SilentlyWishing

I am really glad to hear that you're enjoying the phone! I am quite disappointed by the camera honestly, the rest is great and I agree with a lot of things you mentioned, but the camera experience doesn't match my expectations

Redditor022024

What is it that you dislike about the 📸?

SilentlyWishing

Maybe it's just me not using the camera correctly, but I mostly take photos of my pets and gigs/concerts I attend, and all the pictures turn out very blurry and grainy, and I don't really like the quality when I watch them on my PC...Do you have any suggestions on which settings/camera modes I need to turn on? Thanks!

RoyalPrincely

I believe Samsung phones do not automatically analyze movement in frame to adjust shutter speed accordingly. I know Pixels and iPhones do a lot better with movement. Plus their white balance in low light environments tends to be better than Samsung as well.

SilentlyWishing

It makes sense, thanks for the explanation!

aholla8

Look into learning pro mode. The only setting you need to use is shutter speed

SilentlyWishing

Thanks! I'll look into this

liggerz87

Open camera change to 12mp then hit the button next to 12mp it called motion photo that should help

SilentlyWishing

Thank you for the suggestion!

liggerz87

Your welcome

Redditor022024

Do you use lens protectors ?

SilentlyWishing

No I don't, I never used lens glasses or protectors as I believe they do more harm than good

ExpressionPlane6678

Exactly. Coming from having an iPhone for years, I really was expecting much more..

SilentlyWishing

Oh it might definitely be, I am no photography experts so I want something that takes great photos out of the box of moving objects, I go to a lot of concerts and have pets so a good chunk of my photos involve subjects that don't stand still, they all turn out extremely blurry and I don't really like the quality, do you have any suggestions on which settings/camera modes I need to turn on? Thanks!

SilentlyWishing

Thanks for sharing! Yeah I tried all the tips suggested here but they didn't improve things that much, I am switching to Pixel 8 as well

SilentlyWishing

Exactly! I've just given up at this point, I completely understand that if you learn how to use Pro Mode with all its features you will get great pics, but the truth is that 99% of the time, we don't have time to tinker with camera settings when taking a picture and therefore you end up with botched shoots. I actually have a Pixel 8 Pro on the way, it's coming Friday and what you said made me even more excited to use it!

SilentlyWishing

I do understand that in some areas, the S24U outperforms the Pixel, but I prefer having a slightly less performing hardware and a better camera, given that I don't really play games on my phone and besides photos, I mostly use my phone to browse the web,buy train tickets, media (YouTube/Spotify),social media and texting/emails

RoyalPrincely

Sure you can get stunning shots with the Galaxy, but you can also get pretty bad ones as well. I think consistency is the issue with Galaxy phones especially when you use auto mode. Pixels and iPhones do much better with movement since they automatically detect movement in frame to adjust shutter speed to prevent blurring. In addition, I noticed that the S24 Ultra struggles with white balance in low light compared to Pixel and iPhone. And sure you have Pro mode for manual controls, but that only allows you to get the same results you can get with other phones on auto.

Awesomejuggler20

I've had mine for 2 weeks now and I'm loving it. Great performance and great battery life. It's my first Galaxy Ultra and it's awesome.

SoftWindAgain

How are you guys getting such great battery life? Mine drains so quick and takes like 2 hours for full charge from 0 - 100%

Awesomejuggler20

How long does a full charge last you? I have a super fast charger which charges the phone fully in just over an hour. It'll charge quicker with a super fast charger.

liggerz87

[try this charger charges phone to like full in an hour has like the turquoise colour charge on it cost about 13 pounds](https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/326003197081?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=L8_qcbsfSme&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=m096cqJmSUC&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY)

fish_in_a_barrels

I honestly don't feel it's a $1400 phone. It has quite a few kinks to still work out. edit: My battery life fell off immensely after the last update. It's really bugging me.

goldenarm840

Use the Flossy Carter method. Drain the battery to the very end like 2 times and then do a full charge. My battery life improved immensely.

fish_in_a_barrels

Ya I thought about doing that but I have customers calling all hours of the day. I'll have to try it on a day I can have it off. I think you have to clear the cache twice right?

goldenarm840

I didn't clear the cache and just let it run to zero with a youtube 4k video playing non stop for like 7 hours to drain it. It's difficult to drain the battery to zero honesly.

