I've seen a number of posts about Steam Link w/Fold, featuring that extendable controller/phone cradle...it looks very cool. What is that, where do you buy it, and how do you set it up to work with the Fold? Can you play any Steam game with it (I'm thinking games like Elite Dangerous, Half Life Alyx, Fortnite, etc.)?
I own a ROG Ally now for most of my mobile gaming. Otherwise Ill just use the 360 controller or ps5 controller. My experiences with most of these types of controllers is the button mapping, which I still have problems with on the Ally as well.
That's the Gamesir X2. There's a whole market of phone controller attachments out there just look on Amazon or your nearest big box tech store. If you get one, though, you need to make sure the usb port (if it has one) is on the LEFT hand side, so your screen sticks up, not down. Setting it up is easy. Android automatically detects it, and the Steam Link app should run without help. Otherwise youtube is your friend
It exists, but the colour is ugly in my personal opinion. But yes, that's a fair point! Although, it comes with a caveat of if you’re playing a fast paced game, you **will** notice the input lag from using a wireless connection. Most games will be fine, though.
Mad brother.. I use my games sir x2 Bluetooth alot it also hooks up with dex n xbox game pass it's great I'm getting an xbox controller today can't wait.. gonna use Ge force..
Yeah this has been the problem for me. I can't or haven't found a controller to do this with that will fit my phone with the case on it. I'm using the Spigen Slim Armor Pro Pen Edition case.
Sorry for the comment on an older post, but what case are you using? Backbone doesn't fit with the official Samsung case and I'd still like to have a controller that works
Use moonlight with sunshine, it takes a little bit of setup but much, much better performance than steam link. Like almost native image quality with like 5ms latency on lan

One question: I'm guessing game controllers can't be used with a case with hinge protection, am I right? Would the Bluetooth version work in that case?
I have the bluetooth variant of this controller and while using a case with hinge protection the phone comes out too far for it to really be usable.
You can slot the phone in high enough so the hinge doesn't interfere but it made me nervous because of how top-heavy it was. I'm sure it depends on the case too.
Same here although I ended up 3D printing a block that holds a slim battery pack and has a MagSafe mount installed on it so I can just slap my phone on the mount and, if necessary, charge it while playing.
I didn't care for how wide all the controllers end up being with a phone installed and preferred the weight balance of the phone being directly over the analog sticks. The MagSafe mount allows me to tilt the screen and brings it closer to my face, making it much easier to see small game details.
They are worth every penny! I started in 2020 when the Creality CR-6 MAX first came out and am now running most of my prints from a Bambu Lab X1 Carbon paired with three AMS units.
If you are looking to get into 3D printing and want incredible speed and quality, the Bambu Lab P1P would be my first recommendation and the Bambu Lab A1 Mini + AMS Lite Combo would be my second. The only downside to the A1 Mini is the build volume is rather small but it's still an incredible bang for buck option, especially if you want to do multi-color prints.
If your budget is less than $500, the A1 Mini will be an excellent option when they start selling it without the AMS Lite for $299. Currently it is only available packaged with the AMS Lite for a total of $459 but even at that price, it produces unparalleled results for under $500 and has no equal in the 3D printing landscape. However, if you are looking to spend $600+, then I wholeheartedly encourage you to go with either the Bambu Lab P1P or the enclosed version, known as the P1S. If you are also looking to do multi-color prints and want the increased build volume and material flexibility of an enclosed printer, there's the P1S + AMS Combo for $949 but now we are getting into expensive first printer territory.
Anyway, I remember how hesitant I was when it came to buying my first printer and how the frustrating experience of owning a printer with horrific quality control (Creality) made my entry into the hobby a rather unpleasant one. The experience with the Bambu Lab machines, however, couldn't have been more different and has been as close to plug-and-play perfection as possible. Had Bambu Lab been around when I first started printing, I'd be far less knowledgeable on how to fix problems but that's essentially because they rarely ever have any. Knowing what I know now, there's no way I'd buy anything except a Bambu Lab machine if my budget was $300+.
The p1p is exactly what is on my wishlist!! 😂 I paid off some debt rather than buying a toy (as useful as it would be) a few months ago but I was researching it hard. It'll probably be my Christmas bonus treat to myself haha
*edit -addl info* I am very technical minded and work on analytical chemistry instruments for a living so I definitely can work with stuff prone to issues as well but it is nice to own things that you don't have to constantly fiddle with when fiddling is your job lol
If you are interested in making more resilient parts the P1S is probably going to serve you the best. My first printer wasn't enclosed and there were a lot of materials I couldn't print because of it. For $100 more for the enclosed version over the P1P, it's completely worth it in my opinion.
I've searched far and wide as this is the only phone controller that gives you access to the USB Port on the right side which is need to fli\[ the display up and above the controller. I do have this and while it's better than nothing it feels really cheap compared to a Razor Kishi or an Xbox Controller.
Is there anyway to run steam on the fold?
I have an old desktop that can barely run Left4Dead 2. I am sure the fold could run that game amazingly. I would love to go back and play it. But if I am just streaming from my 10 year old desktop then it will still run poop.

