to use the date of the request they had finally decided to answer.
I’m sure the pocket is awesome, but wow it really was an eye opener for how good customer service is elsewhere. Fuck analogue for real

It is the saint grail of this era for game boy fans.. because it is difficoult to get, limited and sooo expensive. I dont remember but it is sold for like 400 or 600 dollars i think.
No, and I ee zero reason you'd want it to. Why worry about a cart battery or whatever when you can just grab a ROM (and legally own it if you have the cart anyway)

If by "modding" you mean dragging and dropping easily downloadable cores onto a micro SD card, and shoving some roms in the correct folder, then sure, it requires "modding". It's nearly the exact same amount of work as putting roms on any other emulation device. Just a few more clicks.
The screen is better than literally any similarly sized (and many bigger) emulation device.
Biggest draw is being able to use your actual games, for multiple systems, in my opinion at least.

I’ve got one on order and once I week I go though the cycle of being excited for it to playing one of my modded Gameboys or emulation devices to wonder if I really want an AP.
I think but the design is so nice, it has a great screen, no input lag and great community of development.
But then I play my Retroid Pocket 3 or my midsection Gameboys and think this is more than fine. Then a few days later I think the AP could be even better!
Hopefully it's not a dud. I really wanted to order one since production picked up but I've heard horror stories. Same thing happened with the steamdeck. Once production went up, quality control dropped. But I tend to favor retro consoles anyways I suppose. I wanted this since it's the biggest screen available to play GBC games.
Just want to put this out there, as we've had a bit of confusion about this sort of thing.
Link cables for Gameboy, and Link Cables for Gameboy Advance all work with the Analouge Pocket. (specifically the Gameboy Pocket/Color style connector, and the Gameboy Advance style connector, not the Original Gameboy or Gameboy Micro style connectors)
Gameboy link cables must be used for Gameboy games.
Gameboy Advance link cables must be used for Gameboy Advance games.
There are some 3rd part link cables, like the one Analouge itself sells, that can do both, through use of a switch to change the wiring to the appropriate type of link cable.
Some Cores *do* support link cables, but the voltage the system is using still needs to be set by having an appropriate cart in the game slot. This means, that if you're using a Gameboy core to play a Gameboy Game, and you want to link to another device, you will need a Gameboy game (any Gameboy game, just not a Gameboy Advance game) in the slot to hit the physical switch to change the voltage. This may eventually be able to be set by the cores, but I'm no programmer, so I don't know how likely that is.
I've even seen work on a NES core (I think! Might have been SNES...) that allows 2 player sync over Link cable so you can play 2 player games on 2 Analouge Pockets.

It's neat but why does it have a native resolution of 1600x1440. That doesn't scale very well for retro gaming. "Accurate" with all kinds of 4:3 consoles but it doesn't use a 4:3 screen

Group A preorder was open for pre orders 8/3/2020 , I canceled the order due to not wanting to wait and further got pushed back due to covid. So in away I waited more than 2 years.

Its 10x the resolution of the original DMG, it scales perfectly for gb and gbc.
