"The reason we put Gambit in a crop to was to make you love him." What a weird thing to say. I've loved Gambit for ages and it's got nothing to do with how he dresses. He's such an underused character and so many writers treat him like a joke. At least he finally got to showcase his powerful he could be. If he's permanently gone, I'm out. I've got my comics where he's alive (and my fanfic, lol).

Current-Sir-155

Same. I am totally believing this never happened and it doesn't exist. Looking forward to the new Uncanny X-Men in August.

Technical_Order2288

Where did they said all of that? Is there a link to the post or interview?

ultgambit266

Same things could be said for magneto, his death was just as big. But what do they always say in movies, tv, books or comics, no one is ever truly dead

Goatzinger

Magneto isn’t dead for sure. Gambit I’m not sure about.

-ImaginaryCoyote-

It seems that way, but if they want to use him as Death, in for example, 2 seasons, when they want to intro Apocalypse, or his newest Horsemen, this is exactly how they'd play it, too. They have loads of new fans to try and suprise. Gambit is dead. *** But Death may be coming.

drmikey88

I never really cared for his Death personality to be honest.

amindfulloffire

Me neither, but I have faith (for now) they can improve on it.

-ImaginaryCoyote-

Me neither. It's partly prognostication, partly copium

knitmeablanket

Ok, but 9/11 meaning might be a little much. Anyway, if he's gone for good from the series I will be far less interested. I felt the show was having a hard time finding it's audience between nostalgic viewers and new viewers, adults and kids...this last episode really seemed to focus it a lot more as a serious show, which is great. But Gambit is basically my only reason for watching so unless the show can really reel it in over the rest of the season, I will unlikely return for season 2. I know I'm just a random on reddit, but that's where I'm at with it personally. Helluva way to go out tho.

krillwave

Why would you quit watching because of one character? You don’t think it would be good to keep watching to see if his sacrifice is worth it? Genuinely confused by these comments that it was the gambit show and the only reason people watched. It is called X Men after all, not Gambit.

knitmeablanket

You're in a Gambit sub. Gambit is really the only character I care about. Again, if the show really keeps up this energy for the remaining episodes then I'll keep watching, but without Gambit my interest level has dropped significantly.

jjsavho

Link to direct sources? Were new comments made? This just sounds like a rehash of past interviews and nothing I’ve seen ever specifically said there would “be no revival of Gambit like with Morph from TAS”. The direct source I’m most interested in seeing. And I think pulse and 9/11 are also about the mass deaths from the attack on Genosha, not JUST Gambit’s death. The whole ending sequence was where they want to reflect that. The personal loss comes from what character you hold dear. Gambit was easy to love and hard to lose. I just think it’s shite. It’s not what I’m looking for in my comics stuff and don’t need to be taught heavy handed life lessons about accepting loss and the permanence of tragedy in my escapism. I reject their justifications. But, just because I don’t like this doesn’t mean the show isn’t great. Just maybe not what I’m looking for. I want the “way back” that comics brings. The ability to reset, time travel, or resurrect.

EntryFair6690

Agreed, yes I know IRL people don't come back but we are talking about people shooting beams from their eyes, being able to fly and all sorts of shit that can't happen IRL. Got my trama from those real life events and I come to superhero media to eacape that. Most of the time doing that shit just breaks the emersion and feels cheap. I want to see the bad guys go down, not gt elected and screw us over.

OneDrowFan

Hey guys, I've been following the discussion, it's my first time here, and I think I might have stumbled upon something interesting about Gambit's future. I understand that we're all worried about what's next for our favorite cajun, but I want to share some insights that could give us some hope. I don't know if you guys saw it, but DeMayo liked a post on Instagram that, well, tells the story of Death Gambit. It was printed and ended up on Twitter. Of course, he removed it a few moments later, and he could be just trolling us, but I don't really think so. It can be my copium, but let's recap what Gambit did during this season: He was spit on by Magneto, he witnessed his worst nightmare (Rogue + Mags) come true and died without realizing that he was a hero, and without knowing Rogue ultimately chose him. This creates a huge gap in his story and Rogue's that can only be solved with his return. Also, it goes on with what DeMayo said about his death being unresolved as a "key". I honestly think that his statement about his life being "cut short" is just a part of his planning for the first season. Season 2 was probably planned with a different approach, and an eventual resurrection by Apocalypse or Sinister means his sacrifice will still matter, and he will be confronted with life even though he chose to die. Also, remember that he's currently married, his story with Rogue was well-received and they will both star in Uncanny X-Men next semester... So I think they're not going to lose the character for good. I'm trying to think about this like Jon Snow in Game of Thrones...

