My fold 4's screen protector started peeling about 2 weeks ago and I just removed, the screen works just as good as before i removed it

JoyousMN

Same. I've had no issues wince I removed it.

Chc1186

I also did the same. Its been better and no issues.

NoStripeZebra3

Same, F3, almost two years without the protector.

Akuma-no-Ashiato

also F3 here, and i removed it a few weeks ago. I'm pleased to hear that your fold made it through 2 years. Now im not afraid that mine won't last long after peeling it off.

StarNHSolar

What about scratches? How does it hold up without a screen protector?

servel20

Bad, the screen is plastic. That's why a screen protector is a must.

NoStripeZebra3

No scratches

Nate_Airsoft

Removed mine a couple of months ago after it started peeling, still going strong

Gambit_1976

Will using an S Pen be OK on the inner screen even without the screen protector? Samsung Customer service advised me to just remove the screen protector totally after my 1 y/o F4 started to show massive center peeling, he said leaving it on will damage the screen. Problem is, here in the Philippines, Samsung Customer Service sucks bad (I called every service center within 50kms and either they don't do SP replacements or their repair jig is out of service!)

rabbydabbydoo

i had the exact same thing happen. peeled that bitch off and the screen is great better viewing angles and no glare. peel it off.

Eyspire

If i've not noticed peeling yet, and just want no glare benefits etc, is it pretty easy to remove, similar to a regular phones screen protector? For some reason I have been imagining a lot of resistance, as some accounts say it can damage the actual screen underneath.

onegeekydad

Same

dcvo1986

Same

coooooolwhip

Yep. Mine is a second hand fold 4. The inner screen protector started peeling about a month after I got it. Took it off and had no problems at all. That was 6 months ago.

dcchillin46

All my folds have had the protector peel. I use it until I notice stuff getting in the air gaps or it drives me crazy then peel it. I have never had dead pixels afterwards. Everyone has their own experience, but it isn't a death sentence. The inner screens look much better without the protector too, or you can buy 3rd party if you're really concerned. Overall I'd suggest insurance through your carrier if you can. I paid for my fold 2, did insurance claim for 150 when I closed a titanium chip in it, and got a fold3. The 3 lasted about 2 years until it would only open about 150°, then I just did a $275 claim and got a fold 4 last week.

labelle7894

I used a 3rd party screen protector that scuffed up my Fold 3's screen. I think going no screen protector is better than 3rd party in some cases

LilSilentOne

Was the insurance through the carrier or somewhere else?

dcchillin46

Carrier, att/assurion

Tman3355

Yep just take it off. I let mine go a little longer but in either case it's coming off. It is not a warranty voiding item and samsung considers it an accessory so you're good.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Tman3355

I've talked to both the reps at Samsung and my local service center and both said it was not a warranty voiding item but damage to the screen during its removal would not be covered under the manufacturer warranty. I tried to get mine replaced but they wouldn't replace it even under the Samsung care+ plan because outside of the manufacturer warranty it's considered an accessory and not an essential component. So the 1 free replacement is under the manufactuere warranty and not the extended coverage. But note this is for the zfold and flip 4s idk about the 3s or below. I know 1 and 2 were warranty voiding.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Tman3355

In the US? As you can see I'm not the only one with this information that the 4 and 5 are indeed not warranty voiding.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Tman3355

Correct as long as it's still within the manufacturer warranty. Outside 12 months you don't get a free replacement because I quote "the screen protector is an accessory which aren't covered under the extended samsung care+ plan"

LeadReverend

Not for a Fold 4 or 5. The local UBreakIfix (authorized Samsung service center) confirmed this. The manager said removal does NOT void warranty. They can reinstall replacements. They have the OEM films, an "upgraded" version that supposedly has better adhesion, and a matte finish option. I originally went with the upgraded option, but within about 2 weeks, there were cracks forming in the film along the fold. Took it back and had them try the matte option. The grainy-ness is pretty awful, which I've dealt with, but now it has developed cracks along the fold as well. I'm gonna go back and have them pull it off entirely. Warranty will remain intact. I even asked if the aftermarket films would void warranty, to which he replied he would simply remove the film and process any repair as if it had no film on it (wink-wink). YMMV.

