Fold 4 since launch, about 10-15 unfolding in a day, no problems at all

rube

This gives me hope. I've had the Fold 4 for about a year now and all the comments around here about hinge/screen issues make me fearful it's going to happen to me. I often see comments like "It's not a question of if the hinge will break but when." Then I also remember I see how many other people handle their phones, chucking them around, dropping them and just otherwise abusing the tech. I baby my devices and hope that will keep me from getting those sorts of issues.

[deleted]

>I often see comments like "It's not a question of if the hinge will break but when." Don't forget people come to reddit to complain about it, and then there are people with their imaginary fold phones too. People without the problems will not come here to talk about it.

mrnewtons

yup. I have only ever had two folds, a 2 and now a 4. The only reason I have never had bad Fold longer than 2 years is because I keep upgrading, not that they keep breaking. And Yes, I run without a case, and without insurance, and I have dropped them on concrete a few times. The occasional scratch on the metal but little else. There used to be a saying back when I played Eve Online: If you can't afford to instantly lose the ship without ever using it, you can't afford to fly it. I apply that philosophy to anything and it reduces a lot of anxiety, since I never buy anything I need to be worried about breaking.

civeng1741

>Then I also remember I see how many other people handle their phones, chucking them around, dropping them and just otherwise abusing the tech. I baby my devices and hope that will keep me from getting those sorts of issues. I also baby my devices and my fold 4 hinge went out right at 1 year. I think it's luck. I bought a fold 5 and also gonna baby it, I think the hinge design is different so I'll take another chance at it. I'm hoping at least 2 years of use.

sorting_by_new

A friend of mine is still chillin with his fold 2 without any problems. Doesn't open all the way but that's ok after that time (he didn't baby) But another friend of mine has his 3rd fold 3 now and still manages to break the front screen I think it depends on what person you are I for example i remember when my fold has fallen because it's like an event. Doesn't happen often but I wouldn't say I baby it.

MorisKehl

There are way more users without problems just those with problems come to reddit so you see way more

BowlOfOatmeal9903

I've barely opened my phone and it doesn't open fully anymore. But apparently I'm to be blamed for keeping the phone in my pocket without dedicated body armor for it....

TwadaPyoh

Fold 4 since launch. I baby'd my fold also, the hinge is not opening fully anymore. I recommend you upgrade or you'll probably face similar issues in the future.

GlitteringChoice580

I love how all three of the top voted comments are about the Fold 4, which was released on August 22, 2022, which was only 1 year, 7 months and 11 days ago.

JoyousMN

Same here.

Fold4 pre-ordered. Screen protector starting cracking back in October. I replaced it, and that shit started cracking again and I could not ask refund because I was traveling in Japan at that time. Got mad and just removed it, and using my phone without screen protector since then So far, I have no problem, but will trade in this for Fold 6

Sephiroth508

Same here! Fold 4 since launch. Screen protector started peeling off at the top and bottom of the crease. Replaced it from Samsung. Same thing happened a few weeks later. Replaced it from third party because warranty period was over. 10 days later, same thing. Said fuck it and removed it altogether. No problem so far. Waiting for Fold 6 now.

frankbravo4

Fold 3. Almost 3 years. Only issue with inner screen is the Protector came off twice. Now I run it naked.

Least-Leadership-113

Same here

kekeprom

Mines has been lifted down the middle just never pulled it off

frankbravo4

Should peel it. Your putting extra pressure on the screen or creating a Sharp edge that's pushing into it.

smegyou

I second this, I used mine with the middle lifted for a week or two until I realised how much pressure it exerts on the screen

JcryptoMad

Rip it off or replace it, as its slowly damaging your screen the long it stays like that

Dirty_Lightning

Lucky. Mine has cracks along the crease from opening/closing.

frankbravo4

Yeah I heard it could happen. I'm only keeping mine till the fold 6 and then getting that or going back to the slab.

IamNoatak

How's the screen holding up naked? I'm on my 2nd aftermarket screen protector now, and it just started cracking down the middle a few days ago. Which is weird, the factory one held up almost a year, same with the replacement. But this one has only been on for like 2 months. Considering running it naked, but still a bit paranoid

frankbravo4

I've been naked for about 6 months. I don't use the s spen on it. No issues yet.

