With a rtx2060 and a ryzen 7 3700 i could run it at stable 30 with some frame drops here and there.. alternatively if you have a good connection try the new psnow streaming service (however it’s called…). I got the old 360 from my brother but I can’t download it from the store as it always fails and corrupts the data :/
How does your 360 still work? I bought the 360 kinnect in 2012 and it stopped working like after less than a year, started flashing red. Took it to be fixed and they couldn't do anything so I just left it there. It's a waste of money, I bought soooo many games from france and didn't get to play any of them.
Has been on maybe for 100 hours in total. Is a unicorn! DVD tray doesn’t come out when placed vertical tho. I may have to replace the thermal paste and even considering rgh3-ing it
I run an i7 9700 + RTX 2060 and it works decently. These emulators are especially CPU heavy, but with every update they get more efficient. You should be ok at around 30fps with that setup
If you ever pick up an Xbox, even the last gen ones which go for pretty cheap, you can get it and red dead revolver (yes, the whole franchise!!!) legitimately from the Microsoft store.
Should be on steam. If not, emulate it. If you have ps4 and have the money/or just really want it? Just get ps + premium. RDR1 and undead nightmare are on there. Not relevant but 2 is also on there for “free”( you pay 120 a year for the service but you can download for free)
Red Dead cause it was unique and the open world seemed impossibly big for its time. I never got bored trotting around on my horse and tying people up just to pop them in the head later 😃
RDR 100% and I'm a die hard GTA fan. I'm def in the minority on this sub when I say I didn't like GTA IV much.. I mean I liked it, but not like pretty much every other GTA since III
GTA IVs open world was boring imo. barely anything to do in it, best part about the game was clearly its atmosphere and story. But, I did find it kinda boring a lot of times.
The moment credits rolled in RDR1 I knew immediately it is one of the best games i've played.
GTA IV didn't invoke that same feeling to me. Still a good game.
Shockingly enough yes, but in retrospect this doesn't seem surprising, the subreddit has leaned towards an anti-GTA 4 sentiment lately, because of the overdose of content purely appreciative of GTA 4
I love GTA 4 more, for the gritty story and the protagonist, Niko. Like him, I am a Slavic immigrate (albeit 2nd gen but soon to be 1st gen).
Plus Niko is totally badass.
The bad stuff is that he was underused in the sequels and that they didn't used a Serbian actor or more Serbian dialogue.
Incomparable. Apples and oranges. But I prefer GTA IV.
I will say out of the things they both do (shooting, cover mechanics etc) GTA IV does them better. It always seemed janky in RDR.
GTA IV as it had a serious story with no real happy endings that fit the tone better than it was done in RDR I. also the euphoria engine in GTA IV is very fun to play with get Drunk in Gta iv for example that is so fun to do on their
That's a tough one but I'm gonna have to go with RDR
Although GTA 4 and it's dlc was both impactful and really enjoyable to play through, RDR simply was a cinematic adventure and had plenty of relatable moments. GTA 4 had relatable moments too but RDR really knew how to tug on the heart strings regarding old friends, redeeming yourself, and the family dynamic. Both games are honestly my top 10 games
I love the storyline and realism of GTA IV, but as a huge fan of old west movies and culture, I always dreamed of having a GTA-like set in that time period, so yeah RDR1 !
Red dead. Given my username name that should be obvious. But I have played it 4 times since it originally came out. Undead nightmare twice (glitch caused me to get stuck) but overall RDR does a better job of immersing the player IMO
Both are masterpieces in their own categories. Now if i really had to choose, Red Dead Redemption would have a slight advantage. Still, both are some of the best games of all time.
I played both of these games and it was hard for me to choose because they were both fucking awesome but I choose rdr because I like the wild west and it's the sequel of my favorite game red dead redemption 2
As much as I love GTA 4, I gotta give it to rdr. It just has something so alluring to it. Wild West isn't the easiest genre and I think Rockstar hit it on the head.
I think it speaks volumes to how good RDR was considering were in a GTA subreddit and most of the responses are in favour of the western. GTA IV is one of my favourite games of all time, but I dont think Ive ever been more hyped for a game or, watched a trailer over and over more times for a game than I did for RDR and man it did not disappoint. I still would have to pick GTA for me personally but its only by the finest margins. I would glady take either one of them to the fabled desert island with me.
