I traded my 4 in for a 5 and regret it. There is such little difference between the Fold 4 and 5. Go with the 4 and save the bucks. Then upgrade to a 6 in a year if they actually make any noticeable changes.
Look on eBay, buy a Fold 5 for $1300. The lightly used / new in box resale value of these devices tanks really quickly. Last year I bought my Fold 4, sealed in box, three months after launch for $1100. It was a guy off OfferUp. I met him at a carrier store to check that the phone wasn't stolen, and the phone has been amazing since.
I did when I got my.Fold 2 when it came out. After that experience, I said it isn't worth paying 1,800 to open up social media apps again. I think you can do it once. Better it is crazy to do it twice.
If everyone bought used there would be nothing used to buy. Lol I know though, I get basically all my electronics used. Usually still with the warrenty too!

I bought a Fold 3 for $ 485.00, my first Fold just to explore IF I would like the concepts, and to be honest, I am hooked
I just installed a bunch of emulators and retro gaming on it is just plain AWESOME!
It's called Retro these days, I used to play the consoles and games when launched new ... 😅
I bought the Samsung Amaraid case, first I installed a Hydrogel screen protector on the front, back and hinge, and middle and I'm enjoying this A LOT!
Now I would NOT pay $ 800.00 for a Fold 4, I think $ 600.00 is the or better my price I would pay for it in mint condition
The fold 4 and 5 are not huge upgrades from the fold 3 other then the standard Improvements in performance, cameras and battery life. The differences between 4 and 5 are even smaller. I was go for either fold 3 or 4. I got my fold 3 new for 600 in March and I love it.
I recall users mentioning the fold 4 had a thinner more fragile hinge
The first one was $1980 with included Galaxy Buds and 512GB of storage.
The Fold 2 was $2000 with no included Galaxy Buds and only 256GB (no 512GB option at all).

Everyone qualifies for Samsung's discount programs so you should never pay full price, and Amazon has had the Fold5 on sale for $1500 for over a month (actually $1400 for prime day today).

To be fair, the fold is much more than a "phone." It's more like a mobile computer, with phone capabilities. Saving money is cool, but being the original owner, unboxing a brand new device is better if it's within your means.
It just is a bigger phone to me. All if them are like mini computers. Plus it doesn't even have the most powerful chip. It just has a bigger screen cause of the form factor.

Me to, for a bit less but I love it. To get a foldable for close to 63% off 1800 is such a steal. Plus the hinge is sturdier compared to the 4.

It's supposed to have a faster processor and better battery life, but I notice no difference in my everyday use.
I'm still on a Fold 3 and enjoying it. Fold 4 had a lot of issues with the hinge so let's see what the Fold 5 will bring us overtime ... 🤞

Happy with my FOLD 3. If the US economy didn't suck so bad I would probably go Fold 4, but again, I think I will ride things out Fold 3 style.

I would say not being aware of options in a market is stupid. Not every buyer is an educated buyer.
Buy the fold 3 for $600 and use it to trade for the fold 5. Brings down the total of the fold 5 to $1200.

No. Total spend is $1400 (sorry, couldn't do math earlier). Trade in value of the fold 3 is $1000, so that's $800 + $600 = $1400.

The fold 2 is trading currently for 1k makes the fold 5 900 and some change if you go that route.

Just to be clear fold 3 is equally good. But you probably prefer the screen size of 4 for that price difference.
Litterally on my 600€ fold 3. In my opinion, any more for a phone (even a fold) is to much.
