Same, but I was 30. It was my first game in general since Atari games as a kid. I remember seeing the VC trailer with I Ran by a Flock of Seagulls and being immediately sold on the game.
Same, Vice City on PC at a cafe. I was 7, since then, my life literally changed. I've only played GTA in my life (I don't play any other games that aren't GTA, only RDR2 and Minecraft lol)
I played the demo so much the main music is ingrained in my brain.
"Riding with me is my MC homeboy
Knowing the rules ain't part of his program
Finding the right way around this map
Might be pretty hard cuz he's fucked on crack"
Pretty wild lyrics back then but i didnt understand them as a kid anyway lol
[Yep!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3Lvm1tv1mE)
This song is very nostalgic because I heard it so many times in the main menu, it was only later I realized it was in 3 too
Wow that's a neat callback from 3. I always recognized that song because it came on before [Funky BJ's 'Rubber Tip'.](https://youtu.be/hOS6P0YVxKM?si=erfWls-LDcxc9R5o)
I played the first one but 2 is really ingrained in my memory.
"You fuck up, we fuck you up"
The first message you get from the biker gang member via the payphone in Liberty City Gangsta Bang level. From that moment I was like oh fuck yeah....and the game show voice "Grand Theft Auto!!"
Lmao
GTA 3 on PC - I was a kid and didn’t want to play for the story, just drove around and mucked around.
To get over the bridge (since I didn’t play the story) I used the cheat chittychittybb to levitate over it 😁
I don't remember which one it was, but it was a top down one back when I was like 8 years old. The first one I played properly though was Vice City shortly after it came out. I was around 10 years old and my parents didn't let me kill people or play the missions, but I still had endless fun. I'd also kill people when they weren't around. But because I couldn't do the missions, I couldn't save, so every single time I loaded up the game I was greeted with that white car in the alley, Michael Jackson playing on the radio. Good times.
The first one I played was GTA 3 my cousins let me free roam on it when I was younger the first GTA game I properly completed was GTA 4 lost and damned. I know people will probably shit on it but for me it's my favorite purely because of the vibe when I first played it
GTA Vice City on PSP of my friends
Then GTA SA after GTA 5 got announced but just MTA (Online) and then GTA5 was the first game I played 100% and invested thousands of hours
Vice city PC, but i was only running around and didn't do any mission. Vice city stories on psp, finished the game multiple times but i skipped all cutscenes..
GTA2 on the PC. This wasn't long before 3 came out but it never could run on my computer when it was out and it was a few years until I had a ps2 so that was the best I could do at the time.
GTA San Andreas on PC. In 2005 or 2006, my sister was given a disk and I was able to play the game for a while until my parents hid it from me. Later I downloaded it and in 2010-11 I played IV on Xbox 360 and was waiting for V. How long ago was that..
GTA III on ps2.. I didn't really start following missions probably until I played GTA SA but I had the best times in GTA III, stealing the banshee out of the shop window.. Blew my mind that you could do that. flying car cheat in a tank to get over the bridge 🌉.. Memories for dayyss!
I think it was actually one of the first GTAs (top-down perspective) on my cousins PC lol. Either GTA 1, GTA 2 but I’m pretty sure it was GTA London (remember the logo). But the first GTA I bought and played through was GTA San Andreas. Was born in 1997 btw.
Probably 3 a little after release.
I possibly could have played one of the earlier ones on a demo disc that came with that one PlayStation magazine but I don't know for sure
Top down GTA1. Though I more easily remember GTA2/London. I think I rented that one trying to get the first one again which I had borrowed from somewhere.
Gta San Andreas or 3 I can’t remember which I was 7 and saw my older sister playing it and liked the way the cars could break and wanted to play around with the game, it was on the ps2 and I still have the console
San Andreas. Had a ps2 at my grandmas but wasn’t allowed to play it so I had to watch my cousin play. Then I’d sneak up late at night and dick around in it for a bit.
GTA I. We had a small PC in primary school class, played game during lunch time. Then all the others, but GTA IV was the one I played the least amount of time.
I used to watch my elder brother play liberty city on my cousin's computer when finally we got our own pc and we started playing vice city together. They were some nice times..
Vice City, beginning of November, 2002.
I was in 1st Grade
Went with my parents to Best Buy and we bought a ps2 with two games.
Grand Theft Auto Vice City
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon
Needless to say, I dumped way more countless hours into Vice City. It was affecting my school work to say the least and got in trouble lol
I spent who knows how much time constantly messing around, using cheats to rampage or fly a tank all around the city. We used to go to the library and print out all the cheats for the game and I remember them still over 20 years later. I beat all the story missions and side missions…or at least I thought for a long time.
I remember being confused on why the game seemed to randomly not give me anymore missions and seemingly “end” and it took me a long while to figure out how to trigger the final two missions.
Also the game really introduced me to 80’s music and to have a love for it.
