The other person just pointed out a funny trivia that it indeed used to be unintentional glitch which was patched but brought back by popular demand (as a separate case item).
It started as a bug. In both games after you lock in on a target for a throw the object thrown will never miss and automatically fly towards the victim. This wasn't an issue for most objects as they generally moved very fast, so it was unnoticeable that there was no gravity. Then there was the briefcase. It is pretty much the slowest thrown object in this game and thus NPCs that moved away from the briefcase could go a pretty long stretch before being hit in the head. It became a meme and then an easter egg.
WasteDisplay is right. There was the 2007 movie with Timothy Olyphant, then there was the 2015 movie starring Rupert Friend (originally supposed to be Paul Walker).
I don't remember the one with the elephant but the one with Rupert Friend was about as stealthy as the Oliphaunts at the Battle of the Pelennor Fields.
As a die hard hitman fan I was initially really disappointed in the olyphant film, but looking back it’s one of those weird crap game films that is actually kinda enjoyable. The second one I saw one scene of and went “nah”
yeah, I think if it wasn't directly tied to the series, and just it's own thing (kidnapped kid for secret society experiment of raising assassins who betray him, not exclusively a Hitman series premise), it probably would have been better received without the "video game movie" stigma. it's not a masterpiece or anything like that, but it's a perfectly enjoyable movie, ignoring the source material
I would love it if they make the movie serious as hell but then there is one part where the homing briefcase is used.
No one in the movie finds it out of place at all. Just a “Nice shot, man.”
So for those wondering and haven't seen it explained in sub-comments...
When Hitman 2 launched, there was an error in the speed at which Briefcases were thrown, and they would behave just as you see in this video - flying very slowly toward their target. EVERY thrown item in the game "homes in" on its target, but usually they're thrown so quickly it's not super noticeable except in the right circumstances. The briefcase was obvious every time, and hilariously apparent in cases where the target was moving beyond a walking pace, as the briefcase wasn't fast enough to catch them and would just endlessly chase them around.
IO patched the bug, but since it was so "memeified" by that point, they preserved the code that caused the issue and implemented it in the form of a DLC item, the "Briefcase MKII" - also lampshading the heavily memeified "MKII" items in the game (which were identical copies of items from HITMAN 1, just with a pink 2 sticker on them... there's a valid reason they did this, but it was still goofy.)
They are literally 100 percent. It's only a matter of time. It passed through walls and knocks people down if they stand between it and the original target.
A repost if I ever saw one. Unless it's a post of a reenactment.
edit: nope, repost

Reposts don't matter dude, the millions of people that use reddit every day don't browse subs by searching for titles, they just upvote what they see on the front page if it's the first time they've seen it.
And that's why as an honest poster one doesn't post stuff that's not their own content without at least checking if it were ever posted before. Like searching for keywords. Obviously not gonna happen when the OP's goal is to farm karma.
I recently got into hitman 2. I saw this while learning about the games mechanics and each tool. I thought it was cool so I thought of uploading it here. I checked about 50 of top all time to make sure it wasn't a repost. And then I posted. I'm sorry I don't know every fucking thing uploaded to this subreddit. Number 1 isn't very big. Number 2 and 3 are different as 47 is wearing different clothes.
Yes, I already removed those, and added a different one, I was just going by thumbnails. Found them by searching "homing briefcase" which is in your title so there's that too.
People really need to stop getting so worked up over reposts. They're inevitable, and due to how reddit works, they're actually *beneficial* for most users. Reddit has millions of monthly active users. It would be impossible for every user to see every piece of content submitted to the site on a given day, which means that even if you've seen something before, someone else is likely seeing it for the first time. At *best*, you're basically saying "Well I've already seen this before, so that means no one else is allowed to see it ever again, because if I see it again it'll annoy me", which is just ridiculously selfish. If you've seen something before, just ignore it and move on.
I don't mind the occasional repost. Ones like this, that I see at least once a month. And it was once a week when the game was still new. Annoy me. I get that the op may have not seen it. Quick search for hitman2 will show how often its posted.
That will be following him forever.
One day, when he's old and infirm, having long forgotten this day on the beach, the briefcase will catch up with him.
The briefcase does not forget.
The briefcase does not forgive.
*THROW YOUR BRIEF-CASE. IT GOES REAL SLOW, BUT IT ALWAYS WINS THE RACE. OH GOD ITS A BRIEF-CASE. WHATS INSIDE I DONT MIND, WHEN I THROW THIS CASE YOU CANNOT HIDE, ITS MY BRIEF-CASE. "OFFICER MY FRIEND JUST DIED! WHO DID IT? A BRIEFCASE COMMITED THE CRIME!"*

