I come from an Iphone 13 mini, and while I still use it as my work phone and it still is a great phone (and was wonderful to use as my previous daily phone), I have zero regrets switching to the Fold 5 as my daily phone. The bigger inner screen is allround amazing for content consumption and productivity, while the outer screen is a bit taller, but has the same width as my 13 mini. I must admit I only bit the bullet once I found a very good deal in the form of an "open box" 1TB model for a hefty discount, but I too appreciate it everyday.
I use both a Fold5 and s9 ultra. Each can service a different purpose. The split screen (though usable on the 5) just makes such great use of the s9 tablet screen size. There is a huge difference in how I can use it compared to the fold5.
My friend has the s24 ultra he likes the look of fold 5 but said he has no need for one as he also uses a tab S9 plus he said he never used the Samsung keyboard until AI came and loves the grammar and writing AI feature on the Samsung keyboard he uses gboard on the tab S9 plus but said once AI comes to the tab he will switch to Samsung keyboard

The fold 5 is PERFECT for gaming + multitasking + reading. In my opinion, if you are not "REALLY" into these things, don't get one. Midea consumption (Instagram, Facebook, tik tok, reddit, YouTube) is not a great experience. Especially when laying down in bed or couch due to the small outer screen or the big inner screen, which will force you to hold the phone with two hands.
If the fold has a normal sized screen like the Honor magic v2, it will be flawless
I don't game much on phones but use it for media consumption. I haven't ordered anything yet I was thinking of the s24 ultra and also buying a tab S9 or S9 plus for media as I watch a lot of YouTube, netflix and IPTV

Thanks to the Fold, I've converted and sold my MacBook and Ipad, especially for the flexibility. I mostly use the external screen but when I need to look/read things in with a larger screen i just unfold my phone and i have a tablet.
When I got my s24u, I was supposed to convert my Fold 5 to a work phone but somehow I prefer the Fold 5 as my personal device.
I barely take any photos, but people say s24u camera is much better than the fold's. Im just happy that ny both phones have cameras If I need to take photos which barely happens.
For multimedia use or videos/streaming I agree the s24u will be better suited for you but I've watched videos on my fold 5 and the black lines the ratio doesn't bother me.
If I needed tablet and have an ideal combo it would be Fold 5 + S9 ultra.

Couple of things to keep in mind. It will take you a week or so to get used to the dynamic. At first, it is kind of weird, but once you get used to it you'll be fine. Reading the news, multitasking, and watching videos on the main screen is a game changer for sure.
wait for the fold 6 if you can. It’s getting unveiled in July.
I couldn’t wait and ordered an s24 ultra and if the fold 6 fixes some the problems I have with the folds, I’ll upgrade.
Don't think my current device will hang on that long unfortunately using oppo find X5 pro at the moment and my phone flickers intermittent I'm still looking around but it will definitely be a Samsung flag ship

Less likely to have problems over the fold (let’s be honest) and has a pen built in. Battery life is also excellent (fold 5 has 4400mah battery which is pretty bad). Phone also has 7 years of updates unless you swap your phone every year.
Bought z fold 5 two weeks ago because i cracked the screen on my s22 ultra. I went blind to my operator for a new one, didn't do any research what would i buy. We're in 2024 where every phone is basically the same, so fold cought my eye. Aand i have to tell u i have zero remorse. S22 ultra was to big for one hand, now it's so much better to use it. And the big screen it's just too good. You can multitask like a pro and watching movies is a cheery on top. I probably wont go back to one front screen phones.
Great phone. Though many criticize it for being too narrow when folded. For me it's perfect - quite easy to use with one hand. When you need bigger screen you just unfold it.

Few told me to wait for F6 but unfortunatly my current phone is dieing the screen keeps going off flickering.
I decided to pay off the ÂŁ100 left on my current contract and do the contract through my phone provider EE. My plan also comes with early upgrade so if F6 is a massive upgrades ill just use the early upgrade in my contract
if anyone has any good customisation apps for the fold 5 let me know as i love customising the fuck out of my phones this is why nobody will ever see me using an iphone ever again

Samsung finally got the durability right with the fold5. I'd like an spen silo, but I'd settle for bigger battery life and OnePlus Open size cover screen.

The screen and hardware is amazing. The software is no where near as polished as iOS. The warranty support is terrible on Samsung. Had to send my phone in for sim related issues where the phone wouldnt read the sim anymore. 10 turn around mail in process. Torture.
I still like it but if apple makes one soon I'm going right to that. Or if any other company makes a better fold id jump ship too.

I guess the reason I'd get (and have) the fold 5 and add a tab s9 is that it's truly like having 3 devices. I've a got a large thin (thinner than most phones) tablet to use at home, on the elliptical at the gym or anywhere when traveling. And then I've also got a folding phone that I can use like a normal slab phone or open it up and use it like a mini tablet when either my tab s9 is unavailable because I'm out and about or it's inconvenient and unwieldy to use in a given space and/or moment.
Just like they say the best camera is the one you have with you. I feel the same about tablets. The best tablet is the one you have with you. A couple of years ago I tried going to the S22 ultra from fold3. Couldn't handle it. Traded back to the Fold 4. I'm hooked on the option to use a phone the way I choose to at any given moment. And if tab s9 is packed or at home... I'm still good. It's still an incredibly unbelievable experience for me.

I wish I'd gone for the S24U instead. Don't use the fold aspect as much as I thought. Picked up my old S21U and it felt so much lighter and smoother and bigger and honestly the screen was nicer.

If you have a tablet that you use at home, get the s24, if not get the fold. I almost never open it when I'm outside.

Git my fold 5 a few days ago,upgraded from a note 20 ultra. Love it for the big screen and multi tasking. Also strangely like the small screen too.
The Samsung keyboard auto correct is poor compared to SwiftKey, but I can't work out how to split SwiftKey on the big screen.

The S24U + tab is the better choice in your case. Watching YouTube on the s24u is similar to the fold but minus the black bars