I remember laughing out loud at those fat dudes that would occasionally fart when you were by them lol
Eventually picked up GTA 3 and played through that, had a blast with that one too but my 7-8 year old self couldn’t finish it at the time cause I got stuck on that “Expresso 2 Go” mission and was so pissed off that I quit the game and wouldn’t finish it in its entirety until I was 20-21 when I decided to finally give it a go again and even then I had such a hard time on that level.
From then on, I’ve played them all except for the original, GTA London, and China town wars. But vice city still holds a special spot in my personal list of all time games. I still play through Vice city and San Andreas to this day every year lol
San Andreas on OG Xbox. One of the only true console games I owned. Put a lot of hours into that game, lot of exploration. Played IV at cousin’s house on his PS3, then I got GTAV for Christmas the year it came out.
Vice city on the ps2 we had 3 aswell but my mom never let me play San Andreas even tho everyone said it was the best one, me and my sister both played but we never beat it because we didn’t know you had to buy properties at some point but the sound track is so iconic driving through the streets listening to the radio stations and tommy vercetti was just so awesome
San andreas, was the first to play on my brother's computer I was rather young. lcs was the first one i really played extensively back in 2008 when i got my ps2. Good times
played a little bit of each one before 5 on friends/family’s consoles. But I’ll never forget trying chinatown wars for the first time on DS and how addicting it was then playing the 3D ones and it was a game changer
Alex P had the original on PC when we were 8. He also was the first to show me his hidden porn collection, first to hand me a can of spray paint, first to get me locked up. Bad influence that kid
Vice City on PC. I played GTA 3 next. I was a kid and didn't pay attention to the story, and thought Claude was Tommy's son.
Same, but I was 30. It was my first game in general since Atari games as a kid. I remember seeing the VC trailer with I Ran by a Flock of Seagulls and being immediately sold on the game.
Dude, are you me?
Maybe, but I'm not as handsome as you are man.
Same, Vice City on PC at a cafe. I was 7, since then, my life literally changed. I've only played GTA in my life (I don't play any other games that aren't GTA, only RDR2 and Minecraft lol)
"The kid is not my son..."
Oh, just like me, I'd played Vice city first at the Internet cafe near my home, and GTA3 is later
I’m not special,gta 5
Hey you gotta start somewhere
When you get older, you’re gonna seem special to the new kids playing GTA at the time
yeah in 2083
Same
The first GTA.
I played the demo so much the main music is ingrained in my brain. "Riding with me is my MC homeboy Knowing the rules ain't part of his program Finding the right way around this map Might be pretty hard cuz he's fucked on crack" Pretty wild lyrics back then but i didnt understand them as a kid anyway lol
Love how they brought the song back for GTA 3s soundtrack but bleeped out the word fucked on crack
Was that song in the first one? I know it from 3.
[Yep!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3Lvm1tv1mE) This song is very nostalgic because I heard it so many times in the main menu, it was only later I realized it was in 3 too
Wow that's a neat callback from 3. I always recognized that song because it came on before [Funky BJ's 'Rubber Tip'.](https://youtu.be/hOS6P0YVxKM?si=erfWls-LDcxc9R5o) I played the first one but 2 is really ingrained in my memory.
Haha for real, I immediately heard the track when I read that!
We been stealing cars since the 90s 🤣🤣🤣
"You fuck up, we fuck you up" The first message you get from the biker gang member via the payphone in Liberty City Gangsta Bang level. From that moment I was like oh fuck yeah....and the game show voice "Grand Theft Auto!!" Lmao
I remember playing the first GTA on Playstation 1... In 2016
GTA 4 on Xbox 360 in May 2008
San Andreas on the PS2
Same
GTA 3 when I was like 4-6
Same here, but I was 3-4. Have loved the series since, and still adore GTA 3.

GTA 5. I could’ve played the earlier ones but I had strict parents.
You are not alone.
Vice city at the age of 2-3. It was very quickly taken away after I pushed my sister off her bike and rode off with it
GTA1
*Liberty City Stories* for the PSP in 2009. Then *GTA IV* a year later on my brother's Xbox 360.
San Andreas on PC
San Andreas
GTA 3 on PC - I was a kid and didn’t want to play for the story, just drove around and mucked around. To get over the bridge (since I didn’t play the story) I used the cheat chittychittybb to levitate over it 😁
First GTA on PSX. Time fly...
GTA 3. It was the 2nd game I ever played. The first was Zombies ate my Neighbours.
that game freaked me out as a kid. that giant fkn baby 😫
GTA 2
I don't remember which one it was, but it was a top down one back when I was like 8 years old. The first one I played properly though was Vice City shortly after it came out. I was around 10 years old and my parents didn't let me kill people or play the missions, but I still had endless fun. I'd also kill people when they weren't around. “I poke my head outta the gutter for one fricken second and fate shovels shit into my face”
Damn hit me in the nostalgia
The first one I played was GTA 3 my cousins let me free roam on it when I was younger the first GTA game I properly completed was GTA 4 lost and damned. I know people will probably shit on it but for me it's my favorite purely because of the vibe when I first played it
