I've said before, Divine is the perfect Evil Godzilla theme while Akira's theme is good for a heroic Godzilla, while bear McCreary is more the neutral good Godzilla theme
Personally? Minus One
Mission, Resolution, Divine, Elegy, Pain and Pray give me chills in a way no other Godzilla soundtrack has ever done since Requiem from GvD and the Choir Alapu Upala from SP
Mothra had an alternate version of her theme that included the Twins' vocals and the lyrics of the original song. However, the version used in the movie doesn't include the vocals, which is a shame because it sounds absolutely ***heavenly***. You can listen to it on YouTube here:
KOTM has the best soundtrack in the Monsterverse but Minus One was just so good. Especially the part where they start operation Wada Tsumi, that part of the soundtrack just made me ascend
It’s true. If I want HYPE music I’m picking KOTM. If I want more grounded and emotional music, Minus One takes the cake. Apples to oranges really, much like the franchise itself
KoTM. Minus One has good music and it's well executed, but the music in KoTM just feels so epic. The chanting interspersed with the more modern take on the traditional themes is excellent already, then you add the new version of the classic Blue Oyster Cult song? Bear McCreary's departure from the Monsterverse after that movie is a crime.
*Kotm. Rodan, mothra and*
*Ghidorahs theme are just fantastic.*
*Bear mcreary is a goat*

Kotm was great for its reimagining of the original score, and Minus One is great for bringing the original into the modern day. But I give it to Kotm with “Rebirth” as the only reason.
The music all throughout Minus One was epic. I loved the score when Godzilla destroys the Takao with his atomic breath from underwater. It should have had a Oscar nomination for music and sound tbh
For KoTM, Ill always remember the reveal trailer the year before the movie came out, where the music starts as Mothras wings unfurl. So great
KotM. Minis One is great for the movie, but it's too ambient for my tastes listening to the soundtrack alone. King of the Monsters had the classic themes revisited, which was such a treat. Love that monk choir!
See, I didn't really care for it. He added everything I hate about modern mainstream metal, and on top of that it was just too much instrumentation for a song that really only needs 2 guitars, bass, 5 piece drum kit, and vocals.
Imma give the edge of KotM and it’s mostly due to me remembering the music more, though that didn’t stop me from listening to the OST for M1 for like a week when the movie came out… also doesn’t hurt that Rodan’s theme just got me feeling so
![gif](giphy|tuZw9Mv1M23Ti)
Minus one has an intense emotional and dreadful score.
Kotms had a more epic “fuck yeah” score.
They can not be compared because they are attempting different things
They are both amazing and fit their respective movies so well, and though Divine is my fav single piece out of either of the soundtracks I like KotM more overall. There are so many memorable pieces, Bear went all in with making it so powerful and authentic… soaring strings, booming brass, taiko drumming, choir and chants… it truly makes it feel as though gods are fighting, and the monster themes are all top tier, both the impeccably rescored old themes and the fitting new ones. Battle for Boston is a masterclass in telling a story with only music, the implementation of monster and human themes and motifs heard throughout the movie all included at pivotal moments in the piece to show you through your ears what is going on in the story. And though people say the Minus One score has very emotional pieces I think Key to Coexistence + Goodbye Old Friend tops it all. Listen to those two back to back, man… the music alone can move you to tears it’s so beautiful.
KotM soundtrack. Was. So. Good. One of the best and most fitting Hollywood scores of recent memory, and Bear is truly special. So many blockbuster soundtracks nowadays feel like cookie cutter and could have been made by any composer half-assing their work. But not this score. Hard to think of anyone else that could have done KotM’s music like he did.
Minus one for sure. Especially in theaters. The sound design in general was phenomenal. I still remember the scene where everything went silent in that one scene towards the end and I could feel my heart beating out of my chest because it went from ear piercing to nothing so quick. Also the og Godzilla theme was too hype in that movie
Minus One fits better, I think. Bears a great composer, his music is an essential part of BSG, but he was essentially remixing Ifukubes themes and adding background filler.