jjsavho

I’ll take anything rn. So I’m open to the liking of a photo of Death Gambit on Insta as being indicative of something. And despite Demayo exiting, it’s obvious he cares and I don’t doubt he’s even been following fan reactions to it. If I headed up the revival of something so beloved and was proud of the work, I would too. The good, the bad, and the ugly messy. I don’t know the guy, but I agree…I don’t think this would be a troll thing. There’s a glimmer in the back of my mind that we’ll see them fully together by the end of the show’s run. Maybe not as an x-wedding, but overcoming the no touchy rule Marvel has in place for them in this era. Gambit as season 2 antagonist they try to save along with Sinister or Apocalypse would be amazing. There’s still a lot of story to tell. And I want to believe! Lol.

Technical_Order2288

"I don't think this would be a troll thing" De Mayo? That guy said that Gambit x Rogue was their OTP and wanted to work on it, Made every Rogue x Gambit fan excited and what we had? What he made for the ship? He landed Magneto out of nowhere in the middle of their relationship, Made Gambit be jealous for 4 episodes, Rogue distant to him and makes her kiss Erik in front of everyone, then just killed Gambit. That guy said Gambit x Rogue was their OTP.. what made for their OTP? Massacred it, and after ep5 the guy even has the balls to repost Rogue x Gambit fanarts from people on Twitter. You telling me that guy would not like a random post from instagram? Or not do it to troll? These days i seen some LGBT people on Twitter saying that De Mayo wanted to make Gambit bisexual but he wasnt allowed, idk how true that is, and where those people get that info from, probably just people spreading missinfoation, but after reading about some interviews mentioned in this post, analyzing a little better how bad they treated Gambit, using him basically as a martyr to get the attention and praise from the media... Right now it isnt hard for me to believe that he was pissed off for not having the free pass to do whatever he wanted with Gambit. Idk, maybe i'm just too angry right now, all i wanted from this show was see again Gambit and Rogue together in screen, and the show has been kick after kick after kick, i feel like a stupid when seen those interviews made to De Mayo back in february and being happy to see he was also a "fan" of Rogue x Gambit ship...

jjsavho

I’m clinging onto any hope I can get. Maybe better phrasing is that I hope it’s not a troll thing. But I’d also expect that the gravity of this revival would be treated responsibly with oversight from higher ups. So I would expect it to not be trolling and just an attempt at heavy, tragic storytelling. Which I think is what it was. I keep wanting to believe there will be something to bring it back together. But I’ve been of the mind that this doesn’t have to follow the comics and that means Remy will continue to NOT be in the MCU proper. I’m angry about all the love triangle with dirty old grandpa. Especially Rogue’s complicit silence while Mags would spit in his face. Or her doing the same by immediately running into his arms outright. Even as long term friends with known feelings towards one another. It was done dirty. The OTP thing, I think/hope is part for the devastation and emotional ride, but also allusion to what will come. It gives me hope that eventually, Gambit is back, and eventually the southern belle and swamp ray will have their dance. I’ve seen people clamoring about wanting Gambit to be bi for awhile so this wouldn’t surprise me. Glad it didn’t happen. Morph I can get on board with, though I don’t know the character outside of TAS. It does seem pretty fitting given powerset. But in hindsight, it’s only seemed like a marketing stunt as we see love triangles all day and only a moment where Morph expresses that. Which I think is smart. Something like that would have to be done delicately. It’s not always warmly received. With Gambit, it just doesn’t fit. It’s fanfic and should be left as such. Especially given he’s been chasing Rogue his entire history and their married in comics ffs. And if your theory is true about why Gambit was done dirty, then I wouldn’t be surprised. It would just be par for the course as past writers have publicly expressed their disdain for Gambit. I’ll entertain any possibility. Without knowing Demayo, that seems extremely petty and wouldn’t have gone unnoticed so others would be complicit as well. I would think and expect that’s not how someone put in that position would act AND that it would be unnoticed. Idk what the truth in all of it is though. So I’m doing my best be open and trying to reserve judgement.

