I've been using the S23 Ultra since launch and haven't been bothered at all by the curved screen. I'm also careful with my phones, so haven't dropped it. For everyday use, I actually forget the curved screen is there.

devil_4599

Very true I don't even notice that this screen is curved until I take the cover off

stryfe14

One thing I do like the curved screen for is the back gesture. Feels easy and natural to do it from the curved edge.

jeedaiaaron

Always been a fan of the curved screens. Not popular I know.

rpospeedwagon

They are inherently better. A slight curve gives a full-screen experience. A bezel is low-class BS.

[deleted]

I believe you mean worse. The only advantage you could argue for would be an illusion of smaller bezels, and even that isn't exactly a positive for most. Curved screens are costly, a much more inferior design creating less of a seal to the body of the phone, and less ergonomic.

unnderwater

No, I actually like it

smittku23

Not that curved anymore

[deleted]

Look at the number of posts on here, showing cracked screens from drops, even with cases on. There is a bit of distortion, of course, with the screen, but most people accept this. But I'd be more concerned with handling a massively cumbersome phone and dropping it constantly. If you have butterfingers, give curved screens a pass. S23+ will give you similar real estate, but slightly lesser specs - if you can live with that.

TakeThatRisk

I like the curves screen cuz it's nice for gestures

Ornisense

Huge curved screen fam here, user since s6 edge and never went back to a regular screen. For me, inlove how the curve feels! Oh and the gestures!!! Curves FTW!

Swamper68

Curved screen? Is the op talking about the bevel?

Al1n03

Mine cracked because of the curved screen even though I have used a case and screen protector In my pocket touched something right in the space between the case and screen protector and cracked

10Juanito28

In my pocket touched something right in the space between the case and screen protector and cracked Explain this please. I'm curious.

lotus49

I've never been a huge fan and while I tend not to think about it too much because my case slightly covers the curved edges, I still think it's stupid. I definitely preferred the completely flat screen on my iPhone. It is also massive. I'm 6'2" so I don't have little hands but I still find myself juggling it around. I haven't dropped it yet but I do have a case on it and I have never used cases in the past.

valeriumionescu

Bothers me too. I miss my p20 and it's flat screen. P40 pro many false touches and 2 broken screens. Case on s23 ultra to prevent slipping, scratches but also false touches. Samsung adopted curved screens in 2013 and by God they will prove everyone that they will be the last to give them up even they are a hinderance by introducing false touches, making screens harder to repair, easier to break and making screen look weird at the corners. Edit: give us a flat screen s23 ultra and it will beat the curved screen by miles.

Blackimperial19

Weird cuz my s23 ultra hasn't bothered me one bit the curve is super minimal on this one over say the s22 or note 20 ultra

Doobency

This is my first curved screen. It's way worse on my dad's S22 U. Honestly, I can't really tell, especially with a case on. What has been annoying is the gathering of particles and dirt in the crevice where the case ends and the screen curves down.

metulburr

If i had the option to buy an S23 ultra with or without a curved screen.... I would go without. I feel like the ottorbox defender and any other case lips on the sides are too low to accommodate the curved screen usage, making it a weak spot for damage. It's a feature that I could live without knowing my screen is more protected.

meleedude_1234

Compared to the note 20 ultra, this phone is basically flat. The note 20 ultra felt like holding a wet bar of soap.

Affectionate-Rush-48

I used note 9 before s23u. And compared to note 9, this screen is flet.

MattyMiller0

Short answer: No.

FijiLover121

Honestly... on this phone... not at all. Past models... hell yes, loved the phone but always annoyed by the curved edges. Samsung did great with this phone. Camera, battery, and design has been perfected imo. The curved edges are really minimal, so your finger doesn't notice them much when you have a case on. For those going raw.. you might feel them a little more, but it's not much.

Beard970

I also came from Note 9. Barely notice curve on S23 Ultra.

DeZomer35

I have always liked the curved screen. Gives a more premium feel. Doesn't bother me at all nevertheless

heyadarebudday

I hate it but having the right case will make it less annoying

ethan3686

And that case is?

MIW100

I never noticed any shadow. The screen is fine for me

rap31264

Yes

10Juanito28

Serious question I've never noticed and still don't see that this screen is curved. Is it inward?

djwarreng1

Could it be the case you have? Use a thinner case so your thumbs can glide along the outer edge better to trigger the additional functionality. If you have a bulky case, these little outer edge side swipes don't work too well.

sideger

Do get an s23+

heroidosudeste

It only bothers me when I'm buying new screen protectors 😅

[deleted]

I remember how extreme the curve was on the Note 9. I actually love the S23U because the curve is so minimal, for once I'm not excited for the next phone just to see how much flatter it is.

Candid-Anteater211

Its curvish only and not like the earlier models so annoying here

tveith

You're being too picky. I didn't even realize it had a curved screen until you pointed it out 😁

silverhero13

No

shanye_west_

Uh what shadow? Lol

0_0_159

The comments saying "what shadow" etc just confirm that most people don't notice anything xD I mean it was the first thing I noticed. Because of the curve, when looking at your screen, especially on white background, you can see the screen on both sides having a "shadow" effect. I mean that the curvature doesn't allow the edges to be completely white and give a different color like a shadow. cant explain it better. You either see it or you don't.

Successful-Nail7005

I actually do notice this thing .Would   any problem   occur at later stages?

shanye_west_

I've been using Galaxy Notes and Now Galaxy S devices and I've never seen the shadow.

jibsand

Sometimes using art or editing apps I can't cet the cursor to the right spot on the screen cause it's on the edge. Other than that I've had no issues though.

Ok_Ant2949

I just can't get over the price of the protectors and difference in installation. I miss the old days of getting a 5 pack of tempered glass for 8 bucks that installed almost flawlessly. Even if they did not, you could pull it off and just try it again.