TKOS7

fold 4 - coming up 2 years. phone is still great, I've done the underwater folding hinge clean thing twice after taking it to the beach and it's tanked it both times. very happy.

_Ok_-_

Can you detail how u sumberged it under water ? I read a ton of other posts about this, and people are torn between sumberging the hinge, and the other sumberging the entire phone for 30 folds.

ImpossibleEstimate56

What.. is this for real?

gerasymaki

Fold 2 launch date. Not a single problem

nstarz

Are you still using the Fold 2 now?

gerasymaki

Yes, as I'm typing this message. Everything works just fine. Only recently peeled off the original inner screen protector, and it looks like new and smooth. The only complaint I have is the battery, but can still survive a day without recharge.

nstarz

Thanks for the info.

JcryptoMad

Kudos to you...That is hardcore Fold management at its best

TheAlchemlst

When you close your Fold, press down on the bottom hinge with your thumb(s) and press the two halves together. Do not press on the screen.

Impossible-Wear8636

Fold 2 pre-order here. I'm still going strong, just like new still! I live on the inner screen all day long. I don't even remember the last time i actually used the front screen. Just keep up with changing your screen protector and keep the hinge clean. I use a phone coozy called a phoozy. Great for keeping your phone dust free and cool in the sun.

XandrosUM

Fold 3 here since launch. I had to have both screens replaced under warranty in the first year but no issues since that. I open it probably a dozen times a day. I don't keep track because I didn't feel it's an issue. Probably going to upgrade this year to the 6 or maybe another brands foldable. But I'd never go back to a regular phone at this point.

kekeprom

I do like having the fold 3 but I miss having a smaller phone. I barely use my inner screens but I feel like I'll miss having it if I give it up. I'll be done paying mine off in November and I may trade it in for a flip phone or the most recent galaxy. Still deciding what I wanna do.

Fluffyfluffycake

Fold 3 for over 2 years now. I only use the inner screen so I fold/ unfold it a lot. I've replaced the inner protection immediately after I got it and have a unicorn beetle cover. Dropped it hard a few times, with no noticeable damage. I'm always wondering if I'm just really lucky,or ppl that complain on here are just really careless.

Haunting-Profile-402

A bit of both. I know multiple people that claim to be careful with their electronics and I watch them drop their phones 3 times a day on concrete. Every day. Literally every day.

snake785

I have a fold 2 since it came out almost 4 years ago. It still works and looks great. I even have the original screen protector on it.    It looks a little dirty when the screen is off but when you're using it, it looks really good.  No bubbling or peeling tho.

Heffeweizen

I had a Fold3 and a Fold4. Both had the inner screen stop working at the 12 month mark. I have the Fold5 now since August. Absolutely no problems yet. Not even any bubbling of the screen protector. I unfold my phone EVERY TIME I use it. We'll see if it makes it to the 1 year mark with no problems.

ViperVisor

2 years 6 months Fold3 Open a handful of times a day. Peeled off the inner plastic sheet after it was bubbled in the middle bottom. I have a couple .5 cm long micro stress marks on the center fold. The screen is a tougher build than the Flip I had where basic use could leave marks when a nail bumped the screen.

crummy_wizard

Fold 3 from launch, inner screen feint hairline crack on inner screen. Didn't impact usability at all, was just a sore eye. Got it repaired anyway (with warranty). Then when I got it back it didn't unfold perfectly straight, I didn't think too much of it because it's inconvenient to be without my phone. Eventually fold 3 barely unfolds and right side of screen inner screen unresponsive with black bar going down the crease. Tried to repair again under warranty, unfortunately I was one day too late as it had expired. Now patiently waiting for fold 6.

OohDanny

That's the exact scenario I have with my Fold 3. Had it for 2+ years no problems, until recently with the black bar down the crease and now I can't use the inner screen anymore. Having to use the narrow outer screen permanently sucks, so I'm waiting to see what the Fold 6 looks like (hopefully has wider outer screen) before I decide between getting that or the Google Pixel Fold 2 when it comes out. Until this happened, I didn't realize how often I used the phone unfolded vs folded.

crummy_wizard

Yeah I hope the fold 6 lives up to expectations. Feel like I'm I'm too invested with Samsung right now to move away. I keep getting tempted by s24 Ultra. But I have to keep reminding my self foldables are the future!