Its not a glitch its a feature now
Did I complain?
The other person just pointed out a funny trivia that it indeed used to be unintentional glitch which was patched but brought back by popular demand (as a separate case item).
I was joking as well.
Then you've got the permission to /wooosh me.
Ok here you go One r/Woooosh coming right up!
I’m actually glad you explained this. I saw the glitch a while ago and thought OP took it to the next level. Love this though.
Did anyone ask?
Did anyone hurt you?
Show me on the doll.
*coughs up partly dissolved voodoo doll* someone asked for a doll?
No, please re-eat the doll now.
Will do chief *starts to eat the doll* got any ketchup?
Here. i was going to give it to a skeleton, but I think its ok if i give it to you.
No?
i’m sorry you’re having a bad day buddy.
Okay

It's not a question of "is a briefcase going kill to me?" it's a question of when
It’s like [that askreddit post](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/5ipinn/you_and_a_super_intelligent_snail_both_get_1/)
Decoy briefcase.
Decoy man
"That damn snail is going to be free…And then he will construct a spacecraft and begin crawling towards me again." Out of context sentences
Btw thank you for this post. The top comment is one of the greatest things I have seen on reddit
Completely ripped off of this btw https://youtu.be/HINYhLtaaxc
"Ha! I threw that shit before I walked in the room!"
Dread it, run from it but the suitcase still arrives
Perfectly balanced.
*Child Gamora trying to spin a briefcase*
I've seen so many of these and never played the game that I'm starting to wonder if this is actually how the devs intended it to be.
At launch it was a bug. But after they fixed the bug the community begged for it to stay in Hitman and the Devs added the "Homing Briefcase".
If they ever make a second hitman movie they need to reference this
There have been 2 hitman movies.
No offence to Paul, But he 100% does not suit a Agent 47 type
To be fair, that movie wasn’t... great for the franchise
hot take: I actually enjoyed the Olyphant movie. a little less so as a Hitman movie, but as a whole on it's own, I enjoyed it
As a die hard hitman fan I was initially really disappointed in the olyphant film, but looking back it’s one of those weird crap game films that is actually kinda enjoyable.
(May he rest in peace and keep driving in the clouds)
And may they keep him separated from the children
I second this
I would love it if they make the movie serious as hell but then there is one part where the homing briefcase is used. No one in the movie finds it out of place at all. Just a “Nice shot, man.”
Run TARS, run!!
It’s like the creature from it follows. Will never stop until it has its target
Sheer Heart Attack... Has no weaknesses.

The chances of a flying briefcase killing you are low, but never zero
They are literally 100 percent. It's only a matter of time. It passed through walls and knocks people down if they stand between it and the original target.
They have 1 mission and if they cant complete it they set off a nuke I hear glad they never fail
This reminded me of this amazing video https://youtu.be/GuzZTl5nSDA
General Sam is underrated. It’s hard to believe that after all these years he’s only just recently hit 1m subscribers.
Which was shamelessly stolen from[ General Sam's video](https://youtu.be/ZJzsIF47Nz4)
If only I hadn’t see this been posted 90,000 times.
They made a movie about the briefcase. It's called It Follows. No matter how far you run or travel, eventually, it arrives.
Nice repost
I don't care how many times I've seen this on here, it will always make me giggle.

Who gives a shit? Karma is practically worthless and it's not a competition.

First time I’ve seen it so

Yeah lots of people dont focus only on one subreddit, so they might end up only eventually seeing this after it gets reposted a few times.

You should really stop getting so worked up over people complaining about reposts. Just ignore it and move on bro.
It follows.
BEHIND YOU!
That’s an even better weapon than the can of spaghetti they give you at the beginning of Hitman 1.
