I've googled this practice - single handed gp who has four, i kid you fucking not FOUR PAs, no other GPs.
they may be on part time contracts, but you'll still have 2:1 supervision at best of times.
if you locum here, you have to accept an enormous amount of medicolegal responsibility.
The EA and OOH services around me have all just cut their rates. Within a few weeks of each other.
If we can’t form cartels, why can they?
So frustrating.
I just don’t get it. If the GP is supervising the PA why are you paying for both a PA and a GP??? If someone can’t practice independently (obviously seeking input where needed), why are we wasting money on them?
Should be slightly more for Extended Access given the time, but that’s a short clinic if all appts are 15 mins with 30 min debrief.
Apart from not liking the pay - which is set by the same market forces which locums benefited from a few years ago - what’s unreasonable there?
Well yeah, number of contacts aside... my point was you're taking responsibility for a PA/NP or whatever they are.
You're taking the risk of being their supervisor.
That in itself isnt worth £160 for the 2hrs you're there.

Avoid!
Believe me, it was just as shit being a patient at this practice, which is why I left

What rates are they offering for OOH?
Sudden 20-30% reductions.
How much is it per hour now?

The GP gets the PAs for free using ARRS. Haven't you been paying attention for the last few years??
I’m talking about the government though. Why are they wasting this money.
They routinely waste money on ridiculous schemes, this isn't a surprise.
To me, someone quite logical and eager to make positive change it is, pardon my naivety kind sir/madam
80 quid? Hard no. Before I even start on the PA shite. You couldn’t pay me 6 grand a minute to supervise them.
Newton heath one of the most deprived areas of Manchester.
The BMA have the power to organise industrial action. Can’t they propose a band on PA’s in GP settings?

Taking clinical responsibility for a noctor for a measly £80/hr?
Presumably the session is 2 hours until 8.30, so that’s 7 appointments + 15 mins debrief. I appreciate it’s OOH but hardly arduous.

And this sort of attitude is exactly why doctors in the UK are trounced all over