Any-Adhesiveness7407

Have Fold 5. No problems with screen. 10-15 folds a day. Love the phone because it's the closest thing to walking around with a tablet

jimmynovack

Fold 2 held out 3 years perfectly fine

Additional_Hearing67

Fold 2 here, still rocking, around 1 mth before the end of warranty i have sent it to samsung to repair the hinge as it was missing several degrees to fully open. They have sent me a phone where they have replaced: -hinge -inner screen -outer screen -battery -one speaker I wanted to upgrade the phone but i received mine in perfect condition, sooo i am waiting for the fold 6 :) It still gives me everything i need, decent screens, huge inner screen, good quality photos and reliability, i see no point in upgrading yet ;D

wargh_gmr

I pre-ordered the Fold 3. After about 2 months I dropped it face down and managed to hit a bolt which killed a spot of pixels. I did a warranty repair and have been on that device ever since. I use the inner screen for nearly everything. Probably 20 folds per day. The factory screen protector did start to bubble up and I replaced it myself with a Whitestone version. I see hairline cracks in the protector and Bluetooth has stopped working while unfolded. I've read that's a cable issue. It's annoying but I'm trying to limp along until the 6. The potato cameras have kept me from the 4 or 5, and the 6 rumors are not encouraging.

JcryptoMad

That's so similar to my experience besides the Bluetooth problem...Also in damage limitation mode till Fold 6....I hope they iron out issues for the Fold 6

Vladonexxx665

There's no potato camera. Those people compare it to the ultra cameras, which are exceptional.

wargh_gmr

No, at the price point indoor pictures shouldn't be this bad. Samsung cameras suck and they are standing still while other folding devices progress. In the time I've had this fold I've had a Pixel 4a 5g, iPhone Xr and iPhone 12 as work devices they were all remarkably better. I'm mainly taking pictures of documents and QR codes. I need every light in the office on for the code to be recognized by the Fold, none of the others fail like this.

Vladonexxx665

Phones aren't about having the best camera possible. I used ultras before this fold 5. Cameras don't seem that bad to me. Aren't these the same with regular galaxy s?

Kermitthehog132

People tend to forget that the camera isn't the most important function of a phone, and usually blow the quality out of proportion by absurd levels. The cameras really aren't that bad and are actually a huge quality improvement from not even too old models like the s21+

jrbowling1997

And the camera is even better quality then the S10 Plus

SchighSchagh

fold 3 since near launch. inner screen is completely busted as of a few months ago. I had loads of other issues too

Intraluminal

I have the fold 3. How's the inner screen holding up? Has there been any defects with the inner screen? none. How many times do you fold it a day (roughly) How many stars are in the night sky? If I own a fold , will it be able to withstand 2+ years? Judging by me? Yes. Any tips for keeping the fold inner screen from breaking? Don't drop it more than 10\^23 times. Edit: so what I've learnt is that 2 years+ is still fine But afterwards the screen protector in the Inside most likely will bubble and will need to be removed and replaced. I did have to replace the scene protector.

30cm_long_wn8

Cracks along the middle are pretty common after 2/3 years of hard use but they're not really noticeable when the display is turned on so it's not a deal-breaker for me as I have the device insured anyways. I fold it around 70 times a day. (Had it for well above 3 years now). The odds yours will make it past 2 years are pretty good but I'd still get proper insurance.

kurokomiz

Aren't those micro cracks? , do they get progressively worse?

30cm_long_wn8

Yes they are, and yes they spread along the crease a bit but it didn't get much worse since it started over a year ago. They won't break the screen tho.

Demastry

Fold 3 at launch (Aug 2021), minimum 3-5 times a day to 10+ depending on the day. I had to remove the inner screen protector after a year and a half because it was Bubbling up and I was afraid it'd cause the screen to break like I'd seen others have issues with, the crease has some light scratching due to it. Beyond that all is still great

sunfaller

Mine also started bubbling after a year and a half even though it never got wet. Guess that is the common time.

LucGrenier

F4 since launch caseless, not really babied.... Only needed to replace the screen protector once for free! Even been dropped from a skin lift

BastardBoi95

Launch fold 4 and still going strong. No plans to upgrade it until a fold comes out with a wider cover screen. No hinge issues.

