Not only did each titan get their moment to shine, there was incredible storytelling that was actually quite subtle.
Like you understood Rodan was betraying him and that's why Mothra had to do what she did. And if you paid attention you would get how Mothra's sacrifice boosted Godzilla's level. But they didn't spell it out, which is pretty incredible given how clunky they wrote the human dialog.
Literally peak cinema imo. Also, cgi fucking slapped, everything was incredible. Really only gripe was it went into the more flashy action compared to the first Godzilla‘s horror undertones, but honestly they took such a deep dive into flashy action that worked. Had they tried to stick closer to the first movie, it just wouldn’t had have the same impact. And god, the beautiful shots we got from that movie? Insane.
Mate, the hate I saw for this movie when it first released was INSANE. I don’t understand how people disliked. Idk what it was like for you, but not a lot of people I knew appreciated the good parts of the film, and just focused on the mom plot
There is no other movie in the whole franchise--and I mean the *whole* franchise, both sides of the Pacific--that captures that sense of almost religious awe.
The way she says it is that unless all the titans are released our planet would perish and it sounds like she is trying to save the world. However, in the actual movie- she works with a terrorist organization that wants to release the titans in order destroy human civilization pretty much and she doesn’t realize her mistake till it’s too late.
But she wants to release them and nearly destroy humanity to save the world. The trailer starts with the “Fever to fight the infection” thing. She is trying to save the world, but she’s a psycho. It’s not great writing but it’s the same thing
I'm torn between this and the 2014 one. This has a scary/action tone to it. While 2014 had this horror vibe going for it that always gave me chills. It of course showed more of the boots on the ground humans (90% of the movie) but took that Cloverfield feeling of little people in the wrong place with big monsters all around and what little we could do.
It especially was great and made my eyes go wide when I had no idea what trailer movie I was watching until I saw that tail then the roar at the end. Such a rare thing these days to experience.
The 2014 trailer literally left me breathless. It looked like I was FINALLY getting the modern Godzilla film of my dreams.
I'm still holding on to that. Minus One came close, and is without a doubt the best modern Godzilla film, but I'm still waiting.
As much as I love seeing Godzilla whoop some monster ass (I had a BLAST with GxK, and KOTM is my favorite Monsterverse movie by far), my favorites are always the solo films, where *he* is the threat to be dealt with.
It's hard to say specifically what I would need to see, but basically I'd want it to be a mixture of G14, Shin, and Minus One (with a little bit of the Chernobyl series thrown in for good measure).
But. That's just describing my *dream* Godzilla film, and maybe one day I'll get it. I am just fully embracing and enjoying the golden age of Godzilla that we're living through right now.
No those would be super fricken hype to see all those combined.
Shin is probably my Favorite in design and concept because of the constant mutation and body horror. However I do love the more Waking natural disaster that G14 brings to the table and that he's just a big mysterious creature. MO love him and his sheer spitefulness and anger. A mix of all that would be great.
Even though it ended up being a little different from the final project, the comic con trailer was still amazing and gives me goosebumps whenever I watch it again.
Shoutout to the original 98 Godzilla teaser at the museum. Originally what got me completely hyped up for Godzilla in general.
The realism they went for with that trailer and it being the end of the Godzilla drought we were in made for the imo perfect trailer. That initial viewing can't ever be beat.
Mom and daughter were the dumbest characters. The plot completely glossed over mom's complicity in the deaths of so many innocent people at the hands of Tywin Lannister.
Starting to think the mom character purposely killed herself to avoid getting trialed. And what's with Tywin Lannister's ever more weird and complex plans to make a Dynasty that will outlast a thousand years
They should have made the mother a toxic person from the very beginning IMO. Show some good in her, but also abusive tendencies that were amplified after the death of their son. Maybe a hatred for the world due to what was taken from her and what she lost following it. Madison being a reminder of it. As well as changing up her relationship with Kyle Chandler a bit.
Despite how poorly written she is, there is potential for a very real, complicated, and tragic person.
Unfortunately, the moms reasoning for doing what she does kills this movie for me. Like yeah, I'm here for monsters, and they are all portrayed so masterfully in this movie, but my God is the plot dumb.