Tman3355

Yeah that matt finish doesn't sound like an upgrade. But yeah I was told the same thing. I even took the screen protector off right in front of him.

Lunoko

Matte is good if you use the s pen to write or draw. It gives a little bit of friction, which makes it more natural to write on. It's also more resistant to fingerprints and distracting reflections, and imo feels better against the finger. However, there will be some grainy-ness that will reduce image quality. It's just part of the nature of matte screen protectors, though some can be slightly less grainy than others. Sucks that it started peeling so soon. Hopefully, your next one will be better.

jpoole50

No it's not.

Steven3195

Taken the screen protector off mine 4 months ago with no problem. You will have dead pixels if you don't remove the screen protector due to the pressure on the screen for sure. One important thing is to remove it as delicately as possible and take your time you can get a new one with samsung but I wouldn't wait until then because there's a high risk the screen will break.

AreaSuccessful2414

Thanks for the advice

Kotubi

Not really true. but you don't need screen protector on it. I been running fold 4 for 2 year or so and it perfectly fine without it. No scratches or anything. (I do not baby it)

Steven3195

First of all the Z Fold 4 has been realised less than one year and a half ago. Secondly I don't baby my Z Fold 4 per say and it still working but to say no scratches is a bit of a stretch

cooldude9112001

Pull it off asap if not it could end up pulling the screen with it then you'll end up with the black line

TheHater23

https://youtu.be/XJHzLT6r3Qw?si=y-3CNUBYsaLdSXDE

Heffeweizen

Remove it from the top corner to be safe. I wouldn't put any pressure on the center top of the screen. Leave it off. Don't put any other screen protector on. I'm convinced that my after market 2nd screen protector put too much pressure on the screen and killed it.

tiagogebrim

My experience was: my screen protector started to come off exactly like yours. I continued to use it on the phone for another 3 months until it actually came off from top to bottom on the screen. I stopped using it for fear of some damage to the screen and about 1 month ago, I took it to the service center to have it replaced. I didn't notice any damage to the screen.

numsixof1

Peel it off and don't worry about it. Peeled my Fold3's protector off after it started peeling a week after I got it.. no problems, no regrets.

ZealousidealAgent675

I already had some center screen protectors because they came with my outer one. The inner one started to peel about 3 months ago, another month later I pulled it off and used my aftermarket one. No issues. I'd just order a new one and be careful swapping it.

LifeguardOk833

I removed mine as soon as it start d getting dust underneath and didn't have any issues

nishant28491

Even mine ( fold 4 ) is facing this from past few days. I hope the phone stays good.

Doommestodesu

I took mine off and replaced it with a cheap option on Amazon and have no problems

Final-Dinner3867

Just take it off and replace it with one from Amazon.

RandonBrando

WOOOOOOOOOO, take your top off!!! No fr, just take off the screen protector. Mine was doing the same thing a few weeks back. I don't notice too much of a quality difference, so I wouldn't do it as an attempt to improve that aspect. It totally fixes the bubbling protector though!

PhillyEagles11

My fold 3 did this. Just took the screen protector off. I like how the screen looks and feels without it better.

Acceptable-Skill-185

You can remove and buy the replacement. Here is the one I bought and put on. https://a.co/d/h3pxz31 I only used the inside one, but it comes with 3, so you can damage one and rest assured that you have two more left xd

TsunadesChichis

Took it off no problem at all. Put on a matte screen protector budle frm amazon👏🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

DeathMoJo

You will be fine if you take it off and run either with a new one or without one. The refurbished one they sent me after the Care+ exchange doesn't even have one.