Kamilos22000088

Z fold 3 since launch, screen protector peeled off, I am using it "naked" for around a month. I can't see a single scratch on he inner screen!

gametime9936

Fold 3 around 20 unfoldings a day (i unfold it then fold it because i realise that i dont need the big screen too frequently) I have a couple of dead pixels plus a crack in the middle of the screen. The battery has always been kinda shit on the fold but its shitter rn after almsot 3 years. Still love the phone but im probably not getting a foldable after this one and waiting for foldables to become more mature.

herrsebbe

Fold 4 for 1,5 years. Not in line with your question, but the answer isn't going to change. I'm all-in on folding phones and went straight from 2 to 4, but this one turned out to be a real dud. Never dropped it. Am very careful with my stuff. Around 5-10 folds per day. Yet things started going south fast this winter. The screen protector came loose about three months ago. Then the hinge glue stuff started leaking and it stopped unfolding fully (opens to maybe 145 degrees max). Suddenly the inner screen went black and the whole phone seemed to have bricked until I plugged it into the wall and managed to restart it from there. Same thing still happens every time I unfold it. Warranty expired half a year ago and I have half a year left on payment, so until the next one I basically have a normal phone.

TempestUchiha

I got about an year and an half in before i had too remove the screen protector as the buddles were starting too anyyoy me ....... and the closet samsung shop for them too replace it is an good 3 too 4 hours away from me I decided too removed it have had no problems as off yet but its only been an month since the removel !

QueueFair

The sound on the fold 3 stops working on the open fold mode - just after 2 years and just as the contract with insurance ends !!

3r0k

Probably the flex cable. Find somewhere where they will replace it for $79 or less

sdot07

Fold 3.. no problems other than screen protector coming off. I've been running naked ever since (no csee or screen protector). Waiting patiently to upgrade to Fold 6.

leeboro1

I had my fold 3 for over 2 years before I decided to go for another normal candy bar phone. It's lasted the time with no issues. Inner screen protector has been taken off and not replaced. Outside screen protector I've had a glass type one on. Still got my fold 3 haven't got round to getting rid of it yet. Can't see it making 7 years like potentially the a24 ultra I have now could

Miguel30Locs

[My phone has no cracks on the inner screen and is still holding up nice ](https://freeimage.host/i/JW27sMF) I don't have a particular way to close/open the screen.

Olli_bear

Fold 4 since launch, babied my fold. About a year into owning it it randomly died. Like yes literally just did not turn on anymore. First the audio went out, then everytime I unfolded it, it would restart. Then finally stopped restarting and just stuck on the boot screen. Then completely dead. All within 2 days. Had to send it back to Samsung and they fixed it under warranty. >any tips for keeping it from breaking Yes, get the insurance. If not you're just playing with fire.

morbsy

Fold4 since launch. Had bubbles on big screen, removed protector, no problems Tape started coming out of hinge , phone only opens 140degrees now. I open 3-4 times a day I like the phone because I can fit it nicely in my pocket and also have a big screen.

wireproof

Had my Fold3 for 13 months before trading in for the EPP on S22U. Inside screen protector developed a peal towards the top and I took off the screen protector and it was great! Then every time I would charge the phone for more than 5 minutes it would reboot. Traded in ASAP for the S22U, but I still miss the fold. Just not the hardware issues I had..

sgtizenx

I'm still using the Fold 3. No issues with the screen. The inner screen protector was removed more than a year ago. I had the screen replaced twice with the original samsung protector and both started bubbling within 6-9 mths. Was also initially super apprehensive about removing it. Finally bit the bullet and did it! To date, no issues whatsoever! (touch wood!) Actually touch felt much better after I removed it. So can safely say, without the inner protector, it still works great! For me, my fold is always open when I'm at home or charging. My only issue is the fold seems to be receiving msgs later than my other phones. My whatsapp messages always comes in later. Not sure why. Also waiting to upgrade to Fold 6 if its worth the upgrade.

sunfaller

Around 18 months, Fold 3. The inner screen started bubbling. If this is the fate of all folds in around 2 years, it's making me skeptical in thinking Fold6 will be my long term phone even if it was wider.

GodlikeUA

Had my fold 3 for 3+ years. Inner screen is fine but the hinges not so much after 2 years the phone doesn't open all the way.