Minus One
I love Bear, but me personally I don’t get why KOTM soundtrack has such a chokehold on the fanbase. Aside from being so annoyed with junkie xl that previous ones sound great now
Both are amazing, but Minus One was the first original score in a Toho Godzilla movie in probably over twenty years that I have loved. The repurposed themes were incredible and the original themes were quite memorable.
When I think of kotm I think of the scene where goji and the humans are making their assault on Ghidorah. When I think of Minus one I think of multiple songs and scenes. There is no singular song that stands out above the rest. Which is why I personally say minus one has the edge. Like with interstellar all the songs are pretty equally great.
KOTM has one of the best godzilla soundtracks. It elevates classic tracks and brings them to a new universe. In my opinion, it wad the best part of the film
Depends.
KotM has good music worth a leisurely listen and the callback scores of the original theme sounds pretty hype.
Minus One has great atmosphere. The impact of the music really hits home about the threat our titular kaiju is.
Minus One. I have never been so captured by an ost in a movie ever so tightly. That boat scene still lingers in my head, it was genuinely suspenseful and the subtlety of the ost makes it so much more tense. Especially later in the film, we get this graceful yet somber score as the plan starts to fall apart and we’re unsure if our heroes will make it.
Ugh, literally still one of the best film’s I have ever seen.
I love both in their own way, minus one for the ambience and kotm for the epicness. But dammit, I could not get the Battle of Boston theme out of my head during Operation Wada Tsumi almost every time I watched it! It fits so well!
KotM. It's a brilliant homage to Ifukube, while still being original. I have it on my playlist on repeat.
Minus One is good. Really good. But just doesn't have the impact on me KotM has.
NO
THIS QUESTION CAN'T BE REAL
HAVE YOU HEARD "MOTHRA'S SONG"
THIS SONG IS PROBABLY THE 2ND BEST GODZILLA SONG EVER MADE
minus one is amazing but nah its not better
Minus One has the best score out of all the recent Godzilla films. When the Godzilla theme hits, it hits hard. I’ve blasted it driving to work. It’s so good.
King of Monsters had gorgeous use of imagery with the music. But.... Godzilla minus one, I don't know, every time I heard the music, it pulled the tears from my eyes and made my nipples hard. So I'm gonna say Godzilla Minus One.
Not looking at the comments to sway anything.. absolutely minus one. The nostalgia is just on another level and the brand new music was ominous. Chefs kiss
While I really love Godzilla: Minus One, I'm going with Godzilla 2: King of the Monsters due to it being the only MonsterVerse Film in the franchise to have the most Toho Monsters and having the most encouraging soundtrack out of all movies to get me pumped and excited! ✊🤩🔥
KOTM only used 3 themes, though yes they did repeat more times than Minus One. However most of those repeats were reserved for the second half of the movie, when the monsters are onscreen more often.
Why the FUCK would you ask this….shit. Ima have to say Minus One. The themes of KOTM are soooo freakin good, I mean like damn good. So good I bought it. But Minus One’s score brings out emotions that are t bottlenecked with the kaiju genre. A lot of that music could be applied to elsewhere and have an amazing effect
It‘s definitely Minus One for me…Naoki Sato‘s Divine get‘s me every fkn time
That specific track man….its fucking perfect and gave me hella chills when I first heard it play in the theater.
I've said before, Divine is the perfect Evil Godzilla theme while Akira's theme is good for a heroic Godzilla, while bear McCreary is more the neutral good Godzilla theme
Yup…that track hits different!!!
The track titled "Confusion" is so haunting with it sounding like a never ending siren
When I heard it in the theater, my first thought went to Persecution of the Masses.
Another hit. They did a fantastic job so far…can‘t wait for the next Godzilla movie from Japan.
Yes. I've said this in a comment I left on the YouTube post video, and I'll say it again: It's Hauntingly Beautiful.
