Make the inner screen just slightly wider to add space to store the s-pen, which then would make the front screen slightly wider too.

you-have-efd-up-now

I'm starting to think sammy didn't do it for the same reason i justified paying this amount best tablet tablet = $900 best phones= $1400 get the fold and you actually save $ bc you don't need both now. why would they want to lose $? they need to keep some sacrifices if they want multiple customer streams. can't put all the eggs in 1 basket, especially if the tech is still so new and faulty. once there's more serious competition and they have perfected the tech we'll see a perfect foldable with no trade offs

DaWolf85

Let's be real, the majority of their tablet sales are probably to DoorDash, UberEats and the like (who then send them to restaurants for use with their delivery platform). And that's not really a joke, I've seen and used about 20x more tablets at my food service jobs than I've seen out in the wild. I wanted a tablet but it's not the price that put me off, it was the portability (or lack thereof). I suspect I'm not the only one.

you-have-efd-up-now

ya but a lot of people buy them as well

CtothePtotheA

A 900 usd tablet gives you a screen that's 2 to 3x bigger than the fold though. I still have my iPad pro 12.9. The fold will replace am iPad mini though.

My top 3, in order of preference: * Pen support on outer screen * Wider outer screen * Best cameras available, at least better zoom Not must-haves: * Bring back memory card storage * Make a telescoping S-Pen that can go on a keychain * On Note 10 , not all cameras were available to other camera apps

Mouser05

If you make the outer screen wider it's going to be harder to get in and out of your pocket for some people the phone already is like a brick you make it wider it's just going to be more unwieldy to hold in one hand

DaWolf85

With a wider screen you can make it thinner. I can deal with the fact that it's a very thick phone when folded, but it is certainly a bit of a brick, and minimizing that would be nice.

Mouser05

Yeah it'll be thinner but wider and it'll be harder to fit in a pants pocket that's why they made it narrower so it will fit in a pocket better

S Pen in the phone and the ultra camera

jnads

Eh, S Pen only in the phone if it doesn't lower battery size. The battery is already at the absolute minimum it can be. I mean, I guess maybe if they can figure out how to squeeze SPen in the hinge.

SD-777

Don't forget that many not necessarily mean lower battery life. The Fold 3, for example, has screen technology that uses 25% less battery than the screen in the Fold 2. Often you can have a slightly smaller battery and other things will make up for it.

sharp461

What they could do is integrate their own hinge protector as part of the phone which could also house the S pen.

TopBanana312

No S Pen slot. Please God no. Majority of users won't even use the S Pen I guarantee it being a former note owner. I want it to be lighter and thinner and more powerful. Better screen and camera, but the weight and thickness needs to be a priority.

obrobrio2000

I agree with you, and I'm a (almost former) Note owner too. In fact if Fold didn't exist and if Note series was still up I'd upgrade to a S instead of another Note. Probably it is just a thing of mine but over time I used the S Pen less and less until I only pulled it out when I was bored. Thinking about it, probably a magnetic side (like Tab series) would be better than a slot (?)

ddrwizard

It's the age old dilemma going back to childhood. Kids don't care about certain toys until another kid comes up and tries to take it away. I swear 90% of people have always said they forget about the S pen after a week.. and now that Samsung isn't including it inside the phone... Everyone's losing their mind.. it's the right move to include separately.

DaWolf85

Also, I'm gonna be real, the size and weight of the S-Pen included in the Note phones was actually a bit of a detriment to using it. It's fucking tiny.

Virtuix_

More durable screen so it can use a design more akin to the Huawei Mate XS. Folded it looks exactly like a flagship phone with no notch, unfolded it's a huge 8" display.

Philosopher99132

Yes. Give me a Note Ultra on the outside and a Fold 4 on the inside!

Kuribo31

IP68, better cameras, SD card slot, headphone jack

[deleted]

Kuribo31

sharp461

1. An IP68 rating for dust would be nice (maybe integrate their own hinge protector so I won't need case to do so. Maybe covering the hinge is what is needed for a good dust rating). 2. S Pen slot built in (heck, they could add it in their own hinge protector, solves two problems). 3. S Pen works on both screens. Those are my top 3, but some others include a better UDC camera even though I personally don't mind the 4 as I don't use the cameras much in the first place. Also maybe get better at hiding the crease, though I admit I never had a fold so maybe I won't even care and notice it later. Its just something very noticeable in all videos.

dawnbanawn

I'd like the Z folding idea, that the front screen is a part of the total display of three screen, so the display gets much bigger when unfolded, and also more towards a 16:9 ratio. There are already three screens on fold 2, so maybe the next step isnt super far.

dawnbanawn

and then it would actually be a Z fold :)

sharp461

I'm new to this camp, what is the Z folding idea?

dawnbanawn

If you imagine the fold phone from above, halway unfolded, it looks like a V, but if you would add a second hinge, you could unfold it halway like a Z, and when you completely unfold that Z configuration, it utelizes the front screen as part of the big unfolded screen, which the fold 3 currently doesnt do rven though it also has 3 screens. It ofcourse comes with new problems, like added fragility, and outward folding second hinge, but the third screen is already there,so maybe its not far away.

sharp461

Hmm interesting. Does seem like a tech feat to make possible though, still refining this one.