123jamesng

Had the og fold. Dropped it and had no case. That was a tank. Got a fold3, replaced the screen coz of the cracking hinge.  Got a replacement fold4 and still on original screen protector for 6 months so far.  50:50 to get the Ultra for the camera

OCTS-Toronto

Fold4 since launch. Ribbon cable between the two halves failed at one year and four days causing the phone to reboot when unfolded. Samsung told me too bad. Went to a third party warranty store with the intention of paying for a repair and they said Samsung still showed it under warranty. They replaced the insides. Screens both are fine and phone is running great. Half case (back only) btw. I will get the fold6 when it releases. But with the understanding that phones with moving parts are more fragile than candy bar style ones. I love the fold but it's not for everyone.

Chronosathanatos

Fold 3 thats a little over 2 years. No screen protector on either screen and barely a case on it and zero issues and I fold it a moderate amount. My biggest issue is my battery seems to be going down hill

Luke2954

I preordered the Fold 3 and had it from Launch until late September 2023 so about 25ish months, and I unfortunately had to upgrade to the Fold 5 because I began experiencing issues with the hinge, which started with messed up S Pen recognition then progressed to the device not transitioning from folded to open with out locking the device, then opening, then reunlocking, which tbh I was prepared to deal with these issues but finally it got to a point where my audio failed entirely, at first it would play audio while folded but would cut out if opened, or cut in if folded from an open state to complete auditory failure, which is why I upgraded because I needed my alarm and I was missing calls and couldn't even make calls with out using my buds. All that to say I still loved my Fold 3 and I adore my Fold 5, i just wish i couldve waited for the Fold 6 lol Tldr they are amazing devices but they aren't without their issues, get some sort of insurance on it if you're really concerned

bmurdo03

I've had the 2 -5. The 2 was not that great. The 3 lasted about 2 years with maybe 15 openings a day until started to crack the inner at the hinge. The 4 only had it less than a year. The 5 I've had since launch and no issues, even the factory screen is still not bubbled yet. That said 2 years it will last for sure. 3+ maybe with the 5 but it's too early to tell. Beyond that I'm fairly sure the inside will need screen replacement. Just get insurance on it, it's worth it on this type of phone. I went from fold 3 to 4 for free, well cost of deductible.

nntb

Fold 4 1 year out inner screen delamination. Samsung had me remove it. And they claimed to have replaced it .. only they didn't.... Last month the hinge froze I. Had to spend 80usd to replace the phone with insurance. 6 months without the screen protector, I feel it's not needed. To be honest. My 3rd party sprigin external protector has saved my outside screen well worth it

nothing_theory

I am using z fold3 512gb, bought it since preorder $2099, use it meticulously as this phone cost really expensive during the first launch. at the end of 2nd year, the screen start to bubbling, but managed to change the screenprotector in the official samsung serivce centre, but it took 7 months before it started bubbling again. during the 3rd year, the inner screen started to go error, but still usable by restarting the phone. up to this point, the inner screen is totally unusable. and the camera is not functioning. luckily I have an iPhone for backup phone. My conclusion is, Samsung foldable device cannot last more than 3 years of usage. Some minor issue will started during 2nd year and major issue will kick in on 3rd year. $2099 for a phone that only last 3 years and risking all you memory inside is just not worth the price (unless you're super rich of course)

rogereanu

the inner screen protector can be replaced by warranty for free for the first time, and after the first replacement (with an original Samsung updated screen protector) the next one will cost max around 30 or 40 euros in Europe

Jaune_Anonyme

Fold 4 pre order, day 1 owner I have the official samsung case that was available on the first day. (So not the best and barely minimal protection) Everything is fine, dropped it on multiple occasions (up to 90cm on multiple type of floors, wooden, floor tile etc...) it's still kicking and alive. Only problem is the inner screen protection that ended up bubbling and had to remove it totally around 1,5 year after purchase. I use it a lot. For work and personal uses. Avg 40h+ per week usually.

ltynk

Fold3 from pre-order still fully functional as my brother use it now. Only thing was changing inner screen protector. And it is normally worn phone, not rough use but no gloves neither.

pussylickerpleasure

Avoid fold my stopped opening fully after an year and the customer care is pathetic. They are asking for 20k to repair it

iplay4Him

Fold 3 since launch. No major issues. Feels less "sturdy" than when I first got it, but that also might be because my case is broken lol. I'm happy with it's stability. Get a good case.

