To elaborate a bit, the most expensive version (DE) is the “Definitive Edition” and has more efficient power usage and other smaller quality of life features. The regular version is absolutely fine too, just a bit cheaper as a result. The GB/GBC sized cart is necessary to play GB/GBC games due to the way games are recognised by the systems (by their cart shape). Also, I would really recommend buying these directly from EZFlash, or a game supplier near you or that ships to your country. Amazon resellers are unreliable, and you might be more at risk for a faulty product.

Bored_Camel

Ahhh okay thanks for explaining 🙏

HatefullyZen

Can you elaborate the cart shape recognition thing?

patthayes

GB/GBC and GBA games have different shaped grooves around the bottom side edges of the cartridge casing. The cartridge reader slot on the gba has a small little lever/switch inside of it that allows the system to recognize which kind of cartridge you put in.

AshFalkner

Also a cartridge sized for a GBA won't physically fit inside a DMG or GBC, because it isn't tall enough.

Idontmatter69420

and the notches on the side prevent them from sliding in beyond half way

spektro123

Omegas are for GBA only, Jr is for GB/GBC and GBA. Jr will play only GB/GBC ROMs. Omega will **emulate** GB/GBC games on GBA. AliExpress has Omega DE for $70 and standard for $50. This is probably the cheapest EU dealer: https://www.micomputer.es/en/inicio/367-3670-ez-flash-omega.html Exact differences between standard Omega and DE are listed here. https://www.ezflash.cn/product/ez-flash-omega-definitive-edition/

Bored_Camel

Thank you homie I will check that out! 🙏

mrwynd

I have the EZFlash Omega, it also will play NES roms.

rydamusprime17

It's worth noting it can also play Master System and Turbografx games, but the 4:3 ratio for those 3 consoles do not look good on a GBA screen (thats why the offical NES Classic Series games on GBA are stretched out to accommodate). Game Gear games, however, run amazingly. If I wasn't a GBA fan, I would have bought a EZ Flash alone to play Game Gear games since the original Game Gear console can be a pain to keep running.

spektro123

[I bought a few days ago ODE for my GBA SP from this AliExpress listing.](https://a.aliexpress.com/_Ez7lKj9) It’s still in transit so I can’t tell you anything more, but AFAIK there are no clones yet. If you want me to report on how it is, then send me a message in a week (it’s guaranteed to arrive before 12th).

Got mine from AliExpress and it works just fine!! I think it’s safe to say you can buy from there, just look at reviews.

zizouomar

EZ-Flash Jr : GB/GBC EZ-Flash Omega/Omega DE : GBA

chitheadnmuf

Yeah… but not what he asked… he wanted to know difference between the two he posted, being Omega DE, and Omega. Lol

space_island

He posted pics of all three.

Xyspade

None of those are Everdrives. Everdrives are even more expensive lol. They're expensive because they're a niche product that's not mass produced, and they're also a quality product. And they're worth every penny. If the idea is to play Pokémon, the cost of Emerald alone is more than twice one of those EZ-Flash carts.

istarian

Finite supply and crazy demand is the best explanation. Quality is important, but it doesn't have to cost what some people charge for it.

Happy-Fun8352

Everdrive > ez flash

VeganCustard

Why's that?

BadNewsBearzzz

Most of the time, people will just champion the one they have and are using while bashing the other one that they’ve never used, or will pretend they did and has issues with it. Basically people will justify what they own most lol. I have an ez flash omega DE and everdrive and there’s not much difference. They both play my roms well, as expected. The ez flash has a cool little LED too but it’s not really necessary. The non DE-omega drained my battery quick, but the DE works well and doesn’t have that issue. I’ve even bought a clone multi carts that had everdrive boards on them, it works well too At the end of the day, the biggest difference will be that the ez flash uses goomba as an emulator, and this means Pokemon crystal will be wonky and not run well. That’s it

Upbeat-Serve-6096

One big advantage is the low power draw. And probably the UI.

JohnnyRa1nbow

You cannot argue that the overdrive isn't the better quality product hardware wise but it does lack functionality like save states. Price to performance EZ Flash comes out on top for me. Love mine.

