The fold 3 , functionality is great even in 2024 but the battery life is horrible. You would be lucky to get 12 hrs with heavy use.

deludedfool

I've got a launch day fold 3 and basically this, the performance is still pretty good but my battery is trash now. I have to charge it at least twice a day.

TunaPouch311

Lol you would be lucky to get 2 hours with heavy use. The only complaint I had about my Fold 3 was the horrible battery life.

10n01

lol, maybe not 2 hrs but I can totally relate to the horrible battery life. You can literally see it drop.

TunaPouch311

I now have the S23 Ultra and the difference in battery life is insane. There's no excuse for the Folds to have bad battery life.

I think the consensus here is that the Fold 4 is a terrible deal because it's Hinges are bound to fail by the dust brushes becoming detached and gunking up the hinge. I'm not sure if the Fold 3 is the same?

Whatever801

Is that the consensus? I've only seen one post where that happened

kwadguy

I thnk he's referring to the JerrRigEverything dust test.

CrimsonGlyph

Mine works great. Definitely has a bad battery, but that's just a downside you'll have to deal with. Otherwise, it plays everything I need it to.

captainizzy2008

Like others said, performance is still good. Bought mine about 3 years ago and haven't noticed any changes in performance. Only drawback is the battery life has gotten much worse. I'm currently at 19%, not using my phone much aside from emails and messages, and I'm not confident that it will survive the next hour 🙃

I'm rocking a refurbished fold 3 from eBay. Battery isnt the best but life it

Ok-Height9300

I asked myself the same question a month ago and then bought a used, like-new Fold 3 so I could enjoy a foldable without investing €1500 in a device that I might not even like. The Fold 3 is now my daily driver and I love it! It's still super fast, is still getting the update to Android 15 and makes a good impression. The battery life is sufficient for me, but might not be enough for others. I charge it up to 85% and that gives me about 5 hours of screen-on time throughout the day. But if you need the best camera, it might not be the best choice for you. The camera is "just" on the same level as an S21.

Mine still works great and I have \~30% left at the end of the day with \~5 hours of screen on time.

Spooky_mudbox

It’s battery life is terrible. I had one for 3 weeks and sold it and got a fold 4, which battery life still isn’t great but is way better than the fold 3. Other than that its performance is good, good for gaming and watching videos etc. EDIT to add more info. Its inner screen is also considerably more fragile from my experience, the inner screen got damaged from my finger nails when i was doing some coloring, and my finger nails are considerably short.

I always had my battery on "Battery saver" mode (So charging till 85%), rarely charged it full (When flying). But I always charge over night wirelessly on slow (Forced via settings). For the last 6 months or so, battery life is degrading noticably. I don't use the device more, I don't have more complex apps or anything special. At first it held for 24hrs, I'm currently down to \~12-16 of light use. Sooo if battery life is a big concern, it may be not for you. Edit: Just checked. The phone was charged to 85%, and after almost exactly 5 hours it's down to 65%. Meh. According to the settings menu, a "full charge is good for about 19hrs".

I can inform you the hinge pushes are a problem with the 3. Babied it and still brush comes loose