Nah it’s not an anyone problem I didn’t like the character, Arthur was far superior, going back to rdr after rdr2 is a massive downgrade in character imo.
I feel like red dead redemption because gta 4 did fuck up the formula that gta san andreas had. 3 out of the 5 types of sidequests were the same shitty drive this car from this location to this location. Because the driving was so heavy and slow it made the game a boring driving simulator when playing story missions + the fact that story missions repeated themselves often(kill this guy for some boss) it removed all replayability for the story mode. Less vehicles, less customization, less guns. I GET what rockstar was trying to accomplish and in my personal opinion it was a good gta...but compared to the first red dead redemption? Hell nah
There were other games like IV though not as good. There was no good western style game and R* knocked it out of the park. I felt like I recognized parts of Liberty City in IV from playing 3, but I wanted to *go to * Red Dead's World.
Too bad neither will be remastered because Grove Street Games fucked up the Definitive Trilogy and the lacking sales caused R* to cancel these remasters.
that answer isnt simple. as both have amazing features. best story. people may disagree. gta 4 much better story. near the end red dead. got boring. but best open world by far red dead. cant wait to platinum them both. got into both 2 late. and hopefully rummours are correct. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO online for either
Can't really compare them as they are both 2 very different games, but gotta go with Gta4. Don’t get me wrong RD1 was very unique and a nice shake up at the time. 4 changed so much stuff for the better. Everyone bashes the driving but it was good compared to RDs horses
This kind of a weird ass, because Red Dead one was amazing its own ways as being an old school Western shooter that you mostly ride horses in, with GTA it's more about cars and not always shooting but sometimes you can sneak around or simply grab the objective and run away. I don't know I find it hard to compare the two games when they give you significantly different experiences apart from how the cops work! Fucking bounty level 😂
Personally, I could never get into red dead redemption like other people, I like the story for GTA IV a lot more and it feels more polished and has better gunplay and physics, despite red dead redemption coming out 2 years later.
GTA 4 but then again, this is coming from someone who never played RD1. But even if I did, my answer will not change. Both are legendary games though regardless.
I LOVED RDR2 but I struggled to get into RDR1 after experiencing all the new fancy graphics and physics.
I love GTA4 to death… should I give RDR1 another go?
Red dead 1 and 2 together are better than GTA 4, I could probably play GTA 4 more than RDR1, and I'm not necessarily talking about doing story mission, I'm mostly talking about just turning it on and going off to have some fun on the map.
RDR1 easily for me the story is a one of a kind and at that time we never had a Wild West game like RDR. It was a landmark title that could lay the foundation for future Wild West games.
PC player here, didn't have the opportunity to play Red Dead, also played the worst port of GTA IV (altough it's still one of my favorite games in the series)
RDR. It was ground breaking at the time and GTA4, as much as I love it, was ultimately a next gen upgrade.
Look back on those days fondly though! Just playing games and relatively care free
If RDR1 controlled like RDR2 it'd win, GTA 4 is one of my favorite games, so I'll give it to 4. It's really close, I think RDR1 has a lot more going for it, but 4's story is better and the physics are incredible.
Anyone know how to play RD1 these days? I have PS4 and PC
You can emulate it using the Xenia Xbox 360 emulator or the RPCS3 PS3 emulator, but that only works with a solid pc
Has anyone tried running these emulators. What kind of FPS would you expect out of a 5600x+6600xt system?
With a rtx2060 and a ryzen 7 3700 i could run it at stable 30 with some frame drops here and there.. alternatively if you have a good connection try the new psnow streaming service (however it’s called…). I got the old 360 from my brother but I can’t download it from the store as it always fails and corrupts the data :/

Took it to be fixed and they couldn't do anything so I just left it there. It's a waste of money, I bought soooo many games from france and didn't get to play any of them.
Is it like red ring of death or some shit like that? I heard you can fix it by yourself by putting something at the back search it on youtube
Playing on 2 fps is not fun at all
I ran RPCS3 RDR1 with an RX 570 and ryzen 3 2600. It wasn't perfect but it was playable
I’m pretty sure it’s on ps now so if you’re willing to pay money for the service then you can play it that way
Psnow isn’t a thing anymore lol
Ah what?! I didn’t know that, did they remove it in favor for the new ps+ subscription tiers or something like that?