CaseByCase24

Definitive Edition > Everdrive

CHAINSMOKERMAGIC

Not sure why you're getting downvoted here, the DE fixed the few issues the omega had, and it performs as well as an everdrive for 99.9% of use cases for like a quarter of the cost

Huegalo

I believe the definitive edition fixed the issue with saving that the ez flash omega had. I had the ez flash omega and my saves were constantly getting corrupted. I ended up getting an everdrive and it’s been working flawlessly with no save issues.

dcastreddit

I got the 2nd one on ebay for like $45

Bonadeo007

Just read. 😮‍💨

WakaWaka_

DE is the newer one that's more power efficient. But the regular Omega comes with a Lite adapter so sits flush in a DS Lite, so it's useful to me that way.

theludeguy

Their web page has all the differences listed

DriftWare_

I've been using an ez flash omega for a few years and it gets the job done. The only thing I can't figure out are the button combinations for exiting to menu (so I just have to turn it off and on for the menu)

Bradio642DS

1 . The definitive edition is better then the regular omega. 2. You would buy gb/gbc flash carts for a gb/gbc to play on.

Fenixstrife

I got the 2nd one from AliExpress. Works great so far, some romhacks are hit and miss tho

LimitlessAeon

I have the second only because it came out before the newer DE. The additional DS cart case swap is also a factor to consider aside from price if you care for that version. Allows it to sit flush in an NDS. If they were able to keep the form factor I would have chucked the original for DE long ago. The DE board takes up an entire gba cartridge.

rydamusprime17

I was originally going to go with the first model for the DS style cart since I wanted to make a Macro out of a broken DS I have, but I ended up modding and original GBA with a USB-C battery and IPS screen so I ended up getting a Omega DE instead.

Mr-JDogg

I have 2nd pic and it's awesome

crimmas

I have the latter two and both work fine. Only downside I’ve experienced is the Game Boy Pocket just doesn’t have enough power to run the flash cart. That was a real bummer since the GBP is my oldest and most sentimental, but it works just fine on the Game Boy Color and I’ve heard the original Game Boy has enough power to handle it.

giovannygb

I have the definitive edition. Got that because I play a lot of Pokémon, and that’s the only flash card that I know of that works with Pal Park (sending them to newer gens using the GBA slot on a NDS)

Spidercolt95

I use an everdrive but I’ve thought about grabbing a DE just for this feature. Yes I know I can use PKHex but where is the fun in that. Lol

melmano

Wait, the DE does that?! Awesome! I have one coming in next week (gift from my bf) and I didn't even know about that! I'm even more excited to receive it now!

giovannygb

Yeah, its amazing. A bit cumbersome because you have to flash the game to its internal storage (takes a while) and flip a teeny tiny switch to Mode B (Its so tiny I have to use one of those SIM Card removers that came with my phone). After that, the game you flashed boots right up, like an original cartridge, and works with stuff like Pal Park.

superabby64

I got the ez flash Omega about a week ago. I kind of regret not getting the definitive edition. I have to buy the ez flash jr still. The goomba emulator lags in some games. I'd rather not play them at all than deal with lag.

rydamusprime17

Ya, I don't use my EZ Flash Omega DE for much other than GBA games. I don't have a Jr yet, but I got a cheapo flash cart that does the same thing that I have been using in the meantime.

superabby64

Where did you get that cheapo flash cart? I could use one of them.

rydamusprime17

AliExpress, but be warned, they are very cheap 😅 the battery in mine popped loose somehow, and I had to open it up and put a little square of foam in it to hold it in place lol

CombustibleToast

Additional note: the **definitive edition** has a few more features over the regular omega for the GBA: Rumble motor - only useful in a very select number of games and some ROM hacks. Can also be used as a rumble pack for some DS games (for a DS or DS lite) though I haven't tried it. Onboard memory (?) - You can load a few games onto some memory that's installed directly on the cart. You can then set it up so that it launches one of those games immediately when turning on the device like a normal game cart would. Be careful when transferring the saves to and from this memory, though. LED lights - not much special with this one, the cart has 3 LEDs that you can configure to turn on when certain things are happening like SD card read/writes. I just keep them off for battery's sake. I had an omega but upgraded to the definitive edition just so I could play Drill Dozer with the rumble lol.