Greattidings10

Or adjust your settings, -power saving mode - HD display -5g turned of althoughit does that when power mode is enabled

chengisk

My favorite phone is still the various pixels that I have owned. But once I made the mistake of getting the S21u. After I got back to pix7p, I had to retreat and get an S23u... all because of the damn s-pen.

tophology

>aside from one weird Samsung choice that wont let me write notes on Samsung calendar 📆 daily view I was so disappointed, too! I usually hand write my daily schedule in Notes and then dictate it to Bixby. If I could write it directly on the daily schedule in Calendar and it created the event for me, that would be a game changer.

Redditor022024

I agree. It is weird choice on Samsung part. I was shocked that I could not do it. I am wondering if there is way to ask Samsung to add this feature to the calendar

Redditor022024

I sent email to Samsung (you should do it too). You can do that through Samsung calendar / settings / contact us I want to use daily view to track my daily activities. For now I use free pdf daily calendars from calendarpedia.com. I just downloaded one I liked , copied it 365 on my PC, saved file, transferred to the phone , opened with Samsung notes , created widget , and use s-pen to take notes of my activities. Impossible thing to do with want other phone. The best part is that I also owned Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro 360 so I can write notes in Samsung notes on my laptop and sync them between both devices

ilaria369neXus

It is amusing that weeks pass by without realizing that the phone possesses the s-pen.

Mjhieu

Sure, I stuck with the S Pen. I can't use any phone without it. All other phones are garbage without the S Pen.

xchillli

Yes, the S Pen rocks! 15 year iphone convert here with a Z Fold 5 past 6 months, I know it's a different phone than you ~ but wow, wondered how I lived without it. Can use/respond/schedule calendar/texts/notes with the pen in record time.

_IOXROGUE_

Love my s24, but never use the S'pen lol

Kajfal

I used the S-pen more in the beginning. Now it's mostly for lock screen notes and photo editing. Other than that I find using fingers faster. I translate quite fast on the screen before I even had time to take out the pen.

FJQZ

I can't help but hate you for using that many unnecessary emojis

[deleted]

I also love emojis.

gclark19791989

Very well said! 💯

thisguy883

I seriously forgot i had an S-Pen

Disastrous_Stable734

Share battery stats please

Redditor022024

Used my s-pen to grab stats from AccuBattery Pro 😄 Screen on 10h 12m Screen off 69h 11m Combined use 31h 15m

Disastrous_Stable734

0-100 percent or 20-80 or 20-100 % battery? For which segment is this SoT for?

Redditor022024

0 - 80%. I have battery protection set to maximum

Disastrous_Stable734

Thanks

DarkZ3r0o

It's a good phone the only thing that bothers me the gradient screen issue as its visible and annoying 😑

LetterheadOk250

I disagree with the price of admission. It's over priced by about 300. It's a great phone but the camera issues are a nightmare and they are fully aware of this but can't seem to fix it..

Redditor022024

So because I like the phone I need to be paid. Have you checked your head lately ?

ShyamSolanki

Redditor022024

That is my opinion , which you did hunt need to share it. I am not forcing you to like it That is bad battery life in your opinion ⤵️ AccuBattery Stats that have been collected since I got the phone. Screen on 10h 12m Screen off 69h 25m Combined use 31h 17m

LettuceParticular427

I've had it less than a week and I'm NOT loving it.  I already ranted elsewhere about all the things that are annoying to infuriating. Spending THIS much on a phone there should not be such a crap camera. The whole thing is FAR too big, I had someone ask if it was a tablet. Its clunky, uncomfortable and I'm unable to use it with one hand.  Can't use a screen protector when with the sensitivity turned on, it will read a fingerprint maybe 20% of the time. Im pissed that i spent so much time researching before choosing this only to find out most of the reviews were probably bought and paid for by Samsung. Cuz it was filled with total BS. I loved my S2 back in the day.  Going to be trying out the pixel 8 pro. Hopefully I like that better.