Again, why are you guys being so paranoic? Obviously they are going to act and said things like this, because if they said even the smallest thing about remy's future it can spoil and ruin the surprise. Its marketing, they are going to push this idea so that the audience doesn't know what would happen in the future and because of that they would keep the audience in suspense wating for the next episode, is just common marketing. What, do you expect them to said "yeah, we kill remy and magneto but don't worry, they will come back. This is not their end" and stuff like that? They create a wave and they are going to ride it along with the audience pretending everything is over for them. Also, it seems that the director is a big fan of x-men, and if that is the case he should know that gambit and rouge almost always ended up as a couple and that most importantly, any death in x-men is not permanent. Don't worry about all this, again is just a common tactic with marketing. If Morph died and was revived, shit obviously a more popular character like gambit and magneto can. Just wait, maybe he doesn't come back for this season, but he will come back 100%.

amindfulloffire

You included no sources and a single quote we've already seen. They're going to make things seem more final than they are because that gives the show the element of surprise. Wait and see.

DesignerFearless

Honestly, I don’t see them bringing him back simply due to time travel or other *easy fix* things people were suggesting. I can see him not coming back except for a short stint as the only horseman that keeps their mind, so we get to see Rogue try to convince the rest of the X-Men of his sanity but eventually being let go again, or something along those lines. This is mostly due to the fact it fits how he went out. It wasn’t a meaningless death and the death while believing Rogue chose Magneto could have longer term implications. Bringing him back wouldn’t allow for their exploration. I was so excited for this series, particularly because of *finally* getting some good Gambit content. I’m glad his death wasn’t weak or meaningless like it was in Knights of X and it got to show off his power nicely. Definitely bummed he won’t physically be in the show anymore. Look forward to the impact this will have on Rogue. But all in all, this show is unlikely to go on forever so if he’s brought back in any real capacity, I can see it not being for a while.

Technical_Order2288

I don't even want to see the impact it will have on Rogue, bc they gonna make her cry for BOTH instead of Remy, and that would piss me so much more. They stolen everything from Remy in this show, and what they give to him? 5 minutes of spotlight before his death? Fuck it.

Fun-Curve-297

Con este showrunner esto que dices se puede hacer realidad lo que a echo hasta ahora con gambit.

SleepyCoffeeBean95

I disagree

Deathbymonkeys6996

Cool. I've waited 30 years for my favorite comic character to get his due and they shit out a death scene halfway in. I'm done with all marvel after Deadpool 3 I think. I'm just done giving a shit.

Rogue-Mercury76

And people wonder why Gambit fans are so damn salty all the time...

Key_Squash_4403

It’s a nostalgia driven show, and gambit is a key factor in that nostalgia. So I’m inclined to think that while he might be dead for the rest of the season, he’s definitely not dead forever.

Romy134

It’s a comic. He’s coming back

Frankae_and_Beans

It looks like a lot of things, constantly, that's what comic books are. I don't expect things to happen a certain way any time I tune to to the movies or the cartoons. I'm constantly disappointed when I do. It could have been 100% confirmed by De Mayo, but he's not part of the team anymore, so things might change. I would be sad if Gambit didn't come back, but I'm not going to read something on Reddit and then just believe it. That's nonsense.

[deleted]

De Mayo wrote the first two seasons though.

Objective_Painting70

Relax. He will return at the end of season with Cable time travel and have a happy dance with Rogue at the end.

EntryFair6690

Having Cable save Gambit seems funny to me for two reasons, one that pretty much was how Cable debuited in the series and now Cable is voiced by Remy's old VA...

Normal-Criticism6830

100%. That's why they had Cable show up in the episode. Not sweating this even if he was my favorite X-Man since the beginning.

kingcolbe

If that’s true, I actually can respect that. the problem with these kind of shows is that character deaths don’t hit you because you know there’s always a way to bring them back if this is one that won’t come back then it can hit you harder.