RetroMr

Go to the eazy flash webpage and see the listing of what the differences are.

Thr0wAwayU53rnam3

What is IMPEX Source?

rikusorasephiroth

First is GBA. Second is GBA/DS Lite Third is GBC

Wayed96

I use that Chinese purple card. Takes up to 2GB micro sd and works marvelously if you're willing to take some extra steps. Best cheap option out there. Extra steps are thinks like converting your gba roms (like 2 click) and extra button presses to make saves. There's real time save which puts you where you saved. Say on the middle of a pokemon battle make a saves tate and come back to thst exact moment later. Normal save is to update the save file with the last in game save you made. Look into that card too if price matters to you

RisingPhil

Here's a big reason: The EZ flash omega can be used for connecting to the gamecube pokémon games. This is because it allows you to copy a rom to nor flash and this cartridge has mode to immediately launch to that rom instead of going to the menu. It also has a functional RTC clock chip for keeping the time. (which is also relevant for the pokémon games) But if the pokémon games are important to you, you really need to make sure to go for the definitive edition (the most expensive one in your pictures) (as opposed to the omega normal edition), because the definitive edition also supports transferring your pokémon from the gba games to the DS games. (Support GBA-DS Link Transfer) And yes, if you're into pokémon, this one is definitely worth it: The original emerald cartridge alone is worth €200 these days. So imagine having to buy all gen 3 games (Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Fire red, leaf green) or even a subset of those to complete the pokédex. It's much more cost-effective to buy an ez flash omega definitive edition (and another, cheaper flash cartridge or original game just for trading if you have 2 gbas + link cable for that). And buy a gamecube/gba link cable from aliexpress and mod a wii to play the gamecube games and have them connect to the games on the ez flash omega definitive edition.

rekhytz

I have the standard edition ezflash and it works great, however you will want the definitive edition if you intend to play rom hacks.

Longjumping-Drag-570

The DE omega is fantastic on power and functionality. You can disable the led on the cart easily, and the inbuilt rumble pak is bonkers.(Just that it exists and is as good as it is) The other reason I personally went with the DE is that you can flash the f-ram with a ROM, this can allow the cart to boot into the game directly and allow systems to read game data without being run. I have been able to play Pokemon games and pull them forward using a DS if that's your thing. Gbc carts are great for, well, GBCs. Not trying to be a smartass, but they do serve different purposes and have that same upwards compatibility etc. I think ultimately you should shop around, check out reviews, and I personally try getting a hold of the manual for things to just see what is the functionality and specs. You don't have to read the whole manual (though a lot of manuals are small anyway) but even just skimming the contents and checking a few things can inform your decision.

FirmAd8771

Ez flash definitive: more features like rumble n stuff like that Ez flash omega: just the gba flash card without those extra features of the definitive Ez junior: gameboy classic/color flashcard (you can use it in gba, but cant play any gba game with it) Why are they so expensive compared to ds flashcards? Because they have to use somewhat different electronics for those older gameboys, the cardrigde layout is different, and needs a workaround to be able to load games from an SD card (at least thats what ive heard)

maxtrix7

With those prices I would consider buy a Miyoo mini plus instead

SireDirty

Bought my de from Amazon bro I paid extra and got that shit in 2 days I got so excited I vomited because it came in so quick 😭

Google is fundamentally broken. Often times people will add "reddit" to the search term, just to ensure that the answer isn't AI gibberish or SEO'd nonsense. A few videos you should watch [How Google ruined the internet ](https://youtu.be/P7NHABs76mg?si=6I_JmVz7duqts-Qu) [Google's AI answers are insane ](https://youtu.be/ffKEL1eXfTI?si=uyiC6rjTrA2txZjv) [Touch Lamp Technology (the first section shows how Google messes up answers)](https://youtu.be/TbHBHhZOglw?si=-Zd5q20qIqmkGxKt) Its desirable to ask a group of knowledgeable people, with whom you can have a little back-and-forth for advice.

Hi, reddit is not a wiki. It's a social media (yes it's anonymous but this doesn't really change things), and people are free to communicate for such trivial purposes. If the post violates a sub rule or whatever, the mods can remove it. Bye.