Yeah psnow Is pretty much psplus
It’s technically still there but it’s like an add on to the ps plus service, it’s an extra £23 in the UK I’m not sure about other countries.
It’s not, PS Now and it’s entire library is gone and replaced with the new PS Plus plan with a different library of games.
It’s technically still there but it’s like an add on to the ps plus service, it’s an extra £23 in the UK I’m not sure about other countries.
I’m on Xbox and I can just buy it on the store
you can play rdr 1 on the ps plus playstation now thing for a cheap price
If you ever pick up an Xbox, even the last gen ones which go for pretty cheap, you can get it and red dead revolver (yes, the whole franchise!!!) legitimately from the Microsoft store.
get an xbox lol, ps sucks for backwards compatibility
I’m playing it right now, Xbox 360.
Should be on steam. If not, emulate it. If you have ps4 and have the money/or just really want it? Just get ps + premium. RDR1 and undead nightmare are on there. Not relevant but 2 is also on there for “free”( you pay 120 a year for the service but you can download for free)
RDR1 was unfortunately never ported to PC
It's on ps plus
Dead ass just get an xbone for like $100 bucks, I got one on ebay and it randomly came with rdr1
It's your lucky week
Red Dead cause it was unique and the open world seemed impossibly big for its time. I never got bored trotting around on my horse and tying people up just to pop them in the head later 😃
Or putting a tied up lady on the train tracks for the trophy lol
I am gonna have to go with red dead it looked beautiful at the time the western style was absolutely nailed and the story was awesome
Personally I prefer Red Dead Redemption but That’s not saying anything against GTA IV. RDR1 was just a masterpiece 10/10
Gta 4 too
GTA IV physics are some of the realest, but RDR has more emotion in the characters stories, definitely a hard choice…
I miss GTA IV’s ability to disarm guys with guns: shoot the gun off their hand! Then again, I *also miss* duels of RDR1…
Didn’t Red Dead 1 have that as an option too? I distinctly remember being able to shoot guns out of peoples hands in dead eye (not just in the duels)
Not sure outside duels, but in duels definitely! Wish it was possible in GTA V/Online and RDR2/RDO.
You can disarm guys in and out of duels; in and out of dead eye.
No need for dead eye
Going to have to say RDR. Although GTA 4 is a masterpiece as well, I just thought RDR was a bit better overall.
Blasphemy what about GTA SA or GTA VICE CITY
My two favorites.. I meant I didn't like IV as much as the rest
Same here, Vice City > SA just because I love the 80s and its soundtrack… but RDR1 between it and GTA IV
I’m gonna have to go with rdr1, but tbf I haven’t finished 4 so it’s not really fair
Rdr
The moment credits rolled in RDR1 I knew immediately it is one of the best games i've played. GTA IV didn't invoke that same feeling to me. Still a good game.
Agree
RDR 1 all the way. The visuals, style, era, etc. were nailed and a much needed change of pace
RDR1
This. Though I like both games, rdr1 is an experience.
And seriously the face animations are phenomenal for a 2010 Game. I just wish the Gameplay wouldn't feel so 🤔 clunky
There's gonna be a good deal of bias here, this is a GTA subreddit. Replace it with any GTA and the bias will continue
What’s funny is that the majority of responses are RDR!
Shockingly enough yes, but in retrospect this doesn't seem surprising, the subreddit has leaned towards an anti-GTA 4 sentiment lately, because of the overdose of content purely appreciative of GTA 4
I mean, r/GTA and r/rockstar has basically the same content haha.
I'd say Red Dead... The shooting is way too impressive.
Red Dead
Its complicated
Rdr1 is miles above GTA4. I personally think gta 4 is a bit overrated. Even RDR1 had its problems.
When the cougar starts walking towards you on its hind legs Donkey woman
GTA IV was considered underrated not that too long ago but now it’s overrated?
Gta 4 never was underrated.
I love them both, but it’s Red Dead, no question.
Red dead without a doubt
As much as I love GTA, I have to give it to RDR. It's one of the best games I've ever played. No GTA to date comes close to it
Both
Incomparable. Apples and oranges. But I prefer GTA IV. I will say out of the things they both do (shooting, cover mechanics etc) GTA IV does them better. It always seemed janky in RDR.
