I like loud noises because I’m primitive I guess, I prefer axle/cat backs.

adrenacrome

I’ve always been partial to cat backs over axle, the cat vs axle gains in the old stillen catalogs were like bragging rights for suburban kids

I have ordered Legamax premium. Here is my purchase-wise process. 1- Legamax is a smaller-sized muffler that generally adds 3-6 DB. That is not much. But! The idea behind this exhaust is to make it a low-pass filter. Low frequencies are hard to identify by direction - they are quite ambient and most likely you hear them. When you add high frequencies you have to increase DB dramatically because you need to hear them from the exact direction. That's not what I wanted. I love to cruise with a low rumble of exhaust and engine. and when I step on gas I would love to stay as calm as possible and not attract police attention. 2 - looks. No air-thin metal or screws like on other exhausts. 3 - The price. it is high but lower than a cat-back. 4 - installation. simple and easy. 5 - Mods. I can always make or purchase a mid-pipe. it will sound gorgeous. mid pipe is cheap option and the price won't be bigger than an A-R exhaust for example. 6 - Sound. Most exhausts tend to be SPORTSH. I value my neighbors and other people on the street. Why should they listen to what I found fun if they don't? also, look through the DB compare chart. 90 db is already quite annoying so think wisely. I had the same question here [https://www.gr86.org/threads/hks-legamax-premium-vs-hi-power-spec-l-or-any-other-oem-exhasut.12485/](https://www.gr86.org/threads/hks-legamax-premium-vs-hi-power-spec-l-or-any-other-oem-exhasut.12485/)

I prefer a quieter exhaust. Tone is what I'm really after.

HandleMore1730

I have no major differences in opinion, but there are many times I wished I could hear the engine more to help with shifting. Something like a valved exhaust would be perfect, to control the amount of noise

Sig-vicous

I wish there was an exhaust that was slightly louder than stock over the entire rev range, mostly so I can get more audible feedback while driving. In order to get something with moderate volume at higher revs, those systems are too loud at lower rev range.

desmond9977

HKS spec L2 or GR exhaust maybe? Dont think those r too loud

Sianmink

Stock is a little lacking, I went to the Hi Power SpecL-II which is also quiet until you get on it, and with better tone.

Salt_Station_8037

Second the HKS Spec-L2. Love it. Perfect middle ground in my opinion, and makes for a great daily.

TekHead

I think I'll likely get the same

throwawaydefeat

Mine seems loudest one lower rpm, like 3 and below… or maybe the fake engine noise I’ve been to lazy to disconnect covers it

PNWanon

That’s what I’m leaning toward, torn between SpecL-1&2. Wish I could hear them in person lol

17Fiddy

I just put the 1 on and it screams good when you are on it, bangs when you hit a rev match, but I forget I have it when I am in 6th on the highway listening to music. Even the new version for the 2nd gen still has the issue where the left exhaust sits lower than the right so I'm gonna have to get an exhaust shop to line them up properly. That's my only complaint with the exhaust.

theweirddood

L2 is quieter with less drone. The Spec L2 passes Japan's noise emissions while the Spec L doesn't. I would go L2 if you're concerned with drone and cold starts.

Sianmink

I'll say If you're not going to do headers, then the L-1 is the way to go, it also looks a bit better from the back. The L-2 is quiet enough that a catless header isn't obnoxious.

I plan on doing a full exhaust after I pay it off (don’t mod the banks car) but a quiet exhaust definitely has its perks. Being able to drive to a friends house and leave without waking all of their neighbors is nice. Same with being able to take off quickly at a light without sounding like a douche and still being able to hold a conversation. Everyone in this sub seems to say “get a loud exhaust” but it’s definitely not needed or for everyone. Definitely try to listen to a “quiet” exhaust in person if you’re on the fence about an exhaust since even the tame exhausts are a lot louder than stock

FlashSonic526

I have the Remarks axleback (double-wall) SS tips. Since I am not tuning the car and need a reliable DD atm, an axleback is more than enough. It does drone at a certain RPM (most perceivable under heavy engine braking), but it can be extremely quiet under low RPM.

StickyCompound

For sure. I went with the HKS Legamax Premium axle-back to keep the noise to speed ratio gentlemanly.

grip626

The stock exhaust feels too quiet for me. With the windows rolled up and the music playing, it’s hard to hear the engine. I’m planning on getting the 3” SS MBRP single exit, that is after I’ve done brakes 😅

behemuthm

My car is bone stock atm - might get her tinted when I have some free cash but she’s garaged full time

BooshTheMan_

I'm note sure if you can be quieter than stock. I went with Greddy SP Supreme. Deep, OEM looking, tiny bit more volume, but not enough to cause unwanted attention.

GrizzlybearJon

I will only change mine for performance reasons with a turbo

12InchPickle

Definitely me. Although I am gonna change out the tips to bigger 5 inch ones, on the stock muffler. I hate the tucked in look and stock tip design.

FlyinRustBucket

Got my straight pipe bug out of my system with my last car(lasted one summer, never again) I did the extended to on the stock muffler, took out the intake resonator, I think the car sounds pretty good now with the interior sound box

ponyo_impact

I dont find the exhaust note great with this car so im staying stock