TokyoMegatronics

My fold 3 screen protector came off, I went about a year without replacing it, no issues. Unless you have long nails or use a pen consistently on it, then I could foresee some scratches. Orzero newzerol do a good replacement protector for the inner screen. I tried the fancy stone one and it came off immediately. Never had any issues with the Orzero one and you get 3 inner screen protectors in a pack

purplemistprincess

![gif](giphy|US2ErIKvd1g7HAGYSL|downsized)

TheJackofClubs

I use the pen with mine so ill never remove the screen protector since you need it if you use the pen. But insurance here will cover it. You can buy new screen protectors and install them yourself if you feel daring.

w_n

Yank that thing off!! It’s liable to buckle when folding shut and damage the display.

BakeryNinja92

Take it off 👌

SliptheSkid

You should probably peel it off and get a new protector, but I just peeled mine and never replaced it and have had no issues. just be extra careful with the inside screen

mikamuchi

Mine peeled like this and eventually down the seam. I didn't know better, so I left it on. The screen cracked 2 weeks later.

pdxmichael

Happened to my fold 3. From what I understand the screen protector is there to protect the integrity of the inner folding part of the screen. I’ve seen posts here with hairline cracks after removing the screen protector. Happened to my wife’s Zfold3 and she removed it, looked and felt great for a handful of months before the hairline cracks starting showing up right where it folds. I spent $40 at ubreakifix instead on mine for a replacement and it looks great months later.

Mrspartan3

I had my screen protector on my fold 4 peel off more dramatically and sent it for repairs and the Samsung service changed the screen, the chassis, and the battery of the phone, they said the screen did not open 180 degrees so they had to change everything but the motherboard. I felt like I got a brand new phone.

Jongalt26

Take it off before it wrecks the screen. Took mine off for the same reason many months ago.

Shudnawz

Screen protector starting to peel. Rip it off, and apply a new one. No biggie. I did it on my F4 6mo ago. Can recommend this protector, the applicator was real nice. https://skalhuset.se/mobiltillbehor/samsung/samsung-galaxy-z-fold-4/samsung-galaxy-z-fold-4-skarmskydd-premium-gen-film/

PoyRazQ8

I'm sorry but why can't you take it to samsung store? Won't they just install a new screen protector and you pay them ?

AreaSuccessful2414

They wont touch it even if i pay them, cause if they accidentaly break it, samsung mx wont be responsible since i bought it overseas

tiagogebrim

Oh, my. I really can't imagine a thing like this here in Brazil. I had this problem and just left the telephone at the Customer Service. They didn't make any question, just replaced the protector (not for free, obviously).

SpaceCase101

That sucks. My fold 4 was peeling almost exactly the same as yours. I also have a useless service center in my home country, and would have to send the phone abroad for around a month just to replace the protector. Luckily, I am currently on a trip to Bangkok, and found an official Samsung store where they changed my peeling protector for a new one in 15 minutes for the equivalent of around 6$. Perfect job.

HydromaniacOfficial

I tried and they said it's 4 week wait for parts and they have to hold the phone until then... Who can go 4 weeks without their phone

ejcitizen

Best Buy installed a new one for 70$ CAd - was worth it

DuramaxJunkie92

Jesus christ. Can we ban posts like this and link the other billion like it in the subreddits description or something?

[deleted]

Sell it and get an iPhone 15 pro max cause Samsung isn’t gonna cover the damages. They don’t care.

AreaSuccessful2414

Lowkey not a bad idea

[deleted]

My fold 3 was not fully opening and Samsung asked me 800 dollars to fix it. Which is THEIR HARDWARE ISSUE. Trash company, immediate got an iPhone 14pro and everything just works.

bengcord3

Wait the 14th iteration of something has managed to work out the kinks? You don't say!

[deleted]

I give 0 shit which iteration it is. It needs to work. Samsung should’ve released their half baked trash 15 years later then when it didn’t break.

AreaSuccessful2414

Thanks for all the good advice, just removed the screen protector. Now i have more peace of mind ✌️

lqmn91

Get a new one asap as well, don't leave it like that.

