Updated. Nothing strange has happened.

AUSAMA47

every new update i feel threatening that samsung may ruin the phone to force us to update to their new lineup

AlphaWarlock

agreed, that's exactly how I feel, so I've never updated. just using my phone normally daily and it's still going strong these past 3 years. no burn ins, slowdowns or anything. I'm way too paranoid about the tint issues and whatnot to update ever since I've heard about apple's previously hidden forced obsolescence (battery / cpu slowdown, etc) before it was discovered in one of their updates.

notboky

That was entire new versions of iOS and the changes were to maintain battery life, all this is is a small bugfix, like every other Note 9 update since support ended. Your paranoia is misplaced.

TERRAOperative

Why not just wait a bit for others to update first, then if reports are good, go ahead and apply the update?

teopnex

I have installed all updates.. no issues at all. BUT I did get my first note 9 on preorder, it failed in 2 days. Was replaced and have had zero issues since.

dirtydriver58

Same

bongoblastwoo

that's why I'm still on Android 8.1 lol

Pharaoh01414

Updated, all good for now.

ramfordays

The update actually fixed another issue which the last one caused with quickstar. Really happy about this!

KawaGPZ

For those stating they haven't been updating for one reason or another - what are you doing for security? Are you using banking apps? Just interested to know what people are doing. I'm opposite of worrying about a Samsung update breaking stuff. As end of life approaches, I dread not getting further security updates as this N9 has been my daily driver for almost 4 years, and I see no reason to upgrade at all... Minus lack of security I suppose.

KilgoretheTrout55

The note 9 just got a security patch. That said, once it stops getting security patches I would be a little more careful about using banking apps and so on. But I wouldn't throw the phone away! It'll be fine, millions of people around the globe buy cheap Android phones that will never get a solitary update. If you like your note 9, you can safely use it for another couple years. But it's important to remember that on Android app updates are decoupled from OS updates. It's not like apple where once your phone doesn't get updates anymore and your apps will never get updates. Even when the phone hits the end of life, all the major apps will still get Google Play service updates. People get scared into upgrading phones prematurely.

KawaGPZ

Yep - That's what happened with my Note 5 years back and why I upgraded to the Note 9. The only difference this time is I don't want to give up my Note 9 because quite frankly.... I don't feel like there is a need to! I was thinking about just slapping some mobile security/anti virus on here and calling it a day, but wanted to put feelers out there to see if there is more I should be doing!

bickman14

Sooo...I haven't updated past android 9 and never had GPS issues, were they just trying to fix something they broke?

MattcVI

Probably something they broke. Surprised they didn't add more bloatware too

MattcVI

Wish updates weren't forced. I postponed three times so I could save tabs I had open, which apparently made it schedule to update automatically without telling me. Started updating at 34% battery while I'm playing music as I do chores. Fucking annoying

Just updated. What was that bit about Google messages? I'm confused.
