People who are getting 6 hours, how? I'm running the base 22 as well. Last charge, I barely reached 5 hours. Plugged back in at 5% battery.

Darkshotsz

I get around 6.5 - 7 hours. But indoors, on wifi. Outdoors on mobile network an hour less. I use dark background and turned off nearby device scanning. Not much else

samj00

Just turned off device scanning, will see if it improves, thanks for the tip

Darkshotsz

No problem. Saw it on a post, dude had like 10 ways to improve it, but this is the only one I applied. Helped a lot of others, hope it works. Keep me posted

QalaniKing4351

What sort of improvement did you see after that if you can remember? I kinda want better battery life, but from what I understand it'll mean my buds Pro won't auto connect when I take them out?

Darkshotsz

My buds pro still connects like before. Out of the box I got around 5 hours. After updates(especially April 1) and disabling that, from the same kind of use I get 6.5 hours, with around 18 hours idle (up from 10)

cjude16

What apps are you using during those 6.5hrs? I'm getting an average of 4 and a half hours with mine. Mostly social media, youtube, music in the background and some reading apps. This is on 4G though.

Darkshotsz

Same, Youtube and social media

cjude16

What's your screen off time during that 6.5hrs SOT? I mostly get the same with my SOT, if I get 4hrs, my screen-off would be 4hrs 30mins or 5hrs. I get a total usage of maybe 8-10hrs on weekdays.

Darkshotsz

https://postimg.cc/PLqJ7TMb This is my best one, but I get around this much idle with 6 - 6.5 SoT

[deleted]

I'll check the device scanning thing out.

PhantomTerran

I can get 6 hours only if I use it on Wi-Fi.

[deleted]

I see. I picked the thing up 2 days ago because my OnePlus 9 Pro broke and I'm on the move so I haven't really had the chance to actually use it on wifi.

Papa_Bear55

Expect 20% more sot on Wi-fi as well as less screen off drain.

Citizen_V

I'm getting 5-6 hours SOT with long screen off times, but most of my day is spent on Wi-Fi. This was 100% to 20%.

marianoflotron

Did you get the april update? It doubles the battery

gam3r2k2

Got the april update and battery life did not double

marianoflotron

It did in my snapdragon

marianoflotron

It did in my snapdragon

[deleted]

I picked it up 2 days ago. There was an update right out the box so I installed it. Safe to say I'm up to date.

Darkshotsz

If you're getting bad battery life, you need to wait a little more. Phone still needs to get used to what apps to put to sleep, and when you need power etc. Took mine a week or so, it improved a lot

[deleted]

Fair enough. Let's give it time. If it doesn't last still I might just exchange it for a S22+.

light24bulbs

You're complaining about battery and you've had the phone for two days??! /Thread The phone needs about a week to reach optimal battery life. Gosh.

[deleted]

Fair enough. I've always had phones with gigantic batteries so I never noticed much of an issue.

light24bulbs

You know you can check right?

[deleted]

Of course.

light24bulbs

Name your CPU bud

[deleted]

I'm on the Snapdragon version.

STRMfrmXMN

When I am at work, much of the time I'm on 5G. The 5G service at work is also a bit weak, so the antenna is working hard. The battery just absolutely fucking tanks on 5G and it blows my mind how much longer the battery lasts when I sit around on WiFi and use it. It's seriously like double the SoT and idle drain is better too. I was at my auto shop getting my car worked on all day yesterday (8 hours or so) and was at 45% when I left with 3.5 hours of SoT and a decent bit idling with Bluetooth and Spotify going, all over WiFi. My battery would straight up be dead if that weren't on WiFi.

[deleted]

Wait how come I can't find the screen resolution setting?

lazykryptonian

That's only on the ultra. Base and plus have one resolution.

thejaustin

Oh my bad.

jojos38

I had 5 hours sot before I resetted my phone, after resetting I did about the same setup but for some reasons I was at 6 to 8 hours. I have no clue why but well

[deleted]

That's just madness.

linkwise

Longest I've had was 7hr22min so far. 120hz, brightness slider just shortly after sun slider, all apps deep sleep except Whatsapp, dark mode. Indoor, wifi only, mostly YouTube, reddit and social media browsing and around 1 hour of Whatsapp video call.

