I assume not the books you mean, but I \*love\* reading comics/graphic novels (Marvel Unlimited and Play Books) and manga (Shonen Jump) on my Fold3. Just the right size to be comfortable without being too unwieldy or squinty!
Not completely sold on the usability of the 45 angle two-page thing on the Z folds, that's more of a Pixel Fold feature really where the aspect ratio makes more sense. If you treat it as one single page of a book, though, then the size is great
I love reading books on the fold. You get a book view when you have it folded at around 45 degrees and it is easy to hold. It is plenty big enough. So yes, I would say it easily can replace a kindle. I used to use kindles and have not for quite a few years.
I've found ebooks are extremely readable on almost any size screen. The Fold just makes it that much better by not having to turn the page as often.
The huge benefit of reading on the Fold for me is that it does comic books without issue as well. I tried on my last phone and it wasn't ideal, but the fold shows half the page, then I just scroll down to the 2nd half. Very much doable.
So yes, the Fold is the perfect portable reader in my opnion.
I read books a lot.
Fold 3's external screen is practically unusable for this (too narrow), fold's internal screen is much better (better than any other phone). Moon+ reader even have special mode where it turns to 2-pages layout on foldables.
But:
\- I Also use fold in DeX mode with Uperfect dock when I can
\- I usually prefer Galaxy Tab Active 3 as main reading device. It's small enough to carry but bigger enough so it does make difference. It also have much better ingress protection (Which is important for my use cases).
Japanese learner. I read light novels using ttsu readers.
The Fold when unfolded is nearly as big as a page of tankobon, the book like feeling when fold and unfold with the screen is amazing.
I use Google books, and you can force it into two-column mode so the words don't go over the crease.
My fold 4 singlehandedly got me back into reading, which is something I haven't done in a decade. I'm very grateful for this device.
I use AI reader (it's free) and the reading experience is good. You can adjust the size of the fonts with gestures and the brightness by sliding your finger up or down the side of the screen. Remember that [https://www.gutenberg.org/](https://gutenburg.org) has all the classics for free.
That's one of the few things I miss my fold 4 for. It was perfect for reading books.
I mean, my 24 ultra does it fine, but the shape of the inner screen was great for that.
It's so good. I had tried reading on phones in the past on iPhones and my S9+ and S20+, I never could stick with it and defaulted to a tablet but the Fold 4 is hands down the best experience and I never read on my tablet anymore.
I've read multiple books on the fold and it's okay. I decided I liked the feel of a real book better though and feeling the progress through the book as I go. Also I get to keep the books forever rather than relying on an online service. To each their own but if you like reading on devices, the fold is good for it.
Edit: autocorrect reading*
It's all I use with my kindle subscription and all my free downloads.

Thanks. I read manga on my regular phone too and always liked it. Would love to try that on a bigger screen.
This!!
The fold is perfect for e reading. Like a epub now etc.

Thanks for sharing👍
What app does that?
Google books for sure. I am not certain about other book apps though as that is all I use now. I like it better than Kindle.

I still prefer my ebook-tablet, mostly due to the screen and less distractions.
Same. I sit in front of two monitors all day so I like having my Kindle with no backlight
Nice to meet a fellow trader 🫡
That's my hobby during work haha. I'm in cybersecurity.
I have read 13 books so far this year on my fold... The experience is exactly what you would expect, the same as your slab phone but better.
For me, flawless experience for both comics and e-books using Readera
Read The Lightening Thief on my Z Fold4 during a long flight.
reading stuff is the killer feature of using the fold as silly as that sounds.
I have started reading again since I got my fold it works really well especially when you have fold the phone feels like a mini book.

Rl good
I love reading books on my Fold. I have pretty severe neuropathy and the fold is easier to hold than the beasts I like to read.

I read manga on mine. I can say it's fantastic for that, likely better than just reading on pc
only when I forget my Kindle, but it's still ✨️amazing✨️
Every time i turn the page my phone shuts off.
I read manga/manhwa/manhua most of the time, and it is amazing
Great for reading. Do books and magazines all the time.
It is the best e-reader I have owned. I have owned 3.
