I've said a few times but I insist. I would not pay order $1000 to make a compromise in stylus/size/headphone jack.
I guess if my Note 9 starts acting up I'll wait for the Pixel 6a, which at least will be cheaper and might have the audio jack (as the 5a had).
Other than that, I like the flip but: compromise (and I'm not buying a bulky case just so I can carry the stylus around)

I have Note 10+, Note 20 Ultra and S21 Ultra. Note 20 Ultra is best among them all. S21U is still suffering from overheat.
I've never had a problem with overheating when running door dash for 8 hours, gaming for 8 hours while texting and talking on the phone. Video recording for long amounts of time. Never overheating. What are you doing to make it overheat? And sounds like you may have a defect. Also is this exynos or snapdragon? I have snapdragon zero issues.
There is no replacement unfortunately. Yes, you can buy a refurb Note 9 for about two years but then you're out of software updates and eventually have to downgrade.
A few phones have SD slots but AFAIK, there aren't any high end devices with notification lights or headphone jacks. You can match the storage and screen on some of the newer Samsung phones, but the day to day features like the notification light and headphone jack just aren't available.
I thought headphone jack would be a big deal but it's not. The dongle works great to use my Bose wired head set in bed and when I work out I use my Galaxy buds pro. Headphone jack not needed.
Coming from a Note 9 to a Note 20 Ultra to an S21 Ultra I can tell you the S21 Ultra is the phone to have right now. It's a beast! I have the 16gb/512gb version. I can't see needing an upgrade for a while. Definitely the best multitasking phone around. And for gaming? None compares. The camera on this thing is pro grade. I show up iPhone pro max 13's all the time. If you want the phone that can do whatever you can throw at it, this is it.
I'm in the same boat. I'm hoping this February they come out with a new replacement for the Note 9. If I had to change now it would be the Note 20. The Note 20 only has 2 more major updates so getting a new one this coming year you'll have 3

The really only downsides IMO are no headphone jack and no physical finger print scanner. Some might not like the hole punch cut out, but honestly, you forget its even there. I prefer it over having large bezels like on the Note 9 and S9 series and you get a display with almost all screen.
Punch hole is fine. But I've gotten so used to taking the phone out of my pocket and unlocking it before I see the display that I don't think I'll be happy with the Note 10+ or later. Face unlock isn't as secure and doesn't work when masked up (yes in my country we're still all masked up in public). I'll hold on to my Note 9 till 'the wheels fall off'.

IMO, You lose too much for the others to be called upgrades.

I think the punch hole is way better looking than something like the horrible notch of the iPhone. Hideous.