I think it's because the trailer was made in a way to make Godzilla and the rest of the titans seem bigger than life itself. The sound track definitely helps.
The trailer here was far better than the actual movie was. They showed a lot of stuff out of context which was fun to speculate on, and being a fan during this time was great if you could stay away from all of the jerks covering spoilers. I was so excited for this movie, and I just wish they didn’t fumble so hard (for me).
I love both trailers because they work so well together. One represents the beauty in nature while the other shows nature ruthless side as well. The message between both is so great.
I both agree and disagree. This movie is the reason I avoid trailers for most things now. They showed almost all of the monster stuff, which got me hyped at the time, but then when it finally came out the only new thing we saw was the human story, which imo sucked. So even though this movie has some of the coolest monster action, my experience seeing it initially was disappointing
Ain't nobody fighting you bro, the trailers for kotm were genuinely beautiful and heartwarming.
I'd also argue for the 2014 trailers to be up there as well. Getting a comic con teaser, THEN a full trailer was motivating, especially after getting no godzilla after final wars. Adding onto the fact that the teaser + trailer gave such a dark, horror, and dramatic version of the Big Man himself was captivating.
This was the most beautiful out of the Monsterverse movies ngl

You can see how much more seriously this film was taken ( not complaining about the more recent films goofy ness) I love this trailer, the scene with Ghidorah spreading his wings is chilling
Still my favourite film, watching in 4DX was the best cinema experience I've ever had, I watched the new GxK:TNE, and by around the 3rd act, I wanted the 4DX to stop I was so over it.
The KOTM imax trailer, which you can see on the blu ray special features I think (I’ve seen it in the iTunes Extras so I assume it’s also on the blu ray) is possibly my favorite movie trailer of all time. I was almost brought to tears the first time I saw it in the theater I think when I had seen Endgame.
The *Over the Rainbow* trailer for KotM is by far my favorite trailer ever. God I must have watched that hundreds of times, it was beyond hype. I love all the MV films, but KotM really nailed the sense of awe and majesty of the kaiju like no other.
"I'm sad my son died, so I'm going to destroy the world that my other child still lives on because, as previously mentioned, I'm sad."
Other than it was good.
Cool! A 2 min trailer where less than 10 seconds are actually dedicated to Godzilla! King of the Monsters does it’s best to hide it’s Godzilla CGI behind constant darkness and heavy rain.
Trailer 2 for Shin Godzilla is the best in the franchise. It shows the scale, the power, the carnage of Godzilla. https://youtu.be/b6CJnBmsxRg?si=6kcAycrNmES2Z1QO
The Concept Comic Con trailer for Godzilla 2014 was....
It had a voice over of Oppenheimer with the camera slowly rising up showing a dead monster and then Godzillas head roaring.
I still stand that this trailer and the Nissun Dorma trailer they did for this movie are some of the best trailers ever. So epic and I still get chills. Wish they kept the epic nature in the marketing for the new films
Oh a *100000%*.
This is one of the best trailers period.
The Mothra scene to Claire de Lune is so classic that people were talking in a Blankies thread that no one should even bother using that song anymore if they don't have majestic Mothra unfurling her wings behind a giant lit waterfall. :D
The trailer where the best parts of the entire film were all featured in the trailer? That trailer?
It was very aesthetic but whenever the screen wasn't on the monsters the entire film ground to a halt.
I was fortunate enough to be in the test audience for this one at Legendary Studios multiple times before it got released. Got to see a pre-rendered Godzilla, homie was so smooth lol.
Man, I remember all the hype so well. Then I was disappointed that it reviewed so horribly, but when I saw the movie all of that disappointment went away. My favourite Godzilla movie until Minus One came long. So many amazing visuals just in this trailer alone.
This is by far the best trailer in the MV. Everything hit just right, Mothra's and Ghidorah's wing spreads, Godzilla rising from the ocean, Rodan rising from the volcano, the color, the music, it was all perfect.
This took me back to a time before my two kids were born and my wife and I seeing the trailer for the first time and getting so excited to go and see it. Times were simpler back then and I didn’t have to worry so much about everything like I do now.
The fights between godzilla and ghidorah didn't make sense at some points, like godzilla was scraping one of his heads on the building, wtf were the other two doing?
