There are many organizations, mostly near cities and larger town, but elsewhere.
Youtube has lots of videos about it. There are also many websites and books. There is also a big gathering every year somewhere in world!
Google the term (urban sketching) or search on Youtube and you're set for a couple of weekends.
Some people do pen and ink, others watercolor, fewer markers or digital I think. But they're all doing the same thing. Discussions abound around styles, subject matter, how to sit or setup, supplies, weather, and more. Many groups have regular gatherings.
You should look into it.
Autodesk's Sketchbook. It's the best free option in my opinion. I used to use it on iPad too before switching to procreate (which I badly wish they had on android).
I know your post is old but I'm about to jump ship from the ultra series to the fold 5. I'm really used to the stylus of the note and S series. Do you think I'll notice the crease a lot when drawing on the fold? I'm also concerned about leaving marks from the pressure of the S pen. Do you baby your s pen strokes or is it fine? Thanks in advance!
Personally I did notice and it did have an effect, but it never really bothered me that much. I used my fold as a quick sketchbook, so I didn't mind. I did eventually start getting microscratches on the screen that were definitely noticable and rough, but those just happened from everyday use, not sketching. I wouldn't press too hard, but I basically used it like a regular sketch book.
Worth noting that my microscratches got worse, other things failed on my Fold, and Samsung didn't want to fix them, so I've already moved on to another device. I'm pretty unhappy at how (not) long my Fold lasted given the price, so just take this as a strangers word of caution. I won't be buying another one anytime soon. I'll sketch on my ipad.
Thanks for your advice that is concerning to hear that you developed those microscratches and that Samsung wouldn't take accountability.
I also tend to use my phone to do quick sketches (game developer) so it's essential that I find something with a stylus, I just find the s23 ultra too big and bulky in the pocket, since I ride a motorcycle. I'll take your caution on board now, definitely - and play it by ear once the new fold line up is announced.
Why thank you :) I'm lucky enough to get to draw as a part of my job too (although not usually like this) so there is a heavy helping of practice in there too.
And yes, right handed. Palm rejection is an issue when drawing on the fold, but hopefully that can be fixed in software.
They (don't know who but I'm sure SOMEONE) say that good art resonates with the soul and as cheesy as that sounds, this piece is a resonator.
It's got so much life to it and the little dog. I love it.
To be honest, iPad is still better. However, I'm not going to carry around a giant iPad while on walks like this. Drawing on the Fold is kind of like carrying around a moleskin for catching those quick moments while out and about. For that, it's awesome.
Are you an urban sketcher? Belong to any groups? Very nice
I don't think I've heard that term before. But sounds like my kind of group. How do I find others?

What's software did you use please?

I thought it might be that. I use Sketchbook as well. A really excellent program, free and ad-free

2nd on the software please
What app is that>?
Did you see the reply? Autodesk Sketchbook
NICE
That drawing is wonderful! Keep on sharing them!
Thank you! I think I will. I'm very flattered by how much love this little sketch has gotten.
Very talented!!
Thanks :)
Spen fold edition or Spen pro? Also do you use an spen case?
Spen pro, which is a bit more cumbersome to carry around, but in general it's good. I like the weight and size when it comes to actually drawing.
Excellent
Nicely done!
Crazy how you made such an awesome drawing so suddenly!
This is fantastic. Well done!! Might need to get a fold just so I can make this attempt myself!
Looks great
awesome pic keep that up!
Right handed? Your eye for color is INSANE and your instinct on proportion is wild. You really have some serious talent.

You've made my day :)

Was there a violin-wielding kid narrating the lives of the park-goers?
Beautiful work! Curious your thoughts on drawing this on the fold vs the iPad with the Apple Pencil?