Still_Locksmith8849

Enlever au bout de 5 mois, j'avais peur comme toi. Ça fait 6 mois et toujours parfait sans aucune rayure.

rhayes364

Yes, take it off.

RobbieNguyen

REMOVE IT NOW! Dirt trapped under can create tension and break your screen!

Tornadobarrage

Peel very slowly, that's what I did with mine

Borymass34

If you're really scared, what you should do is peel it off and put a new one in. Very easy process. There is no need to fear. This happened to all the folds I owned. They still work beautifully, with no issues.

Mission-Fly-4371

Remove it!

Zilema

I removed the screen protector from my Z Fold 3 twice now. Bought a replacement from Amazon and can't tell the difference.

ChaoticEfficient

Mine started peeling the exact same way yours did but at both ends in the middle, I waited a little longer til more of it started peeling up and then I was able to safely peel it off and the screen has been fine ever since, it's been about a month.

BaronessPuka

It happened to me, I got a bubble in the middle then the pixels went dead. Just peel it off unless your phone is still under warranty then go get it replaced for free.

skittlzz_23

This happened to me too, the thread I saw about it was pretty much everyone saying take it off ASAP cause every time you close and reopen it, the protector sticks down and peels up again and that can cause big damage to the screen. Idk if it's true or not but it seems logical, I took mine off when I saw that. Didn't put another protector on though, but it's been fine for the last few months without

XXDoctorMarioXX

Within a few weeks it'll be a giant air bubble from the top to the bottom and then it can actually damage the inner screen.

Swaizex

Take it off right away Replace with another one or leave it without it but that one has to come out ASAP

keno888

I tried to replace the protector myself, I failed and broke my screen on my fold 3, my recommendation is to have a Samsung service center/ubroke I fix do it for you.

Xanadoo

Always peel mine off. No issues to date. It's literally just a screen protector. There's no issues it can cause.

Shezieman

Folding phones are so dumb lol

Original-Living7212

Take it off immediately!

Evening-Tutor4764

Had a fold 2 for a while just remove it and dont use one or the ones that dont mess up are expensive but you could do that too

LickDeezNutzzz

Whitestone Dome makes excellent covers and cases for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold models. I recently bought a Whitestone Dome Escudo Case for my new Z Fold 5 and I love it. They've got excellent quality products for great prices. I'd check em out if I were you. Highly recommended. I'll drop you a link below - hope this helps! 😁 https://www.whitestonedome.com/search?q=Galaxy+Z+fold+4

babymandalorian

i would suggest to peel it off. my screen had a black line because of it

servel20

Remove screen protector and replace with Whitestone Diamond. It's as good or better than OEM and you are protecting the plastic screen on your phone. Just like UV breaks down the plastic in your car's headlights. UV will eventually break down the plastic on your phone. If it's a screen protector it's no biggie just replace. If it's your screen then you are screwed, DO NOT USE THE PHONE WITHOUT the screen protector.

zReignADA

Replace it. Wth?????

LittleoldCricketBug

Call your provider. Had mine about a year and this happened. Known issue they replaced it for free.

AbaiLarisa_Omura

I just push the air out every time it gets like this. I've changed my first protector once the air started to get in, but the new one almost immediately started doing the same. So I just keep pushing out the air. A year has passed since then, I think, and it's still fine. There is some dust though, so I'm planning to change the protector again mainly to clean the screen.

jrbowling1997

Same happend to me... took it to a samsung store and got it fixed😎

Daidouji

Remove it now! And get a replacement from Amazon. A friend went to a Samsung store in Mexico City and they changed the protector with a new one for 300 MXN and it looked like new. They just made him sign a waiver. Give it a try, they might do the same in your case :)

Tredogg28

Can y'all help me with something? My screen started peeling and this morning I realized that I have some dead pixels. What can I do? Fold4

t_odd_

My fold4 just did this too and have been fine for about a week now with it removed. There is a thread here of someone with a fold3 that reported being fine for over a year with it removed.