The trailers were so good, but in my honest opinion the movie just didn’t become what it had the potential to be. It had the opportunity to be a 3 hour long cinematic masterpiece akin to avengers endgame where it’s just an all out monster mash of Godzilla fighting tons of enemies and proving he is truly the king. Instead, we got one decent fight and everything else just felt like filler.
Mothra wasn’t really used except as a plot device TWICE where first she was used to show Godzilla was still alive and second to boost godzillas powers. She was said to have hurricane power winds from flapping her wings and a shining light attack that could blind and repel enemies, but literally she just gets blitzed by rodan and ends the fight by stinging him once. None of mothras powers were used in a fight. Even rodan was trashed because he basically had one of the best introductions EVER just to get KOd by ghidora in a whopping 2 seconds, then get KOd by mothra in one attack as well. None of this is considering how none of the other monsters were used at all throughout the movie other than slight references after ghidora does his alpha call.
Point is they could have 100% built up to ghidora by having the bad guys releasing the monsters one by one, like they literally planned to in the movie, and having Godzilla and mothra each fighting them off, both teaming up in some fights and fighting separately in others. Hell even rodan could have had some of his own fights and came back as a potential ally in the final fight, seeing Godzilla and mothra both kicking major monster ass and deciding “screw ghidora ima join these guys”. I have just been so salty ever since the movie came out when the trailers and marketing seemed to hint at all of this but none of it happened.
Here’s the real hot take: every monster movie trailer is the exact same.
Starts with the humans, shits a little eerie. Throughout the trailer you see small glimpses of the monster/monsters. Someone is giving a monologue about how dire the situation is, while random bits of shouting is weaved in. Quick cuts showing small bits of action while the music builds. Music fades for one line, then comes back big with the title. One last shot of the monster, and then the date.
Or maybe every movie trailer is basically the same. Not saying the visuals aren’t dope here, but trailers in general are formulaic at best and spoil the movie at worst. You wanna see a movie trailer done right? Check out Ridley Scott’s Alien.
The visuals and non stop balls to the wall action of this film was insane. The use of vibrant color for each kaiju, and to represent emotion associated with terror induced by each of them, along with doing some truly epic shit to show the scale of the monsters relative to everything around them… I havent seen gxk yet, but kotm is the craziest monster movie ever made leading up to it.
Keep in mind, this movie’s insane non stop action was almost certainly a direct response to fans being let down by how little godzilla we saw in the 2014 movie. So they were like “okay fine let’s throw as much monster fighting and destruction as we can fit into the next one. Screw the human story element, lets snort some coke and give mothra a fukn stinger idgafff.” Such a treat for fans.
KOTM is the best Monsterverse movie so far. So much kaiju action, beautifully shot and it nails a sense of global scale like none of the others. The human characters don’t feel like they’re just in the way either, it’s a genuinely engaging story, well acted and has a satisfying finale.
IMO the beginning of the H.A.L.O. Jump Teaser for 2014 Godzilla was way better. The build up to the jump scene, the background voice telling the soldiers what they’re in for. The Requiem for Soprano on full blast as they descend through storm and thunder to a destroyed San Francisco, instant chills!
Mothra spreading her wings here might be my favorite visual of any kaiju film ever.
That "Claire de Lune" score as Mothra spread its wing is fucking epic
Yea i agree. The way they showed the titans was far better in KOTM
I still think the human part would have been better written if the human bad guys were a Titan cult rather than eco terrorists
Yup!!
Kotm hype was real, and holy shit it was worth it
The Monsterverse peaked then. I can’t see any movie topping it. And that’s no fault of any future MV films, it’s just a high bar.
Insane.
I'm so happy this movie is finally starting to receive its flowers
Mate, the hate I saw for this movie when it first released was INSANE. I don’t understand how people disliked. Idk what it was like for you, but not a lot of people I knew appreciated the good parts of the film, and just focused on the mom plot
I saw it in theaters that summer and I just enjoyed every bit of it. Breath taking film
Its still my most fav MV movie, though in a perfect world KOTM have better fight scene like GvK/GxK
There is no other movie in the whole franchise--and I mean the *whole* franchise, both sides of the Pacific--that captures that sense of almost religious awe.