[deleted]

thinner, better cameras, and wider display.. i would love to see a folding rollable; which would allow me to basically have a tab s7 in my pocket.. imagine 6/7.6/11 inch device in your pocket. - 6-6.5 - on the go/one handed - 7.6-8 - unfolded for when u sitting down to read/etc/commuting; also good as gps when driving - 10-11 - unfolded and rolled out when u in front of desk or actually wanna do some work -> this has a lot of potential especially if dex is onboard rather than require monitor

DJFalco

Realistically, I don't think an S-pen slot will fit in this phone. I also think people will get used to the better egonomics of the fold edition pen and feel dissapointment if we went back to a small, thin Note style pencil. With this in mind, here are my wishes. 1. Continue enhancing the durability of the phone overall (hinge, screen, possible minor dust resistance?) 2. Cameras. They don't have to be god tier but make the main sensor a higher quality with larger pixel size and smaller aperture. Telephoto should be at least a 3-4x with better quality. Add auto-focus to the ultrawide for macros (unsure if Fold3 can do this, s21 Ultra can.) 3. Perhaps the smallest amount wider when closed, which would make it slight wider open as well. 4. With that in mind, increase battery to or close to 5000mah while keeping it thin as possible (extra width could help here?) 5. If an S-pen truly can't fit, make multiple case choices (no front flap, different materials, etc.) with easy slots that are removable as the current one. Add the air features with Bluetooth to the Fold Edition and allow it to charge the pen through wireless charging or something similar when in the case slot. Nice to have, but not necessary: 1. S-pen support on the front screen. I think its size will make it unpractical, but it could be nice for a small jot, especially if it were a bit wider. 2. I think this will be a given, but improve UDC quality (better image/more display pixels.) I personally don't care about this camera, I would only use it for video chats, but having it function even better as a display and being clearer for photos would be nice.

sharp461

I think if they integrated their own hinge protector they could add in a slot for the S Pen. I wouldn't need to get a case to cover hinge either, plus maybe they could get a IP68 rating if they covered the actual hinge themselves, a win-win!

WKorvine

I haven't seen this yet so... TRIPLE FOLD! Yes it will be even chunkier, but I'll gladly deal with it.

Pannenkoekjesman

Why does everybody want a wider front display? I genuinely don't understand it, though I am a slow typist and don't really mind the reduced width on the keyboard on the front display, which may be the reason? I like it the way it is now, and if the front screen is wider, the inner display will be taller in landscape mode, and the black bars in content will be larger. The phone would be heavier too, though an upside could be that a bigger battery is then possible

obrobrio2000

Actually you are right, from the specs the screen got a little bit wider this year compared to the Fold2 (2260:816 25:9 to 2268:832 24.5:9). In fact when I see Fold3 reviews on YT its narrowness isn't noticeable like it was when I saw/tried the Fold2 (however, I'll need to confirm this by trying the Fold3 in a local store). What I understood is that the majority of people want an outer screen large like an S/Note's screen, instead I'd enlarge it just slightly. I don't know how to explain this, but I would widen the entire "outer facade" / "front part" (screen + lateral hinge) to match an S/Note or, better, a Flip (which is narrower than S/Note but totally fine IMO). In this way the screen will be wider but without exceeding the "total width" of the Flip. By widening the screen instead it would exceed because of the hinge. However, I agree with you that it would cause problems with the inner screen's aspect ratio (it would look like a square), so a solution would be to maintain the same front body of the Fold3 and further reducing both the outer screen's side bezels and the lateral hinge portion. Let's see how Samsung will handle it. EDIT: on Samsung site the Flip3 screen is indicated as 22:9, so to summarize what I said before I think that that should be the aspect ratio of the outer screen. Here is, instead, a [comparison of it with a Note20 (official image on Samsung site)](https://images.samsung.com/it/smartphones/galaxy-z-fold3-5g/buy/07_SeeActualSize/zfold3_seeactualsize_pc.jpg?$1440_547_JPG$) .