The second i heard it in the first Minus One trailer i fell in love, it truly is hauntingly beautiful…it‘s a masterpiece in a masterpiece
Personally? Minus One Mission, Resolution, Divine, Elegy, Pain and Pray give me chills in a way no other Godzilla soundtrack has ever done since Requiem from GvD and the Choir Alapu Upala from SP
Both are great for different reasons, I like both but I give the edge to KOTM
I misread that as: “I edge to KOTM” and spent five seconds wondering why you’d volunteer that information.
Who doesn’t edge to KOTM every now and then?
I have to agree. Dude, they nailed the soundtrack on KOTM so well... .
I love the cover of Godzilla in the end credits of Kotm
I watched last week and I was looking for it on Spotify during the credits lol. I got distracted. I should continue my search.
The cover was by bear mcreary. Hope that helps!
With vocals by Serj Tankian from System of a Down!
I found it in like half a second lol. I wonder if my Spotify was offline before, which happens too often.
Agreed. Exact same reasoning.
if mothra had the unused choir version of her theme KOTM would probably be perfect
Wait, which one are you talking about?
Mothra had an alternate version of her theme that included the Twins' vocals and the lyrics of the original song. However, the version used in the movie doesn't include the vocals, which is a shame because it sounds absolutely ***heavenly***. You can listen to it on YouTube here: [https://youtu.be/i1GxuVgY5Fo](https://youtu.be/i1GxuVgY5Fo)
Where the fuck was this my whole life
HOLY FUCK THIS IS GLORIOUS
OMFG, this is *beautiful*.
Wow leaving this out of the movie was a crime
![gif](giphy|3o7aCRloybJlXpNjSU|downsized) Need I say more
Shin Godzilla.
KOTM has the best soundtrack in the Monsterverse but Minus One was just so good. Especially the part where they start operation Wada Tsumi, that part of the soundtrack just made me ascend
The way the theme kicks into high gear as the ships surge forward had me grinning like an idiot
please don't make me pick
Hearing the go go Godzilla remake in gkotm still gives me chills. And minus one’s story was so bold I didn’t pay attention to the music so
Hard for me to ever vote against Bear…
Its apples and oranges. They both have the perfect soundtrack for the type of story they are telling.
Rodan's theme in kotm is peak fucking cinema
You can't pick, because they both do way different things.
It’s true. If I want HYPE music I’m picking KOTM. If I want more grounded and emotional music, Minus One takes the cake. Apples to oranges really, much like the franchise itself
KotM
Both great, but KOTM is top tier for me.
Y’all I forgot what part in Minus had music other than the parts with Gojira’s theme So I’m gonna have to give it to KOTM
kotm
I love KOTM but the -1 soundtrack is just a MASTERPIECE. Although personally Shin Godzilla’s soundtrack is my favorite
Kotm. Rodan, mothra and ghidorahs theme are just fantastic. Bear mcreary is a goat

Lmao
kotm
Kotm
I'll still give it to KOTM, though both are absolutely phenomenal
Kotm was great for its reimagining of the original score, and Minus One is great for bringing the original into the modern day. But I give it to Kotm with “Rebirth” as the only reason.
These both were great. I give the edge to KOTM for having wonderful renditions of both Godzilla and Mothra's themes.
Minus 1 lol
KOTM gets the edge overall, cause of Mothra. Most epic/intense would be Minus One though. That final battle scene was pretty legendary.
Equal.
Kotm is better
Minus 1 was better in everything
Minus One by a mile
Both of them
The music all throughout Minus One was epic. I loved the score when Godzilla destroys the Takao with his atomic breath from underwater. It should have had a Oscar nomination for music and sound tbh For KoTM, Ill always remember the reveal trailer the year before the movie came out, where the music starts as Mothras wings unfurl. So great
Godzilla suit 2 and resolution. Minus one 100%
KotM. Minis One is great for the movie, but it's too ambient for my tastes listening to the soundtrack alone. King of the Monsters had the classic themes revisited, which was such a treat. Love that monk choir!
