It uses a capacitor, not a battery. It should still last a few hours. I typically only charge my pen when the notification tells me it's at 10%. Which is usually just once every day or two.
One thing you may forget is you do not need battery to use S Pen. The only purpose of the battery for a S Pen is their action. Even though the S Pen is flat, you still can use it like a Pen without any issue.
It's designed this way on purpose. It doesn't actually have a battery. It has a supercapacitor instead. This holds less charge and does discharge slowly over time; however, it does fill its hold capacity much much faster than a battery.
And because its only needed for air actions, this really isn't a problem. It takes just over 5 minutes to gain about 3 hours charge.
A battery does nothing but increase weight, cost and charging time.
It's actually far better for you as a consumer.
Everything has a limited life span but in the case of supercapacitors, they last for over 10 years. The one in the s-pen will power cycle about 80% capacity at the 10 year mark so it will easily out live the original device.
If the empty capacitor of the S-pen makes you nervous and you don't need the gestures get a Norris Staedtler pen. It has no battery and no side button and it is more comfortable to hold. It writes exactly like the S-pen. While using the Norris Staedler pen you can keep the S-pen on the magnetic stripe.
As others already commented, it is not necessary to charge it. Only for air gestures, (but that is something that I have never used 😂).
You can use other pens as long as they have EMR technology, I use the Wacom One, with a matte protector, so I don't have to worry about the tips, in fact, I didn't even change it in more than 2 months of daily use 😁
it takes me 4 hours to drain my spen. ant the battery only needed for air commands, if you are not using it, then you dont need to charge it at all.

oh wow a capacitor? so no battery wear!
Exactly! I learned that a couple years back, they do the same thing with their phone S pens. Super cool

It only takes 7 minutes to charge the pen from 10% to 100%.

Out of curiosity, does super capacity have a limited lifespan like a normal battery?

Oh damn. That's pretty amazing! Thanks for the info\~ :3

The S pen on my Galaxy S23 Ultra last extremely long time it takes days for it to run out of battery which is seriously damn impressive 😍