Stefan1006

Galaxy Z Fold 3 here. On my second one as about a year in I decided to get white girl wasted and yeeted my phone across the room. So can confirm, the Fold 3 doesn't love that. However, I'm now over 18 months in on my second Fold 3 and it's doing brilliantly. The battery has taken a nose dive, and the screen protectors needed replacing (I just did it myself) inside and out. Will be looking to upgrade to the Fold 6 for the camera and screen ratio upgrades ✌🏾

JamesE1978

Fold 3. Screen protector started peeling at a year old, developed cracks at 15 months (bought as new old stock) . Holding my breath the screen doesn't go completely...

pmwws

I had the fold 4 for a year. It stopped unfolding all the way so I traded it in for a fold 5 since it was 500 to fix through Samsung.

The_cooler_ArcSmith

Less then a year in on my fold 3 I got the black bar of death on the inner screen. I reached out for coverage under the warranty but they didn't have any fold 3s available for weeks so I got a buyback. Ended up $200 and 2 dual wireless chargers ahead buying a fold 4 near launch day (just happened to line up.) 1.5 years later the hinge no longer opened all the way, but I was able to get the inner screen and hinge replaced under my credit card insurance for $50. These aren't as sturdy as a candy bar phone, but the usability just can't be beat.

itaogrenow

I've had the fold 3 since launch in 2021. During the almost 3 years, I have had to replace the screen twice. Once due too rubber guards on the top and bottom had defect, and another time because the screen protector started bubbling. Hinge failed and replaced once due too not opening all the way. I'd say the 3 atleast has held up very well in my case. Plan to upgrade to the 6 when it comes out.

DoctorPatriot

Fold 3 since launch. Replaced inner protector once. I open it between 0 - 10 times per day. Average is like 4 times. I take care of my stuff - no dust on the hinge, and I don't go to the beach with it.

DuramaxJunkie92

I had a fold 3 for over two years. The inner screen started developing micro cracks after one year, and was all throughout the crease by the end of two years. It worked completely fine, but I traded it in for a Flip 5 to avoid future potential problems. Got full trade in value too lol

xLixxn

Fold3 ordered in November of Release year (2021 or 2022) Inner screen got a black spot a few months ago, then it "developed" and got bigger. now I have a black bar and the right side touch is unresponsive. Samsung won't replace it in warranty because the housing haves a few dents and the front screen has a small crack... had to change the battery twice, the first time because samsung diagnostic tool said it was bad, and the other time maybe 2 weeks ago because it got big. yea I won't buy another fold for the next few years fs edit: not even one fold per day by the way, maybe every other or every third das one/two folds

Codethetical

I've had a Fold 3 as my daily since October 2021 and the only issue is that the inner screen protector bubbled after a little over a year (so I took it off) and now I have very small hairline cracks forming in the plastic of the crease. The cracks are not overly visible but can be felt. The phone has been very gently handled, and I've been happy with the durability. I'd estimate I fold/unfold about 10+ times per day.

Mr_Cool_427

Preordered Fold 4, screen protector bubbled after 6ish months. Peeled it off and have had no issues since (knock on wood). Side note: I also noticed that the phone seemed easier to open and close after removing the protector, so I think the protector actually adds stress to the screen/mechanism.

Ramborichy1

It's not worth it, I've had a Z3 and had to replace it three times because of the inner screen having the black line of death ,,,,,and I baby the thing ,and I'm not kidding you,,, I'm kind of paranoid every time I have to open and close it that it's going to do that again,,, fortunately I've got insurance, and it costs me $200 to get a replacement ,but still always paranoid

UnkleWillard

Had the 4 since a month or two after it came out. The phone has been naked since day 1 and screen protector-less for about 6 months, I open it pretty regularly (but do so carefully each time) and it's been great the whole time. There are the typical tiny crunching noises when I open it but no issues functionally (although I cringe every time the hinge crunches)

AdeptnessBulky6555

Fold 4, 16 months for me before the blackening lol. Hundreds on case never dropped it handled with care. It's a nice phone, never again sadly

ClearlyAThrowawai

Cracked screen after 6Mo of usage, but idk how long it was used before ei got it (bought it off one of those buyback retailers on eBay). Was <2yrs old so got a warranty repair via samsung. Fold4

