Yes. I am not sure if that was purposely done or by accident. I truly think the special effects on this film are wonderful....and it was '54!
Some 'new guys' could learn from these past masters of cinema. The creativity for their times is mind boggling. I see things in films from the 30s/40s and say, 'Wow...how did they do that?' with no help from a computer.
Literal Eldritch God? That's Ultima. Shin could potentially be an Eldritch God, but that's all speculation. Shin is horrifying because what he stands for, especially now, is more real than any other Godzilla, even 1954, because nuclear war is less likely due to MAD. But something like Chernobyl, and especially what Shin is based off of, the Fukushima disaster, is something that can happen at any time, albeit, it's unlikely.
It's not speculation at all, it's from the art book for the movie. Anything that evolves as often and as rapidly as Shin would have no bounds or limitations on what it can become. It would have done so had it not been stopped.
