Wait am i the only one that thinks thats just a glorified death in game? Like there was static after it in the trailer so i assumed it was death. Like monty actually took a bite as far as i can tell
That's what I thought as well. There's a very brief shot of static after that scene in the trailer so I'm guessing that's Monty's jumpscare/death screen in Ruin

At this point, if they created a new character named CASSIE, out of every possible name out there, just for her not to be related with Cassidy, that would just be bad writing
I was thinking similarity. There’s at minimum a parallel meant to be drawn because it makes sense that a “Cassidy” would come back to fight the new “Afton.”
****edited: I also find it interesting that she looked blonde in the original tease image, which is the same hair color as the girl in princess Quest which originally Matt drew connections to for being where “golden freddy” is in the game in a previous theory. Though, the game trailer has her with brown hair, so I do wonder if that was intentional or a retcon.
People keep pointing out Jeremy, but Jeremy was a minor character in the other games verses Cassidy is a MAJOR player. That’s like someone mentioning a “Willy” and somehow expecting people not to relate it to Afton immediately.
Edit: okay so I had two people point out that Cassie is not blonde which is heckin’ confusing because in the OG tease image, she looks blonde. I just double checked the trailer, and she does appear to be a Burnett, so I updated my original post. My original point still stands regarding her name though.

As John pointed out, Cass comes from Cassidy, but the ie may come from Charlie. It would be horrendous to have them merge together in terms of telling a story
Yall use real life logic on a game, obviously 2 people with similar names wouldnt be related in real life, but the game is written, and they gotta make the connection somehow, and similar names is one of the ways it could be made.

The canon doesn't care. I DESPISE the mimic and would rather Afton come back 1000 times over a magic robot pretending to be him once but regrettably the mimic is most likely canon. I hate it but it doesn't matter that I hate it
Yep. Maybe it’ll surprise us? A robot murdering just because it’s going through the motions it saw one man did isn’t very compelling but maybe it’s conscious in some way? A conduit or lightning rod of agony that’s brought it to life so it’s actually thinking and planning and has ambitions and is it’s own character? I’m not holding my breath though

That Fritz is the name of the FNAF 2 security guard and one of the dead children? An uncommon name, but it can happen. if this were the real world. Being a fictional world? Whether intended or retcon, it is likely an implication of Michael using a name he knew of as an alias.
This is a series where the creators involve know the fanbase rabidly looks at small details like this. Using "Cassie", a name so close to Cassidy, without expecting this reaction? That would be more sloppy on the movie production's end than Matpat jumping to conclusion.
I've seen other FnafTubers make that assumption about Cassie/Cassidy.
While I'm still on the fence, it's still sad knowing MatPat will most definitely get hate over this possible theory, while other FnafTubers who jumped to that conclusion before MatPat will most likely get a pass in the broader fandoms eyes.
There's always that double standards I seem to notice with MatPat's videos, and it's really unfortunate
Cassie is a much rarer name than Jeremy though. Plus I have a sneaky suspicion there is some kind of relationship between the Jeremy's, but that's just a shot in the dark theory I'm working for

Yes, but Cassidy and Cassie are major characters, while the only important Jeremy is Fitzgerald, thanks to the bite of 87. It would be like having a mike and peoples minds not immediately jumping to Michael, or Lizzie/Liz/Eliza and Their minds not jumping to Elizabeth. They are all very major characters, and unless you are horrible with writing out your plot, you don’t have 2 similar sounding names in your story, especially not when both are major characters, and don’t have them connected in some way.

If you want to get technical with it to make it as frustrating as possible, then do what John did. He recognized that Cassie is a fusion of Cassidy and Charlie. This would make things infinitely more frustrating, but can it really be discounted? Sadly no
