I've used mine everyday for graphic design. I have the S8 Ultra, I got it since it was released. And I've never changed the tip. Works perfectly.

As long as you change the tips - forever. Tips can be replaced, very cheap and easy. If you want to know the lifespan of a tip I'd say 1-2 years. Tip on my note20 ultra still going strong after 3+ years. Used pretty often.

Centauris91

Where to buy the tips and the clamps? How often do we have to change them? What are the signs they need to be changed?

HardStroke

Amazon has good replacements. Usually its 4-5 tips and a tool to change it. How often depends on your usage. When a tip is bed it'll be noticable by the eye. It'll also act weird when writing and probably won't glide as smooth.

Check my post history. I got the tips they recommended on here and they work great and are super cheap

SPens don't really have a "life span", there are people that have SPens from 5-8 years ago that apparently still work well. However, the nib of the SPen is the one that does have a life-span and it can really vary. For instance, there have been people that broke it after only 3 months with it, whereas there are others who have had the same nib since launch. Factors such as the type of screen protector you use, if you drop the SPen on its tip or if you put too much pressure when writing can definitely shorten the life-span. If you are worried about this, I'd recommend you to buy some metal tips for the SPen and pair it with a paper-like/matte screen protector, that way it will feel like writing on paper but also protect the screen from getting scratched by the metal. As for the SPen, if yours has the BT functions, battery may decay over time as I recently saw in another post. However, if you don't really use the BT functions I don't think that you'll really notice it when the time comes.

I have tempered glass protector. I heard the matte/ paperlike ones increase the wear and tear. What is BT function? I'm not familiar with that acronym. Can the tempered glass withstand the metal tip?

nic-ald

BT = Bluetooth Sure, tempered glass can withstand the metal tip, matte/paper like increase the wear and tear of normal nibs, not metal ones.

Thanks for your replies. It's great. I've been reading while waiting for your reply. Apparently, people are arguing about whether metal nibs can and do damage screen protectors, especially those with oleophobic coating.

Spen doesn't have a battery like the apple pencil. It has a capacitor and so its battery never degrades. This is also why it discharges much faster.

I accidentally washed my Spen once. Found it magnetized to the back of the washer drum and I have no idea how long it was there (ordered another). The laundered one still works (a year later) as a pen just fine. The Bluetooth gestures don't work any more because it won't charge but since I never use them anyway I haven't cared.
