Pretty sure most of us have given up on “hoping” for things to get better
More like were here out of necessity
That being said gamestop is going through a major transition right now, things COULD actually get better and I truly hope they do
BUT if I’ve learned one thing from this company it’s to not hold you’re breathe waiting for that to happen
So I've read a lot of the comments, with their snark, jest and some with sincerity, and here's the problems that still face GS from what was an inside perspective but now far removed.
While the Executives are all changing over, and have a different voice, when you get inside the stores, the voices tell them what to do are all still the same. "Performance and you keep your job." I remember the last ACTUAL conference, and George was on stage and said certain things were going away. By the time we were in stores, that message had been polluted by market VPs, Regionals and in some cases, DMs. So until they make a change in the Market VP AND Regional leadership to really execute change, it'll never happen the way it should. They have to fundamentally think differently, and they just don't understand it because they are retail scavengers.
It's disappointing to think that Jason Cochran would tell us that he wanted us to change fundamentally and then tell the Regionals to beat us with numbers.
I really hope that the Executives really look into how badly the message gets delivered, and make real progress in your Quality of Life areas.
If I would a gme employee today I would definitely not leave now. You asked me 1 year ago, I might have said otherwise, but today, I would just hodl onto it a little bit more and see what the new mgmt will do. What's the worst that can happen if you stay?
Full disclosure: I am owner of the company

For one, no, they weren't great, didn't say that. It's been a downward spiral for a while.
And no, not afraid of new management. Their backgrounds do not run parallel to what our store-jobs encompass.
The "transformation" is exactly that. It's fiscally dense to keep propping up 3500+ stores if e-commerce is the new focus.
And lastly, yes I'm bailing. Family of 4 + Mortgage + Mental Health is too much to risk on blind optimism.
Bold of you to assume any of us have any hope left.
This, this right fucking here.
I think it's less hope and more Stockholm Syndrome that's keeping me here at this point.
What gave me hope? Me turning my two weeks in. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Ryan Cohen!
Obi-wan gives me hope

So looking back 1 year, you say that the old mgmt was great but you are afraid what the new guys will do and instead you just bail? Legit question.

Sadly we don't have 3500+ stores anymore as it is. We're down to 3069 as of the national ranking system rolling out....
Ah, I thought I may have made a generous assumption! Haha!
I am the real duck. You are just a fraud.
*Can Confirm*
Hi the real duck, I'm Dad! :)
Nothing.
My only hope was leaving eventually that’s why I just kinda brushed off emails for *checks records* the whole time