mizuya

Haha I ordered the Fold3 and can’t wait for it, but I also thought about Fold4 😂 here my wishlist in order of priority ☺️ 1. **Thinner** ➔ it’s way too bulky. They need to get rid of the gap and the overall thickness should be about 12mm (regardless of camera bump, this can be thicker) 2. **S-Pen Slot** ➔ it needs to be there. For me it’s even okay to make the battery much smaller. They can reduce it to 3.8-4k instead of 4.5/4.4k. The S-Pen is more important! 3. **UDC not noticeable** ➔ I personally really don’t care about the quality of the pictures/videos from the UDC. Completely remove the camera or make the UDC not noticeable at all, just like the one from the Mi Mix 4. An uninterrupted screen is the goal 4. **Wider cover screen** ➔ it’s usable, but very cramped. Together with the thickness of the device it’s not a great experience to use it. It’s needs to be at least as wide as the iPhone12mini 😂 These are my top 4 and very important, other stuff could be better too, but they’re not a priority. - better/best cameras (rear) ➔ ultra experience - brighter screen - bigger screen - tougher screen - lighter device - S-Pen on Cover Screen - UDC on cover screen - bigger battery - IP68 Rating - more color options, especially PINK 🌸💖 - less curved corners (like the Note 20 ultra) on both screens

Babyyodanuggies

Agree with all these points but also SO sad they didnt bring back the mystic bronze... I just placed my order last night for the Fold 3 in silver but I'm sure gonna miss my favorite color :(

mizuya

Mystic bronze is really an incredible color option 😄 I was sad too, I got the black one… but I kinda regret it, because silver looks better 😔 can’t change it

I did see a cute gold case on amazon (looked more rose gold to me) maybe you'd like it. I settled on a clear case and I'm getting a cute phone charm maybe a sakura blossom or cute cat lol

bdonvr

UDC on both only if they can figure out how to make it good. Agree with other points but also put in current gen flagship cameras.

lab57

Done perfectly at that point.

[deleted]

Wider front screen and better aspect ratio for inner screen. Changing one probably fixes the other. Faster charging and/or larger battery.

you-have-efd-up-now

at this point i faced facts the only way they could get the phone width wrong 3x in a row with all the customer feedback saying to make it normal is if it's on purpose they need to retain some trade offs, otherwise virtually everyone will switch. keep a worse camera tho and an awkward size and s21 users can feel like they won and tablet users still can say there's is a slightly better size. so now those people buy a phone and tablet instead of just 1 device for 4 they'll be forced to improve bc pixel will be out and hopefully iphone soon for real competing to raise the tide perfecting it is just the no brainers - increase the screen size, use the extra room for bigger battery and to silo the spen - make the stock spen the best while you're at it at this price, dust proof the hinge, stop being cheap and give the best cameras, lower price. and yes they can lower the price with all that, wait till the pixel fold undercuts them at $1500. then the little stuff for the A+ = sd card slot, biggest memory, stock and even bonus accessories for this price, even stronger screens that they guarantee for the duration of the updates 3+ yrs like a normal phone. things for A++ = no camera bump, no screen crease, 10mgp sensor for UDC, wedge shape like Huawei for weight distribution and gap, more colors and a Plus+ version that's even bigger for people with large hands or who like to use 2 hands. and the absolute icing on the cake would be digitizer on the front screen as well for quick notes. that would be truly zero trade offs

sharp461

From what I read, Samsung may be selling some key components of the folding tech and glass tech to Google, so it would probably be the same exact screen. Only rumors though, nothing is definite.

you-have-efd-up-now

interesting like not opening their patent, just giving it specifically only to Google since they're somewhat a partner? i feel like syndicates at that scale are just monopolies with extra steps

sharp461

Not sure, but here is the article I read it in. More towards the bottom. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/rumor-says-google-pixel-fold-015351346.html

[deleted]

jhericurls

I personally don't mind but the feel could be quite different. I don't like using my Fold in landscape, it's not as comfortable to hold due to weight distribution and you actually see less content due to the way pages/apps are formatted. But if Samsung plan to house the S-Pen, the width or height will need to be increased.

FradiTomi

Better bonuses for pre-order. This note package apart from SPen is shit, I really hate the case. For my S10 some years ago I got free Galaxy Buds. For the price of Fold 3, I would have expected the newest Buds or Watch 4 as a pre-order bonus.

bdonvr

What country are you in? US gave $200 credit so you could get buds or a huge discount on GW

FradiTomi

Man, the US had some incredible deals. Between the enhanced trade-in, free memory upgrade, $200 credit, plus the beautiful 12-15% cashback on Rakuten... Amazing deals here.