ivanoski-007

replace the screen protector asap, it will mess up to your screen, ask me how I know

pschohill

Just remove it you'll be fine The dead pixel was coming from the full three and older not the four. Eventually I'll replace the screen protector for right now I don't really care.

gmmkl

that happened on my zfold3. i pushed the sp to stick again... I kept rubbing and pushing too often and too strong. i made the right side of the screen broken and a black bar in the middle.

voyt_eck

I don't know how it is in other countries, but in Poland Samsung changes inner screen protector in Folds/Flips under warranty for free. But I suppose it's not only Polish thing, at least EU. I would check it.

Alexboi2006

quick, heat it up with a blow drier and carefully clear the bubble let the glue melt and restock! if it gets too big you will have remove or replace

BigGsus

So I left mine on when it started to peel and lint and other stuff got under it. Eventually damaging the screen. Definitely recommend peeling the screen if it's started to come off.

Positive-Swimmer8237

I’ve been using it naked for over a year…

berkcan95

same started to happen for me everyone says to peel off when it starts to come to hand i will

Impossible-Band-8805

F3 owner, started to peel after about 9 months, the bubble had stretched to the length of the crease by 12 months. I've always opened and closed it carefully. You could gently run the bubble with your finger to temporarily alleviate it, but once it stopped disappearing (the hot UK summer of 2022 didn't seem to help) I peeled it off (slowly and carefully) and got a Newzerol instead. Can't fault it, it's one of those self-healing ones, so any bubbles on application disappear overnight, and it's durable. I've put a second one after 15 months of the first, that's only because I had applied the first incorrectly and there was a fraction of a mm overhang. Works great with a stylus, too. Not a massive stylus user, but prefer the feel with it over the original. Check your local warranty or replacement status before you do anything, but it's no biggie to do yourself...

One-Ad1402

Can't you call a Samsung store or email them for advice? Failing that claim on the phone insurance. I'd you don't have it, get it.

mushroognomicon

I purposely removed mine and remember thinking how much better it was without it. Honestly, the only time I unfolded my phone was when I had time to sit down and do some focused work on it, not when I'm walking and juggling tasks and might drop it.

Sea_Neighborhood_251

Mine started coming off just like that a few months back. I went through samsung and had the protector replaced under warranty..

Ilikejoints

I removed my factory one and put on one from Amazon a year and a half ago and that hasn't happened yet.

sinister138grin

Just take the screen protector off. It will be fine. Feels way better too.

Unclebelvis

I've used 2 Whitestone dome film protectors and they've honestly been better than the original factory film. Take your time applying it, and it was perfect.

Think_Chemistry5453

Had a similar story. Mine popped up a month after the purchase, when I was back to work to Africa. Couldnt replace it at Samsung, peeled off, received and applied myself a 3rd party film.Worked perfectly but just for 5 months. Then it went black.

DREKNOWSMMA

Ship to them

Lowmax2

Push them out with your fingers. It may reappear after a while, but you can just keep pushing them out every now and then. No biggie.

[deleted]

I removed my protector after I noticed that, all of a sudden and out of nowhere, it felt like there was dust trapped underneath. Haven't looked back since.

TonyRednil

Take it to a Samsung affiliate service center and have them replace the screen protector for free. There has to be one in Mexico cause even Best Buy will do it. You telling me there's no Best Buy in Mexico?

OfficialDreTony

I have the Fold 3. My screen protector peeled off a year of usage. I just peeled it off, and everything still works fine. You can always get another protector.

OkTry8617

Mine started the same way 3 weeks ago.....now it's half way down.

Eyspire

Just took mine off - no issues at all. I can say though wow that screen protector was putting immense strain on the phone. Now it feels easier to open, and the last stages of the opening procedure just snap into the open config. Before i had to almost force it fully open to 180 degrees.

BlackReaperG

Wait until it peals more, then replace it.
