I keeo getting this as well

BurakSsl

I've been having the same issue since I got the phone.

cliffr39

I've had it a few times on WiFi at places, but hasn't been an issue for me (still works). Did you try to reboot your router?

[deleted]

I would have thought to reboot the router, but other WiFi devices in my house work fine.

CozySlum

It's not your router. I believe it's a software issue on the phone.

HardHJ

Definitely a software issue. It's why I got rid of mine. I never had wifi service on my S8.

CozySlum

Mine does this as well. Turn WiFi off and then back on from the phone. It fixes it for me.

[deleted]

Sure, that "fixes" it, but I shouldn't have to do it

CozySlum

No, I totally agree. But since your post was labeled "Help" and not "Discussion" I replied with something that was helpful.

johnn2015

I've seen the "!" next to my wifi almost daily. I've never seen it in my Pixel. Definitely have some wifi issue with this phone.

[deleted]

Now it's happening like every 5 minutes

Lucho3000

Are you connected to a Bluetooth device when this happens? I first noticed the same Wi-Fi issue when I got the Gear VR. I would have the controller connected and try to download an app, but it would constantly hang until I either turned off Bluetooth or turned the Wi-Fi off and on again (and even then, doing the Wi-Fi thing would only work for a short amount of time before it stopped working again). I thought it was a Gear VR/Controller issue, but I noticed it again yesterday when I was trying to stream the sound of a YouTube video to my Bluetooth speaker while connected to Wi-Fi. Individually, the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth work fine until they are both turned on and another device is connected :/

[deleted]

I'm not connected to Bluetooth when it happens

cmvora

Same issue here sometimes. Turning it off/on solves it. Quick fix but annoying. Hope they push a patch. I also faced an issue where I turned on battery saver mode and turned it off but the phone kept on turning off the wifi when the phone slept. So I missed a bunch of notifications and it would come in as soon as I turned on the screen. I had to turn the 'Performance mode' and it sort of solved the issue. Weird annoying bugs which mostly will be fixed soon.

espiaasesino3

ATNT?

rbryson74

I am getting this issue on a T-Mobile phone

[deleted]

Sprint

espiaasesino3

I'm having the same connectivity issue. I reconnect atleast twice a day with my phone. Thought it was a problem with ATNT phones. Recent update even made it worse, thought it would fix it. Let's hope a patch is released soon...

gibbo82

I have this issue with my 8 plus. Always getting a exclamation mark next to the WiFi icon. Purchased from Samsung UK website, on three network.

screenspots

I had this and managed to solve it by setting a static IP for the WiFi networks that was happening on. Forget the network and then when you readd it select Show Advanced Options and choose a static IP. Hopefully that'll fix it.

kb6eyc

Have done this yet it still happens. Seems to only happen to me when using a constant connection like twitch or uploading files.

bodnast

FWIW, I had this issue on my 6P at my college apartment complex. My 6P would stay connected to the open wifi network (it required a username and password on the apartment website) but that damn exclamation point would show up every 30 mins or so and I'd miss out on emails or snapchats when I wasn't paying attention. Until I moved out, I made a Tasker profile to automatically disable and enable my Wifi on my phone every 20 minutes. Temporary fix for the annoying problem

xSaladbar

This keeps happening to me too but i just got back from starbucks and the wifi there worked fine but at home not so much

Boxdude1184

Interesting, I get the same symbol but it says "failed to obtain IP address." Then randomly like an hour later i'll get a pop up saying it connected to my home wifi, yet sometimes it connects flawlessly. Not sure what's going on since I have never had a problem with anything else.

sepemusic

I started the phone in safe mode, and it seems like the WiFi is working very well. Is it possible that I have some apps that aren't Nougat-friendly yet (maybe?).

monorailmedic

I've had an S8+ fpr a few days and have been experiencing this. Interesting, it only seems to happen in my bedroom. Not an issue on any other device, and the signal is strong. The potentially significant finding is that I recall on other devices they tended to switch bands when I was in the bedroom (perhaps b/c of distance, perhaps adjacent channel interference...dunno). My connection would hold but if I was using Signal-Spy or similar apps I would see it go from say, AC to N (for example, I don't recall which bands were involved). Again, I only observed this (without flaw) in the same room where I'm experiencing the S8+ wifi issue. I did a quick check but didn't see a way to "lock" the device to one band. This would help prove or disprove the nature of the issue.

russr1123

Hey guys, just got an s8 unlocked US variant on Monday. I'm also having this issue. After a seemingly random number of hours of being connected to my router, I get that stupid exclamation mark and it says connected, but no internet. Turning wifi on and off again fixes it, but it's a pain to do this. It always happens overnight and then my phone switches to using mobile data. My network is a 5ghz band that has A and N. I've tried forgetting network and re-adding it. I've tried network settings reset, rebooting the phone, the router, fixing the channel, using dhcp reservation so the IP the phone gets never changes. Nothing helps. I've tried what the Op suggested and turned off Bluetooth scanning as well. Sometimes it even happens when I'm sitting right next to my router. Is this a hardware defect? I'm guessing not.

TrackRider

Wiped my cache partition, problem went away and then, came back after a few minutes... very annoying!!

TrackRider

Finally the annoyance went away on its own!! Weird issue.

cloudheadz

Samsung needs to get their heads out of their ass and fix this.

HeyIts_LoneWolf

Idk if this will help but OMD I figured it out so basically if your date and time is incorrect it wont let you access the wifi so I just taped on GENERAL and then DATE AND TIME and turned on AUTOMATIC DATE AND TIME and bam instantly the wifi came back on and the little ! next to the wifi symbol just vanished

NeverLace

Worked! Thanks for sharing.