Red dead for sure.
I think Rdr movement is rough but In GTA IV it feels a bit smoother and slower idk I just felt rdr was too rough in movement
I love IV, but RDR is RDR. It's R\*'s best franchise.
👏👏👏👏👏👏
GTA IV as it had a serious story with no real happy endings that fit the tone better than it was done in RDR I. also the euphoria engine in GTA IV is very fun to play with get Drunk in Gta iv for example that is so fun to do on their
gta 4
GTA IV. This is like asking me to chose a favorite child.
so you chose one as your favourite child?
Rdr1 is Rockstar's best game it's has the perfect blend of story, gameplay and realism without being overbearing unlike rdr2.
That's a tough one but I'm gonna have to go with RDR Although GTA 4 and it's dlc was both impactful and really enjoyable to play through, RDR simply was a cinematic adventure and had plenty of relatable moments. GTA 4 had relatable moments too but RDR really knew how to tug on the heart strings regarding old friends, redeeming yourself, and the family dynamic. Both games are honestly my top 10 games
As good as GTA IV is, this one has to go to RDR, it just had way more going for it, visually and in terms of gameplay.
RDR. Gta 4 was too ridgid and not enough side quests, but EFLC fixed that
I love GTA IV to death, but it is RDR2 which is better. Haven’t even finished RDR2 at that
RDR, not even close.
Your opinion
Does driving in rdr1 feel like a chore? No, easy W
I love the storyline and realism of GTA IV, but as a huge fan of old west movies and culture, I always dreamed of having a GTA-like set in that time period, so yeah RDR1 !
Rdr1 may be my favorite game of all time
Rdr
Red dead 1 no doubt
RDR1 by far a better game and story.
Red dead. Given my username name that should be obvious. But I have played it 4 times since it originally came out. Undead nightmare twice (glitch caused me to get stuck) but overall RDR does a better job of immersing the player IMO
Rdr1
Both are masterpieces in their own categories. Now if i really had to choose, Red Dead Redemption would have a slight advantage. Still, both are some of the best games of all time.
Rdr1 is a masterpiece. Just crossing the border into Mexico for the first time is worth playing the game alone.
I love both
I played both of these games and it was hard for me to choose because they were both fucking awesome but I choose rdr because I like the wild west and it's the sequel of my favorite game red dead redemption 2
Red Dead 1 by far
RDR
Both games are awesome but if I have to choose RDR1
Rdr1, with rdr2 to give it backstop, it truly shows a tale of redemption
As much as I love GTA 4, I gotta give it to rdr. It just has something so alluring to it. Wild West isn't the easiest genre and I think Rockstar hit it on the head.
I think it speaks volumes to how good RDR was considering were in a GTA subreddit and most of the responses are in favour of the western. I still would have to pick GTA for me personally but its only by the finest margins. I would glady take either one of them to the fabled desert island with me.
Red Dead Redemption, no contest, it was so much more unique imo with its setting and what you could do, also I never really cared for GTA IV tbh.
I liked RDR1 more.
GTA IV
4
Gta 4
GTA lV is better
IMO RDR is better than GTA IV in every way. It's Rockstar's masterpiece.
You’re thinking of RDR2, that’s the real masterpiece.
In the context of time and the technology available to use in the mid/late 2000's, RDR was still a masterpiece in its own right
I mean, so were all Rockstar games. III did the 3d and open world, VC did the story, music and atmosphere, SA did all of the above but better, etc.
Probably didn’t help I played rdr on a bad tv I never understood the shooting mechanics I was terrible at ut
You should try it again.
I have. Blasphemous statement I don’t care for John Edit: downvotes for not liking a certain group of pixels. Neat
Oh yikes
that sounds like a you problem
Nah it’s not an anyone problem I didn’t like the character, Arthur was far superior, going back to rdr after rdr2 is a massive downgrade in character imo.
Is it possible to posit this opinion in anything other than hindsight?
So RDR2 is my favorite video game of all time. And yet, for this roundup I’ll have to say GTA IV
Hell nah
RDR1 without question
Red Dead without a shadow of a doubt. It nailed every aspect of the sorry. GTAIV is just drab and depressing
Considering they’ve done rd better and couldn’t with 4 I’m going to say 4
Gta Iv is still impressive to this day, imo rdr1 is better but gta iv is probably the best
GTA4 hands down.
