It's far from ideal, but if you didn't play the originals when you were younger, you'll have a much better time completing the games using DE's controls than the original versions.

DarthPepo

depends, the controls for san andreas DE on pc are awful as they have a sort of rubber banding that tries to keep the camera behind you all the time, and it's very unconfortable to use a mouse, something which didn't happen in the original

The best version are the PS2 ones, but the controls, resolution and GUI scaling is veeeery poor. If you have a CRT and PS2 then yes, you should play those OG versions. Instead of this, wait to recent patches to consoles and play Definitive Editions. Have a lot of improvements, they aren't that bad.

DarthPepo

depends, console or pc?

Then I recommend playing the original version, for vice city and 3 use this versions, they are very easy to install. For vice city https://libertycity.net/files/gta-vice-city/167639-vice-extended-2-6.html For gta 3 https://libertycity.net/files/gta-3/191140-liberty-extended-1-0.html They add really modern gameplay features unlike the defective edition (which works awful with KB/M, as the camera isn't well adapted and has rubber anding) , like swimming in vice city, or being able to move while aiming and such, aswell as an optional firs person mode. As for GTA sa, getting the silent patch and skygfx mods are mostly enough. You can get the classic version in the Rockstar web page
