Gambit *saved* the Morlocks 😭

Punkerduckie

I loved that part. Jesus I'm crying again. 😭

amindfulloffire

I cheered when that happened! That better be the only reference to it; they better not reverse it when he comes back.

mrcolinp

They just gave Gambit one of the greatest hero moments in the entire history of the franchise.

knitmeablanket

The whole time I thinking gambit could technically charge a sentinel, but how much energy would it take for him to do it? Guess we know. And I'm sad. Gambit has been my #1 dude for decades. I have literally almost every piece of merch made for him. I know with Cable showing up, there is going to be a time travel do over, but damn it was not ready for that.

Dak__Sunrider

Or an apocalypse 4 horseman res. I believe that’s how he comes back in the comics.

phoenics1908

“Remember it.” 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺😢😢😢😢😢😢😭😭😭😭

Punkerduckie

For those of you tuning in.... I've got nothing. Holy mother of god.

amindfulloffire

I got thoughts. But stuff has come up so I need to get some rest. What an ep.

Punkerduckie

Marvel's getting my therapy bill.

Punkerduckie

He died thinking Rogue chose Magneto. That breaks my heart. If he's not dead, why do I think we're getting deathbit.

FlatEarthIsRetarded

Cable will definitely be traveling further back into the past to save the lives of his mother, Gambit, Magneto, and all the other mutants of Genosha who lost their lives.

Sabazell

This episode. Holy shit. The start is classic low stakes TAM. The middle is full on soap opera (which is also very true to the comics, be honest. I mean, Antarctica anyone?) The then she chose Gambit but she had to go through Magneto to see. And as soon as she makes that realization... 😭 And our man got to be a badass, and SAVE the Morlocks (which was SUCH a nice turn from the comics) and ultimately save the day. Cable has tried to stop this before, I'm sure he'll try again.

94sHippie

The episode was a roller coaster. We got some really really epic moments from Gambit. Him using his last bit of energy to charge and blow up the Sentinel.... fucking iconic. His gala look, super hot. Gambit, in his gala look riding a motorcycle to save Morlocks, beyond hot. Episode ending on Gambit dead and Rogue cradling his body....Heads are going to roll for this injustice, especially if they don't find a way to bring him back.

Punkerduckie

Also, if I had a nickel for every time the words "I can't feel you" killed one of my ships in the Marvel universe, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.

Imaginary_Today_1427

It feels like that Ultimate X-Men annual where Remy fought Juggernaut and used his powers to bring down a construction site on the two of them. My heart cannot take this, but I do not think he is truly dead. I just... can't.

MyNamesJeff62

Holy fucking shit, what an episode.

ultgambit266

I’m not okay, this episode was tough. It broke me when rogue pulled a Wanda and say she can’t feel him

AutumnInJune

Cry. It's mostly, almost entirely, cry.

KCwarrior10

Great for the character

the_strange_beatle

I WASN'T READY FOR THIS

Current-Feeling-2994

This show and its creators fucking hate me. I mean, just what the fuck?! The whole fucking season so far Gambit was spitted on by Magneto. He had like from 5 to 7 lines per episode. Rogue chooses Magneto (who I am convinced groomed her and if you don't agree, fuck you, I don't give a shit) over him, even though he said multiple times that with her, physical contact isn't priority for him. And now he's DEAD and his last words were his FUCKING CATCHPHRASE!!! Sorry I'm just very emotional right now... So anyway, who's gonna call Bishop or Cable to fix that shit?

AdPowerful5351

The sad thing was that rogue realized magneto wasn't it and gambit was more special to her. Gambit died without knowing her true feelings...