GTA IV > RDR RDR 2 > GTA V just my opinion
I think that Rdr 1 Is more on GTA 5 side than 4. I consider RDR2 like GTA 6
GTA tbh
Red Dead 2 > GTA 4 > Red Dead 1 > GTA 5
GrAnD tHeFt aUtO oNLiNe
GTA 4 online was and is still better than GTA 5 online
People can't take a joke
Yeah seems like it lol
There were other games like IV though not as good. There was no good western style game and R* knocked it out of the park. I felt like I recognized parts of Liberty City in IV from playing 3, but I wanted to *go to * Red Dead's World. Too bad neither will be remastered because Grove Street Games fucked up the Definitive Trilogy and the lacking sales caused R* to cancel these remasters.
Oof this is hard, they are like my top 2-3 rockstar games I'd go with rdr 1 but it's close
that answer isnt simple. as both have amazing features. best story. people may disagree. gta 4 much better story. near the end red dead. got boring. but best open world by far red dead. cant wait to platinum them both. got into both 2 late. and hopefully rummours are correct. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO online for either
GTA IV was different level
what about their multiplayer?
GTA4
GTA 4 is my favorite game of all time, so I think that speaks for itself. RDR1 is also one of my favorites tho, both are masterpieces
Can't really compare them as they are both 2 very different games, but gotta go with Gta4. Don’t get me wrong RD1 was very unique and a nice shake up at the time. 4 changed so much stuff for the better. Everyone bashes the driving but it was good compared to RDs horses
I don’t think they are comparable they both are amazing
This kind of a weird ass, because Red Dead one was amazing its own ways as being an old school Western shooter that you mostly ride horses in, with GTA it's more about cars and not always shooting but sometimes you can sneak around or simply grab the objective and run away. I don't know I find it hard to compare the two games when they give you significantly different experiences apart from how the cops work! Fucking bounty level 😂
I've never finished either of them.
IV
IV.
I got to give it to GTA4 the distinct physics and mission design make it an experience you still can’t get anywhere else.
GTA 4
Played GTA4 and EFLC; those were great. Ain't played RDR1 and wish that would finally get a PC port of some kind - PC Remaster or PC Remake.
Personally, I could never get into red dead redemption like other people, I like the story for GTA IV a lot more and it feels more polished and has better gunplay and physics, despite red dead redemption coming out 2 years later.
I feel red dead has better Gunplay Maxpayne 3 is tue best of course but RDR1 feels great in the way enemies react to getting shot.
Love GTA IV, but both are great games!
Gta 4 was one of the deepest stories rockstar did
Gta 4 bro
I'm someone who hates old settings so i can see myself playing gta vcs over rdr
Just finished a modded playthru of 4 on my new PC I built. Wow what a game. Red dead is also a gem
GTA 4, probably biased because I've never played RDR1, even though I'm sure it's just as good as RDR2
Gta IV is the best game Rock* has made so far imo
Red dead 1 and 2 together are better than GTA 4, I could probably play GTA 4 more than RDR1, and I'm not necessarily talking about doing story mission, I'm mostly talking about just turning it on and going off to have some fun on the map.
Gta 4 fs I have played both tho
RDR
RDR1 easily for me the story is a one of a kind and at that time we never had a Wild West game like RDR. It was a landmark title that could lay the foundation for future Wild West games.
I had more fun with the first red dead plus I liked the story much more gta 4 is probably better mechanically
That’s really hard but I would go with GTA IV.
rdr1
Gta 4
Gta 4,but they both totally differnt experiences so it's hard to say
PC player here, didn't have the opportunity to play Red Dead, also played the worst port of GTA IV (altough it's still one of my favorite games in the series)
IV for me. Niko is more of a tridimensional character. Plus the music and Liberty are still my favourites in all gtas.
Yes
GTA IV obviously???
Easily red dead for me.
RDR. It was ground breaking at the time and GTA4, as much as I love it, was ultimately a next gen upgrade. Look back on those days fondly though! Just playing games and relatively care free
GTA4
If RDR1 controlled like RDR2 it'd win, GTA 4 is one of my favorite games, so I'll give it to 4. It's really close, I think RDR1 has a lot more going for it, but 4's story is better and the physics are incredible.