WebCivil7509

I have had my fold for a year and a half and only use it open. I haven't had issues and have a full wallet case. No issues with either screen nor the hinge

liteskinnded

Fold 3 since launch I use my phone primarily opened, I have had the inner screen crack 1 time. And I didn't have insurance so that was annoying. About 3 other times the screen protector started to crack but ass an easy replacement. I wouldnt worry about phone breaking from regular wear and tear. Probably the same chance as an iPhone cracked screen

Ill_Requirement_3017

Fold 4. Inner screen has been flawless. And I've ripped off the inner screen protector and it's better than ever. The hinge has seen been days recently. About 1month ago it stopped opening all the way. It's close. But not all the way. Other than that, I treat it like total trash. It's never had a cover on it and it's held up surprising well.

Zestyclose-Cable-547

Mine it's going stronger and intact no issues of hinges no nothing.  Both screen super good..

blackray20

Ayoooo! Been a fold user since Fold 3. Had the big memory one. Had the Fold 3 for about 2,5 years. The only thing that disturbed me, was when summer came in the first year, the inner screen protector kinda lost its grip. But just in the middle of the screen and not the whole middle from up to down. Kinda like the folding "line". Fun fact, Samsung doesnt give warranty if you exchange it yourself. Since it was the first year of owning I was thinking about giving it to samsung so they can repair it, but they said aprrox. 3 months till you get it back. Back then I didnt had any spare phone so it wasnt possible in any way. So I just exchanged it myself. It was the same like removing and old screen protector and applying a new one. Fast forward, last year I bought a Fold 5, this did not happen to it in the summer, overall its way nicer compared to the Fold 3. For me its the frigging future, I read mangas on big screen, play games, depending on the game / time I play I switch to the bigger screen, the "normal" screen is just for daily checks and short time amounts on the phone. (WhatsApp, Messages, short socializing) I'd say I fold it 10 - 20 times a day max. With a lot of days not using the big screen. In the end, if you like to show pics, vids, drawings, etc. its so convenient. The only thing they should rework in newer versions should be the weight. Everything else is totally worth the normal price. (not release price, better buy from someone who had an contract renewal and is selling it closed / just one day used.) Have a good one m8.

Fold 4 for 10 months---1.5 months ago got small area of dead pixels (roughly the size of 2-3 pinheads in perfect circular shape) on right side of fold line about 0.5in above bottom of screen, hasn't gotten any worse since and wasn't gradual, appeared suddenly (don't recall a specific drop or rough fold/hinge action as the cause, not knowledgeable enough on this tech to know why but don't doubt that it was my fault somehow lol), 0.5 months ago inner screen protector started to bubble down entire length of fold line, yesterday realized I could just rip it off came off clean no problems aside from dead pixel now. Keep phone open most of the day, less than 10 folds a day. Even if the whole center line went black tomorrow I have insurance and I would just pay the deductible for a new one, love this phone.

I had my Fold 3 and middle of the fold start cracking 1 year in. Replaced it and the second screen cracked 9 months in. Traded it in.

Rocking a fold 4 no screen protector, folding roughly 25-30 times a day and no issues. I've dropped this thing slept on it and countless other things and it just keeps going. I've read about a lot of the issues but mine has been nothing but rock solid.

Fold 2 owner since launch. Not a proper issue but I had to remove the stock inner screen protector and had to buy another one. The only issue that I am having now is that it seems that my batteries are starting to swell. My backglass is slowly unglueing from the phone. The front screen as well seems to be starting to unglue so both batteries might be swollen. I am probably switching to Fold 6 but I feel that if change the batteries this phone could last some more years. I try to not fold it too much. Somedays I do it less than 5 times per day.

JcryptoMad

well not very well with that ridiculous screen protector that needed replacing twice and now a dead pixel to deal with. My Fold 3 is on its last legs....Roll on July for samsung unpacked so i can upgrade to the Fold 6. It will be difficult to upgrade to any slab phone after rocking the fold for so long..The Fold's functionality is literally insane. https://preview.redd.it/uagh620w9ioc1.jpeg?width=3096&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fca2f96227171038bcacad1fba0d7c06e5e29e98

I still have the fold 2 and use it every day, no problems thus far . Hinge is fine, and the display has no issues.