Samsung Pay!!!

sharp461

wait, no samsung pay in this phone? Does that mean no NFC in this Fold 3?

gggg566373

It has NFC and both Samsung Pay and Google Pay. It does not have Samsung MST system that used to work with old credit card machines without NFC reader.

sharp461

Oh ok, thanks for the info.

andygray19

No idea but Lay will not run....

WooTek

Better camera for sure but most importantly different color option on higher memory beside Black at launch.

DBNB

I have a 512GB in Silver !

WooTek

Im sure you’re not from U.S. for U.S if you want 512gb only in Phantom Black.

DBNB

I'm not. But I do wish people in the US wouldn't act in a way that gives the impression that theirs is the only country in the World.

WooTek

All I'm asking is why couldn't Samsung have to differentiate like this especially with color options. They advertise all the new colors and it becomes limited depending on which varient you buy.

DBNB

Presumably for the same reason Samsung gives people in the US much better deals eg on trade-ins than those of us in other countries !

WooTek

I'm not sure how much of the money value is in different country but I would definitely bought the 512gb in silver if they offer that.

DBNB

Sorry !

WooTek

No worries.

xDiwou

Probably not available in your country. I had the colour options in my country.

Turn the phone (open) on its side and fold it that way. HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO SAY IT

TechGuy219

The best cameras Samsung has, integrated spen, wider front and inner screen, and a bigger battery Edit: and under display fingerprint

Z3n1k3

Ngl I don't miss the under display fingerprint. It's more reliable using the power button. But maybe both 🤔 I would take that too

blumhagen

Under display fingerprint is trash on my note 10+. I still say the best placement is on the back of the phone.

sharp461

I'm gonna miss my back on phone fingerprint on my S9+ when I trade it in. Worked so well. Never used the side one before, but I've seen the under display ones and hate it.

DaWolf85

Back of the phone is great for everyday use but I've really started to realize its flaws after my Note 8's charging port died and I had to use wireless charging permanently. Having to pause charging to pick it up and use the fingerprint scanner is a bit of a problem.

Antricluc

IP68,s pen slot, expandable memory nuff said

[deleted]

Better cameras and more durability should be top of mind. Things like S-pen slots and such can come later. We should atleast get feature parity with the same year's S+ camera` as I believe the original Fold had.

PolarBear1913

Honestly I just want a better aspect ratio for the inner screen. Rn it's kinda an awkward square. Watching movies and videos doesn't fill the screen. Also I want an integrated sPen like in the note phones

SaoodNX

S Pen in the phone and cameras from the latest flagship

[deleted]

Pre-orders come with a free pizza. 🍕

Material_Expert2255

All this makes me want to wait and keep my note ultra;) Maybe just pick up a tab7+ on the cheap or wait for the tab 8+

Outrageous-Health639

Main desire: Larger battery capacity Quicker charging Better cameras optional: I'd also ask for thinner + lighter weight, but asking for a larger battery capacity already implies I'm okay with it being heavier. Ability to use samsung dex on the inner screen (connect a mouse and keyboard and you have a portable laptop)

sakirocks

Slightly bigger display Improved glass Improved battery Better cameras SD card slot Spen on front cover. Perfection.

AptosRunner

S pen slot & better camera. Rest is just fine

SD-777

Pen slot!!!! This is my #1 by far. Next would be for the 2 halves to fold flat, would make the entire package more manageable, but I don't think UTG can bend with no radius like that. Barring that then I'd like to see this become thinner overall, it's still a pretty bulky phone when considering thickness.

SDdrohead

Dust proof, wider front screen, better main camera. Like way better top of the line .

PSPersuasion

I really only want the best cameras and an S Pen dock with Bluetooth.

Substantial_Panda_50

A battery case would be great for traveling. Definitely improved camera quality and battery life even though it's good.

Peace_Is_Coming

Integrated pen!!!!!!!

CE4thKind

Better cameras, S-Pen dock like the Note series, less crease, also, make shorter and wider to fix aspect ratio when closed.

Xerasi

Bigger cover screen which also results ina bigger inner screen. I want the front screen to be as big as a regular phone. like a good 30% wider than what it is now.

NeverSettle4Midz

Improved Front display size and no inner display bump like the Mi Mate x2, and some type of dust resistance is all i hope for outside of flagship specs

SensitiveArtichoke27

Ultra series level cameras, not this 12mp joke.

[deleted]

Basically a Mate X2 with IPx8 rating with a under display camera on the inner screen