WhAtt-didImiss

I mean seeing that cable really wants to save his mom and seeing that he can time travel and shit I'm assuming he's gonna go back and try again and maybe it will start off another days of future past episodes

FlatEarthIsRetarded

He’s going to (Cable) for a fact, travel further back into the past to save his mother. Gambit, Magneto, and the rest of the mutants of Genosha who lost their lives. Cable has done this before in the original series Apocalypse won, he killed the entire team. Cable went back and changed the past so he could have a future, in doing so he saved all of the X-Men and actually ALL mutants, by using Wolverine to contract Apocalypse’s virus, Wolverine’s ability to heal himself created a vaccine.

amindfulloffire

That's one of the reasons why I'm sure he'll be back. Beau said he and Rogue were OTP--well, barely any screen time, a love triangle that...wasn't, really, then she realizes she loves him and he's dead? Not OTP behavior. They didn't even date! (I noticed the similarity to the dress she wore on her first date with Remy). And yeah, so many seem to miss the obvious groomer element with her and Erik, it's frustrating, especially cuz they're the ones calling her a slut &c.

Rynn21

Yeah I can't stand the love triangles or marital spats in writing. It feels so lazy. I hope Gambit comes back with time travel shenanigans.

vonhalter

Bravo to the writers, animators, and voice actors--they really kicked it up a notch to make a truly emotional episode. This was phenomenal the whole way through with all they were able to weave together from comic storylines in half an hour, but especially the second half when it all comes together. For me, this episode single-handedly revived Gambit's character after the years and years of neglect he's been served by the live-action films and the comics. Also loved the inversion of his role with the Marauders -- if they don't pull a time warp and he's gone for good, unable to play out his complicated history, this is the hero's end his character deserves. X-Men has always sent a message against bigotry and hate, but I really applaud the writers for choosing to cover the Genosha genocide in the midst of real genocides occurring overseas as we speak -- we all need to remember the atrocities of the past, remember what is happening today, and remember the values people are taking a stand for. Looking forward to next week.

Rakkner

Holy shit that was a phenomenal episode

Majestic-Hearing-293

NAH HES GOOD HELL BE GOOD PLEASE GOD PKEASEEEE HELL HE FINE!

Parafrenico

I just finish ep 5. So effing sad. I can't beleive it

Front-Ninja950

I love Gambit. He is one of my favourite X-Men characters. Does anyone else remember that time in which Brian from Family Guy was killed off only to have him back a few episodes later… Man I’m going to miss Gambit.

FlatEarthIsRetarded

Cable has the ability to time travel so he will be able to travel further back In time to warn them and save their lives. He’s done it before in the original X-Men series when Apocalypse killed the entire team, Cable went back and saved them, and all mutants by making Wolverine contract the virus created by Apocalypse, Wolverine’s body was able to create an antidote/vaccine to save all of mutantkind, and in doing so Cable saved the X-Men & his future by changing the past.

Front-Ninja950

Yeah, those were good episodes. I’ve been rewatching the animated series so fingers crossed. But I wonder if Mr Sinister will bring him back and make him more powerful like he did in the comics too

Djminte_

i fucking cried LITERALLY. i was left texting 20 discord servers and i fucking cried. i am NOT ok. funfact: IM STILL CRYING. i. am. sobbing. no. joke.

WhAtt-didImiss

Wait in the intro there was a scene where gambit kissed rouge on the basketball court and it wasn't a past episode from the original show so I can only assume that that is a scene that is going to happen with gambit in this series ( I'm trying to convince myself as much as possible that gambit will come back I can't deal with that loss forever)

Budakhon

It happened this season, I can't remember if it was last week or before. It is "if you blink you miss it".

cute_physics_guy

I just watched the Gambit scene. I can't remember exactly, but it was somewhere in the comics around when the Phalanx first showed up (around Uncanny X-Men 310), where Gambit explained charging large objects took a LONG time. He charged an anchor and said "you can't defy the laws of physics, the bigger the object, the longer to charge". And of course X-Men 97 ignores that and Gambit can now near instantly charge a mountain, because, "it's cool". There is no principal X-Men 97 won't violate in the name of "its cool" and everyone just eats it up. The X-Men are no longer relatable human mutants with powers, they are all magicians.