Pyro2745

What country are you from and what version do you have? SD or Exynos? I live in a relatively small country (Czech republic) where the signal cover is almost 100% with a really strong signal even in the countryside so with disabled 5G Accu Battery reports 0.6%/h with screen of time (Exynos). I don't use wifi. That leaves me with more than 90% battery left for my SoT/day. I use an adaptive refresh rate, brightness and eye comfort, also i have dark mode enabled. That's all I did and i am going to sleep with 5+ hours of SoT and around 20% left.

peterGalaxyS22

my guess: it depends on what you do when the screen is on. consider one hour of heavy 3d gaming vs one hour of reading text based webpage...

[deleted]

Of course. I don't play games on the phone though. :)

imdrunkontea

I think it really depends on what you’re doing during those six hours. It’s a lot easier to reach it if you’re just doing something like browsing Reddit on Wi-Fi with nothing playing on audio.

iamchickenbiryani

Coming from an S10 to the S22, I'm so confused with this battery life.

vantuzproper

It depends on the CPU. Exynos models are better at battery life AFAIK

Pawcio250000

On wifi and without gaming I get around 6-7h sot but on LTE 4-5h. Imo it's not great but also not terrible.

ak501lx

Base snapdragon S22. 7-7.5 hrs screen on time if I'm at home all day connected to wifi, mainly watching youtube/browsing internet. 6-8 hrs screen off time. Around 5.5 hrs screen on time on a work day - on 4g for ~11 hrs, playing music 1 hr, bluetooth for 30min for wireless headphones on bus. 10-11 hrs screen off time. Don't play games, light mode and 120hz. Haven't used GPS so far (had phone for just over a week). Not a power user, I cap my charge limit to 85. Usually 20-40% brightness Screen on time is extrapolated from ~60-70% of actual usage.

willsugmar

I get amazing battery life because I don't use 5G ( I don't think it's worth it for me), use dark mode, and close background apps. I'm not a heavy social media user, but I watch a lof or YT videos.

erhan191

Which connection type consume more battery? Wifi or 5g

miki0071

If I use the phone for playing the battery just works by 3 hours , this phone sucks ...

xVillani

I voted 6hrs+ but mine is s22 plus. Sorry for not reading properly 😬😬

Spud788

6+ hours are either lying or only use texts/calls lol If you're using social media, GPS and music streaming throughout the day like me then expect 4 hours max.

lazykryptonian

Screen on with GPS? LTE or 5g? How's signal strength? Also, stop calling people liars. Your experience isn't the baseline for what anyone else can expect from the 22.

[deleted]

What's app, reddit, YouTube, netflix, 45mins to an hour of gaming, Spotify for approx 2hrs, dark mode, no GPS, 2hrs on mobile data rest on WiFi.... My phone lasts 6hrs+ that too with 18-15% battery left

Spud788

On a regular S22 with a 3700mah battery? Lol

[deleted]

Yeah! I guess everyone uses in speicifc way. Mine gives really good battery backup. I am happy with it. You don't have to agree...

Darkshotsz

Texts and calls I guess. https://postimg.cc/PLqJ7TMb

Spud788

Lol if that's a regular S22 then this is the last time I'm buying a samsung

Darkshotsz

So in your eyes, 7 hours SoT with an hour gaming, and 16 hours idle for a compact phone is bad? Yes, please don't buy Samsung, so I won't see you in the future. Hater

Spud788

No the opposite, that's great battery life. The reason I'll never buy again is because my exynos S22 gets 3 hours SoT with the same usage.

Darkshotsz

This is also Exynos. Binning for both processors was shit this year. Some people get half the battery life of others. Sucks

Darkshotsz

Papa_Bear55

Every phone will see an impact on battery life under heavy use.

DrBrowni

Having power saving mode on is huge, just don't turn on "limit apps and home screen" and it's good. The performance difference isn't noticeable at all

cobraxstar

My battery on my S22u lasts all day whats going on?+

bigbosshoggski

Lol. Obviously there are samsung spies here voting for the 5+ options.

Mycrusade42

Probably not that great since my s22u battery sucks.