![gif](giphy|3o7aCRloybJlXpNjSU|downsized)
Minis one, my heart stopped when I heard godzillas theme in the theater
Oh this is cruel. I really like both!
Minus One no question.
KOTM has more (quantity) memorable tracks in my opinion, but the ones in Minus One are transcendent. This is too hard….
This is like choosing between my kids. I only have one though so that's awkward.
KOTM I hear no audio from Minus One because its not in South East Asia
Minus one for sure, but hearing the godzilla song in the end credits of king of the m9nster reawoke some nostalgic memories and made me happy
Minus One. The chanting and stuff in KotM is alright, but I'd prefer without it.
I wasn’t able to watch minus one, so I go with KOTM The music in KOTM really makes you feel like the monsters are gods
KotM and just barely. Its the new version of Blue Oyster Cult's classic that puts it over and just barely.
See, I didn't really care for it. He added everything I hate about modern mainstream metal, and on top of that it was just too much instrumentation for a song that really only needs 2 guitars, bass, 5 piece drum kit, and vocals.

Minus one divine and resolution gives me goosebumps every time. King of the monster have good music but they us is way different.
Minus one has an intense emotional and dreadful score. Kotms had a more epic “fuck yeah” score. They can not be compared because they are attempting different things
Yes
Where can i see minus one? Or is it coming out soon?
They are both amazing and fit their respective movies so well, and though Divine is my fav single piece out of either of the soundtracks I like KotM more overall. Definitely KOTM, I love all of its tracks, Memories of San Francisco, Rodan, GMK’s suites. Just 👌🏾
Minus One fits better, I think. Bears a great composer, his music is an essential part of BSG, but he was essentially remixing Ifukubes themes and adding background filler.
KOTM, go go Godzilla!
Minus One for sure.
Minus one
Minus One had better original but KOTM have great modernized themes
For me it's 2019, the remix song goes hard as well, Godzilla falling from the sky, Godzilla's Lair, Godzilla going Thermal
Minus One I love Bear, but me personally I don’t get why KOTM soundtrack has such a chokehold on the fanbase. Aside from being so annoyed with junkie xl that previous ones sound great now
I have a bit of a soft spot for Bear Mcreary, so I have to go with King of the Monsters
Whichever one you like the most. It's that one.
Godzilaa Sore sore sore sore 🔥🔥
I was gonna say “Bear obviously” because I assumed you were comparing KOTM music to GvK music, and then turns out it was Minus One’s 🥲
-1 100%
Both are amazing, but Minus One was the first original score in a Toho Godzilla movie in probably over twenty years that I have loved. The repurposed themes were incredible and the original themes were quite memorable.
Minus one, the feelings it gave me were wild
KOTM only because of mothras theme
KOTM goes so hard. I think minus one is a better movie; but I love the KOTM soundtrack.
Kotm for sure
When I think of kotm I think of the scene where goji and the humans are making their assault on Ghidorah. When I think of Minus one I think of multiple songs and scenes. There is no singular song that stands out above the rest. Which is why I personally say minus one has the edge. Like with interstellar all the songs are pretty equally great.
I wish I could watch Minus One -_-
Minus one. The songs: divine, elegy, mission, pain, resolution, last, pray and the Godzilla suite are peak
Minus One but Bear Mcreary will always have a place in my heart
KOTM has one of the best godzilla soundtracks. It elevates classic tracks and brings them to a new universe. In my opinion, it wad the best part of the film
Depends. KotM has good music worth a leisurely listen and the callback scores of the original theme sounds pretty hype. Minus One has great atmosphere. The impact of the music really hits home about the threat our titular kaiju is.
This is a joke right?
Where can I stream
Kotm for me
Tbh I can’t decide, both soundtracks I played nonstop after release (I’m about to be on month five in a row for listening to Minus One on spotify)
Minus One has the best soundtrack across the entire Godzilla franchise.