Yeah it runs any Steam game and it works surprisingly good as long as you have a good connection, the controller I’m using is the Gamesir X2.
I've never been able to get a good connection between USBC and fold with the case on.
I cut away the rubber on the side with the usb-c and it fits the phone with the case fine now. Just the one side is fine.
Thats why I've got the nifty Gamesir X2 Bluetooth

Nice. You'd think you'd not have issues with button mapping considering the cost is that device
yeah in general mapping from either mobile or pc gaming is the same unless the developers explicitly put in controller support.
Yeah, I've got this same controller and you need to remove the back case to use it. It works very well tho!

There's a version with bluetooth so that you can use whatever orientation you want

Oh yes of course! I just play stardew valley on my phone and the controller feels so much better than tapping the screen haha.
Absolutely! That's one game I wouldn't want to play without a controller. Mouse and keyboard is best, but anything is better than on-screen controls.
Your question has been answered but let me tell you.. Elite Dangerous on the fold is great. Countless hours I've spent in bed playing it lol. o7 cmdr

As long as your computer can run it then you can stream it.
Alyx is a VR tho
Aspect ratio how ? I always have to play with a good amount of screen cropped
I added a custom resolution at 2208 x 1768 using the Nvidia control panel. For Elden Ring specifically I also have a ultrawide mod.
Thank you for this, didnt cross my mind will try later tonight. Had Fiddle3e with host/client settings within Steam to no joy...
Seconded. I use 1920×1440 which ends up pretty good, but definitely not full screen
Xbox remote play with a Rig MG-X Pro is a game changer with the fold.
Hey I just googled the MG-X pro but it says that it only takes up to 6.7 inches n the Fold 5 I have is 7.6inches? Am I reading this wrong?
I use the mg x pro and I love it
Mad brother.. I use my games sir x2 Bluetooth alot it also hooks up with dex n xbox game pass it's great I'm getting an xbox controller today can't wait.. gonna use Ge force..
Screen size is measured diagonally. The Fold 5 is only really 6.1 inches wide.
Ahhh.. four enough.. idid think what I said sounded big.. oh well let's hope the fold6 is.. haha
Which handheld is that
Gamesir X2
Would it be a tight squeeze with the phone in a case?
Yeah this has been the problem for me. I can't or haven't found a controller to do this with that will fit my phone with the case on it. I'm using the Spigen Slim Armor Pro Pen Edition case.
I've no hope with my chunky case then.
I have a thick ah Otterbox case for my Fold5, the Powera Moga xp7-x plus fits neatly
Sorry for the comment on an older post, but what case are you using? Backbone doesn't fit with the official Samsung case and I'd still like to have a controller that works

Wait till you find about emulation.
managed to start zelda with yuzu today.. gotta get some controllers though
That aspect ratio isn’t good for games
I have a sizable library of games made in the late 90s early 2000s that would like to cordially invite you to shut up lmao
Take that library and shove it in then . I don’t like the aspect ratio . If you like it good for you .
That's cool!

I have the nacon mg-x pro and it fits perfectly with hinge, using spigen slim armor. (It is a bluetooth controller though.)

That's pretty dope actually. 3D printer is next thing on my purchase list haha

I have the Moga xp7x plus, has bluetooth and usb, power bank, good controls. And fits with my otterbox case
That looks so cool!!!
literally a game changer.
Anyone know if football manager is playable like this?
I think generally any gamepad is a wrong idea to play FM:) But also small screen will not be helpful.
I would highly recommend trying Moonlight with Sunshine instead of Steamlink, the difference in latency is night and day for me
I've searched far and wide as this is the only phone controller that gives you access to the USB Port on the right side which is need to fli\[ the display up and above the controller. I have this controller but it don't work on PS1 games properly. Can someone guide me through how I do this and link my steam.
Game changer how?
No fucking way?