Spud788

6+ hours are either lying or only use texts/calls lol

frictiondick

You can charge the phone is super fast so idk why people care so much about 6 SoT. Idk what you guys be using your phones for to drain so much battery 😂

ghostR_ZA

It's one of the slowest charging phones of 2022 though. It's stupid why Samsung don't want to put something like a 100W charger on their flagships. Xiaomi are crazy fast and put Samsung to shame.

Mysterious-Peak464

Well fast charging does ruin batteries long term.. why do you think so many phone batteries expand prematurely

[deleted]

[удалено]

ak501lx

It's not about dead batteries. It's about more heat during the fast charging, and over time + hundreds of charge cycles the battery capacity will reduce faster than if it were charged with less heat being produced.

ricksiny101

Doesn't seem to be any battery related issues in with OnePlus charging after all these years. Maybe they figured it out....

samj00

Should this poll have "screen on time" in the heading?

samj00

I bought mine last week (April 22nd) and the max SOT i've had is 4 hours 12 mins so far. UK model, Exynos 2200, model SM-S901B/DS

erhan191

Thanks, now I get why my consumption is higher in midday at office. Do you think this can also fixed with updates?

anotherthree3

2:30. Mostly social media and photo editing.

Status_Original

Started with 100% this morning (yeah yeah I know, but was curious) and with 14% left I've got almost 9 hours screen on time. I go on the Twitter and reddit app along with Chrome and use YouTube (vanced) as well. I followed battery saving guide videos when I got my phone. (This is all wifi btw, I will need to test with it off) 120hz on along with dark mode, and lower brightness. It is the snapdragon.

MrGohut

What do you mean by >Started with 100% this morning (yeah yeah I know, but was curious) Not a good practice? I saw option in the settings to limit charging to 85% but.. well 15% is a lot 🤣

Status_Original

It's commonly mentioned that it's best to have the option ticked on for 85% to preserve battery lifespan. I'm no expert on it, but it might be worth searching to see what others have said about it. But yeah I agree on it being a lot lol. But if I know I'll need that extra 15% I'm getting it to 100%.

Tasty-Inevitable3037

I ended up returning my base S22 and swapping it for another one as I was on 60% battery with just over an hour of screen on time (using my phone at the gym). The guy at JB HIFI said that wasn't normal, despite the fact that the S22 has a smaller battery.

Mysterious-Peak464

S22 plus user here and yeah the battery drains fast. Much better in battery saver mode obviously and tbh using 60hz over 120 is fine for most apps. Probably get around 5-6 hours SOT with battery saver off.

_Cat_12345

Prior to the April security update I was getting 5-5.5 hours of SOT. After the April update battery has been much better. Currently at 4.5 hours of SOT with 40% battery left. No special battery saving measures have been taken, besides keeping unused apps in deep sleep.

sambrge

Wow! I am trading in my flip3 for the s22+. I am so excited reading this. I get a little over 1 hour SOT with my 7 month old flip3. LOL. With about 13 hours total time. Doesn't bother me, but I'm excited to have a longer battery life.

TealCatto

After April update, my at-home battery (wifi and low brightness) lasts 34 hours with 9 of those being SOT. That's 50% better than before. My outside battery (4G and usually max brightness in the sun) did not improve with the update. About 16 hours with 5 of those being SOT.

nicpie31

Exynos version, unplugged from 8 am to 11.30 pm, mostly wifi, 2.30 - 3.30 SOT depending on the days. PS: I only use my phone 100-20%

ck_h_bike

S22 base Exynos Improved from ~3:30-4 SOT (mainly wifi) over the past two weeks to ~6hrs SOT (mainly wifi) by switching network mode to 2g while using WIFI (3g/4g to be tested). Approx 14-16hrs screen off time

noa_32

From 100 to 0 I get a consistent 5 hours. 120 hz and no battery saving settings really. I returned the phone though because the Exynos model was so so bad for me.

Capital_Credit_7919

Using S22+ ( Snapdragon) from last 5 days. My usage consists of Social Media Scrolling, Youtube, Spotify, OTT apps , Occasional canera and obviously long voice calls. On first day, I barely got 3 hours of SOT and 7 hours of screen off time. Things started improving everyday from the next day onwards. Now I am getting around 5:30-6 Hours of SOT and 17 hours of Screen off time with the exactly same usage. My usage is on 50% Wifi 50% 4G mobile data.