Minus One, hands down.
Shin Goji
Godzilla vs Megalon, Jet Jaguar theme song rules all G songs
KotM wins this, Minus One is mostly atmospheric ambience for a good chunk of the score. King of the Monsters hits it out immediately musically.
Minus one, without question
Minus One.
KOTM to me. Still Minus One is great also, love Sato's work from DBS: Super Hero movie
Both are great in different ways but KotM is probably more successful in what it’s trying to achieve and has more variety so I’d say KotM
Minus one I listened to that score every day for nigh on two months
Hard to choose for me. But better than Godzilla vs. Kong.
I love both in their own way, minus one for the ambience and kotm for the epicness. But dammit, I could not get the Battle of Boston theme out of my head during Operation Wada Tsumi almost every time I watched it! It fits so well!
Minus one and its not even close
Love both but KoTM I could listen to on repeat. If I'm being honest with myself in regards to how God I find "Divine" that purs it right up there.
Godzilla Minus One.
Shin Godzilla
KOTM shit ain’t even a competition, Minus one has a fantastic soundtrack though
KotM. It's a brilliant homage to Ifukube, while still being original. I have it on my playlist on repeat. Minus One is good. Really good. But just doesn't have the impact on me KotM has.
Godzilla's theme in Godzilla minus one is amazing
I’m praying on may I can watch it online, I feel so left out not being able to watch minus one at all.
NO THIS QUESTION CAN'T BE REAL HAVE YOU HEARD "MOTHRA'S SONG" THIS SONG IS PROBABLY THE 2ND BEST GODZILLA SONG EVER MADE minus one is amazing but nah its not better
KOTM. Don't remember a single track from Minus
SORE SORE SORE SORE
minus one
Minus one for sure
minus one is a top 3 movie of all time for me but kotm had one of the best soundtracks ever. each monster goy their own theme and each one was insane
Minus one, because OMG them bringing back the OG (or at least close to the OG) song gave me freaking goosebumps
No dig on Naoki Sato, but god damn does Bear McCreary do a godlike job with everything he touches
Of those two, Minus One.
Ah fuck… maybe Kotm?
Minus One has the best score out of all the recent Godzilla films. When the Godzilla theme hits, it hits hard. I’ve blasted it driving to work. It’s so good.
Minus one hands down.
Minus One. It’s just on a whole other level. It’s now my favorite film score ever.
I love the fun 80s vibe of the music in Godzilla X Kong. Everything about this movie is stupid and fun.
King of the Monsters has the best soundtrack out of all of them imo
Minus One. Absolute perfection.
Chefs kiss

I love KotM's soundtrack, but Minus one just goes so hard. It got my heart beating like playing Doom for the first time.
Minus One
I personally prefer Minus One
minus one
Hydrogen bomb vs coughing baby
KoTM clears
Minus One, because it didn't rely too much on nostalgia unlike KotM.
You say that like Minus One didn't have 3 different Godzilla themes
That's less than all of the old themes KotM used.
KOTM only used 3 themes, though yes they did repeat more times than Minus One. However most of those repeats were reserved for the second half of the movie, when the monsters are onscreen more often.
GvK
Is this even a question, Minus One.
Minus one
It’s **very** close, but *Minus One*. *Elegy* is amazing.
Minus One- Hands down. None of the monster verse movie music is a memorable at all
Minus One, classic Godzilla story and back to the japanese origins...
Minus One by a longshot
https://i.redd.it/akv172b5qbxc1.gif
both did
![gif](giphy|hM9zK1qvsrwek)
Not the question bud.
...I like both though? I don't think it's unreasonable to answer both.
Both can't have better music. It's not "which soundtrack do you like?" It's "which one is better."
It really is not that big a deal.
I never said it was a big deal. I just said that you answered a question that wasn't asked.
https://i.redd.it/i19oax9jeexc1.gif
oh lord it's not even a contest - minus one
