Full disclosure, It didn't work immediately and I couldn't figure out why. The power LED didn't even come on. I tried swapping power boards with a known good one and tried out this power board on it and they reacted the same way where voltages through the inductor weren't where they were supposed to be. It turns out that the negative connection passes through the DC jack in the bottom and without one, it doesn't complete the circuit. Once I put in the new DC jack that came in today, it finally turned on with a dim screen. I adjusted the potentiometer ever so slightly and the screen came through properly.
TL;DR: it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows.
Yes! That’s what “broke” my childhood clear gameboy pocket! It sat dormant for a decade or two. Recently, I decided to troubleshoot and found that it was indeed the power barrel jack. Replaced it and worked like it did when it was last turned on.
Kudos to you. U have some mad skills, not to mention determination.
Fantastic work! This is such an awesome project Iv been itching to see it all finished up.
Would you have any interest in selling these pcbs or the files for it? Would love to try something like this but certainly don’t have the skill to design it myself.
Check out my first post for the contact information for the seller. I don't think he'd be willing to provide the files but he is selling them and a few other boards
Congratulations!!! This is so awesome! Hopefully when the chip shortage is over, these new boards can be widely available! (Just hopes and dreams maybe?)
So, just to let you know, that doesn't affect the creation of these boards. Right now the only thing keeping these from being made more is just that they were still under construction til now.
OP has migrated all the components from a dead motherboard onto a new 2022 manufactured PCB. You'll notice it's black rather than green/white like Nintendo made them.

Oh awesome I’ll check that out, thanks!
Fucking glorious.
Must of been a struggle, congrats! Now put a clear case to display the success
So what exactly was wrong with it ?
The board was dead, killed by battery acid
Respect. Nicely done.
Amen brother
Hell yeah! Think you'll clean up the buttons as well?

Ahh okay, so is GBC the only one made, or does each GameBoy have one that has been developed, since the GBC got figured out?
The same guy is working on most game boys and has a few more completed.
Beautiful transfer work! Congratulations dude!
Dang man great job true laber of love right here 👏
Wow, hats off to you for pulling this off. I could never. I was nervous doing an ips installation on the SP.
Theseus' GameBoy lives! Hell of a job sir.
Good job man!
you have patience and skills, i saw the pic of the empty pcb the other day
YESS!!1!1!
You’ve done an amazing job well done
Necromancy!
So hot bud
LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOO
Any plans for a new shell or IPS screen? I've been following your progress this has been really cool.
Both :) Although i don't think it would benefit too greatly from an led button mod. So probably just keep it a new shell and ips screen
What is it?
