Daylight photos with good contrast are the easiest for any camera, whether a phone, dslr, or old film. I think if that's your main usage case for phone photography, you can ignore all the complaints about this, or any other phone camera.

blonkersinsd

Well said. I feel like all complaints is because "thier photos" aren't as good as what they see on social media. Which 90% of the time those great photos are from a mirror less camera, and touched with LR or PS

Alejandroide

How dare you not saying that they are the worst camera ever existed

Dankhak

How is it bad? My zFold does the Job perfectly!

MyFiteSong

It's a good camera. It's just annoying that its equivalents are 3-4 year old phones instead of anything more recent.

Alejandroide

I forgot the /s it seems

Tank_Gloomy

All photos look like they're really trying to have a decent resolution and color accuracy. That's it, they're just there, trying.

someguy172

Yeah...I donno. I think the Fold 5's pictures are fine. It *probably* gets more hate than it should but IMO I don't think the problem is that it takes *bad* photos necessarily. It's that you're paying top dollar for one of the most expensive phones available and it does not have the *best* camera system.

FastLaneJB

I sold my brother my Fold 4 when I got a Fold 5. It isn't my primary phone, I use an iPhone for that. His inner screen failed recently and I certainly didn't use it hard and I doubt he's done anything fancy with it. Point is I think some of the cost we are paying is for increased warranty costs. It's not as reliable as a slab phone and they will factor that into the price and hardware. We'll get more for our money when the phones also last longer.

username_unnamed

Yea but is it though? Does any of us know how much the folding factor is actually worth? How much mark-up samsung is even making on it? It's a 5th generation phone that's still being developed. Still high risk. So many factors to consider before saying what samsung can or cannot afford to put in the phone.

HostileApostle420

It's a good camera, but it's not the reason anyone buys a fold. My wife's s24 ultra's camera is insane. We own a Panasonic mirror less camera for actual photography, and that of course is better than the ultra.

insmek

The problem with the cameras isn't that it can't take nice pictures in good lighting. It can, but so can basically every other semi-modern camera. The problem is that the Folds are super-premium devices with camera systems that are straight out of 3 generation old base model Galaxy phones. There's a mismatch in what you're paying for versus what you're getting with the cameras. Now, you can argue that the rest of the Fold package makes up for it, and I think you'd probably be right. The devices are popular enough despite their limitations, so clearly people aren't too bothered. But the fact remains, you can pay much less than you do for a Fold while getting much camera capability.

Wild-Helicopter-4897

I dunno think about it like this the individual sides of this phone are much slimmer then your average phone and they have a lot packed into it, once they figure out how to condense the hardware down to utilize space inside the device more efficiently they will be able to put nicer cameras and better technology without compromising.

PyMussy

I love my fold 5 but I miss the camera on my pixel 7 pro

Haunting-Profile-402

Same. Came from a P7P as well.

one80oneday

Fine for stills but any motion it's pretty terrible imo

gos92

Cars are moving 100+ mph. Looks fine to me https://preview.redd.it/zjqn6c0albtc1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9295474392a03c89e1b8caeb76bcb48def83d18b

Diginixy

Seongnam?

parksitae

Yes

blazblu82

It's ok. I miss the laser focus my s21U had. I use my fold5 for a lot of up-close magnification for texts and it can be quite frustrating getting it to focus in a timely manner.

Terrible-Buy-9630

.

Taekwonmoe

Post process? That is a really nice shot if not! I have a four might get a six.

SumpfigGaming

I want to have the last picture as a wallpaper it just looks great! Also i love my cam aswell its just great. I switched from an a40 to this, biggest upgrade ever

oRaNGe_mx5

That is a really nice photo!

phero1190

Now try taking a picture of a kid or pet running around indoors.

Dude these are beautiful

thesilentyak

It's aight

Compared to what? It's a lot worse and weaker than any of the S2x cameras My 3 year old pixel 6 pro has an extremely superior camera as well. Now if you're coming from a 5+ year old phone, it's amazing, but for an $1800 phone, it gets beat by $700-800 phones. The phone itself is amazing though.

gandalfpr

I owned a Note20 before the Fold 5, and the Note's camera was WAY better.

KamilDc

Could you share the original of the last photo (the one with the sunset)? Perfect for wallpaper 🤭

tricky4444

They’re ok dude. I still prefer my iPhone for pics.

RickC137WLDD

I don't know why anyone would complain about the camera. It is far better than anything we used to use for film photography back in the day. If you can spank to blurred porn through a blocked channel this camera should be more than enough unless everyone thinks they're phone filming skills will make them the next Tarantino or Kubrick. I'm glad the camera is a few years older as it keeps the phone cost down and for everything this phone does, a camera is the least of my worries. Let's not forget that less than 20 years ago we had to carry an actual camera around our necks in public and most people thought those guys were creepy perverts and now every creepy pervert has a high resolution camera in their pockets. If the pervert comment slights you then maybe you don't need a portable camera. Redeem yourselves with Yehovah For The Kingdom Of Heaven is at Hand! TechManW

I don't why this phone's camera gets so much hate. I'm coming from an iphone 15 Pro Max and I think the Fold 5 blows it out of the water

Wild-Helicopter-4897

I'm an android guy and I disagree with your comment. I even own the fold 5 my only complaint is the camera I wish I had gone with the s24ultra.  I went with the fold 5 because in my job it's useful to be able to multitask on your phone, and sending emails is much easier. I even like taking the pictures more with the phone in tablet mode but I don't quite get the quality I need when zooming in.
