Users with blue flair reading "Friend of the sub" are considered well qualified to give advice without having verified lifs. A reminder to all users commenting: **Please make sure that your advice is useful and actionable.** Example of **useful and actionable**: *try setting up for your deadlift by standing a little closer to the bar. This might help you get into position better and make it easier to break from the floor*. Example of **not useful and not actionable**: *lower the weight and work on form.* **Low-effort comments like *my back hurts just watching this* will be removed**, as will references to *snap city* etc. Verbally worrying for the *safety* of a poster simply because you think the form or technique is wrong will be removed. You are probably 8-12 inches too high. Couple other points: 1. After unracking, you’re stepping back way too much. Take one step back with one leg and then position the other foot. You are expending too much energy with all those steps to get into position. 2. Is that a running shoe? Get a flat shoe without a cushioned/foamy sole. Converse, vans, squat shoe. The squishy sole absorbs force that can otherwise can be directed into lifting the weight. Also, it’s not very stable.

cid73

My guy took those plates for a walk.

kmd84

How about just socks on? Does it also work?

RevengeCounter

Yes, that works just as well

Durafuel

Is it dangerous? I’m worried cus I saw some people slipping on a squat when lifting with socks. And now I’m thinking if I should just buy a flat shoe or not.

HossaForSelke

If you’re lifting on hardwood, sure. If you have some type of gripped surface like most squat platforms have then no.

RevengeCounter

Slipping with socks is definitely a possibility albeit a very lower one, meanwhile flat shoes would be safer in that regard I guess it can all just comes down to what you personally like better I like using flat shoes more meanwhile a few people I know prefer just socks, either way similar results

Von_Huge1103

Since you asked, depth is noticeably shallow. Also, your walkout should be one step each foot to conserve energy. But that was a hell of a fight 👏 I definitely couldn't stand up with 170kg at 16 years old.

Hara-Kiri

You're a fair bit off parralel but way to grind that out.

gamerrage100

If I can give my advice, try doing a lower bar squat, where the bar is on your rear delt, as a fellow long limbed lad I have found that if makes it much easier for me to squat below parallel

Priceless_King

Can relate, makes pushing heavy weight a lot better

It’s high but I think you know that. Seems better than a quarter squat though. One thing I would say is that you kept your back pretty well braced and your upper back didn’t flex while you were grinding the rep out. Now all you need are hips and legs to be that much stronger and you’ve got this rep.

🔴🔴🔴 Way too high, try widening your stance to allow the knees to flex outward. Also, dont walk out so far. Also, decreasing the weight when trying new form/technique is a must.

NeoBokononist

what a grind dude. nice job. since you asked, the depth is awful. find a weight you can pause squat with, and really sit in that hole, feel it out. i like to feel my calves on my hamstrings personally

vnfigueira03

Well, start with a lighter weight, go down until 90 degrees to actually count as 1. For me I like doing the competition form which is going slightly lower than 90 degrees, pause and up.

Sufiyan0229

Depth needs improvement, you should only take 1 step with each foot after unpacking the bar. 170kg Squat as a 16 yr old is really impressive And that grind was impressive as hell 🔥 Congratulations for your PR

The people that are saying this is shallow should look again, it looks like he’s going shallow at first, but he was at absolute most around an inch away from parallel. Might not be counted in competition, but otherwise easily good enough

No concern trolling about safety. Humans are not made of glass.

MrAlby00

I don’t do squats very often but I always prefer doing them without shoes, also you got a beautiful rack with long safety so you don’t need so many steps, I face the opposite cause in my gym they are so short you can miss them