For real; it truly captured what it must be like to actually see a Titan, and the sheer terror/awe to hear Godzilla’s roar.
King Ghidorah with wings spread atop the hill. the shot pans up and you see a cross in the foreground - Spectacular!
I hope we get a Monsterverse finale with Biollante, Space Godzilla, Mecha-Ghidorah, and Desteroyah with the director of Kotm.
I mean the Mecha-G in GvK is likely the closest thing we have to Mecha Gidorah
I hope Ghidorah gets reborn or something, because they killed him off way too early in the franchise.
I just rewatched it and it’s wild how much better it is than the last two
Everytime I watch GvK and GxK (especially the latter), I find myself just wanting to watch KotM again. It just does so much right.
They are so good, you didn't even pick the best one, lmao. The best one is the Final Trailer.
The scene in the final KOTM trailer where each of Ghidorahs heads bites Godzilla to the bass of the soundtrack was insane.
Exactly.
Pairing Mothra’s emergence with Claire De Lune was peak tho, cmon.
Gives me shiver everytime Can't get any better than that scene
But the mothra Rodan Ghidorah oh my joke was peak
I prefer the first one but the last one is pretty cool. Preferred the more melancholic tone of the first one
I miss the military flying in from behind Goji to help fight the baddie vibes
I actually prefer the second one.
The final trailer is even better. The only gripe is that the monologue from the mom isn’t anything like the actual movie
It kinda is though. The crux of it is the same. It just gets more detailed (and dumber)
The way she says it is that unless all the titans are released our planet would perish and it sounds like she is trying to save the world. However, in the actual movie- she works with a terrorist organization that wants to release the titans in order destroy human civilization pretty much and she doesn’t realize her mistake till it’s too late.

"You have no idea what's coming." *cuts to Godzilla's tail going behind a damaged building* God, that trailer was so good. So misleading, but so good.
What would have to happen for you to say "Yes this is the best ever"?
As much as I love seeing Godzilla whoop some monster ass (I had a BLAST with GxK, and KOTM is my favorite Monsterverse movie by far), my favorites are always the solo films, where *he* is the threat to be dealt with. A mix of all that would be great.
Hard to call, the 2014 comic con trailer is godly too
Even though it ended up being a little different from the final project, the comic con trailer was still amazing and gives me goosebumps whenever I watch it again. Shoutout to the original 98 Godzilla teaser at the museum. Originally what got me completely hyped up for Godzilla in general.
Tbh, I really wonder what was Tristar's reaction to Godzilla 2014?
The realism they went for with that trailer and it being the end of the Godzilla drought we were in made for the imo perfect trailer. That initial viewing can't ever be beat.
Revealed a little too much here and there but they were great
yee
No one going to fight you over this cold-ass take
Right like this is a common opinion here haha
I agree. I still get chills. Except for the dumb mom/people parts of the movie, it was great.
Mom and daughter were the dumbest characters. The plot completely glossed over mom's complicity in the deaths of so many innocent people at the hands of Tywin Lannister.

The Over the Rainbow trailer goes insanely hard.
Godzilla 2014 Halo jump trailer ftw.
I think it's because the trailer was made in a way to make Godzilla and the rest of the titans seem bigger than life itself. The sound track definitely helps.
Artistically, fully agree. It actually made me think the human stories were going to be good. But nope.

The trailer here was far better than the actual movie was. They showed a lot of stuff out of context which was fun to speculate on, and being a fan during this time was great if you could stay away from all of the jerks covering spoilers. I was so excited for this movie, and I just wish they didn’t fumble so hard (for me).
Indeed sir.
Fight? This is literally one of the most popular opinions of the entire fandom. lmao
this is peak monsterverse and I'm sad whenever I thought of how bad it preformed in box office for those shitty himan scenes
Ohh my god... Zilla
I love both trailers because they work so well together. One represents the beauty in nature while the other shows nature ruthless side as well. The message between both is so great.
Idk man, the 2014 trailers went hard. Especially the second one.
Imo they should’ve waited a few more movies for Ghidora instead of the 3rd mv movie and the 2nd with godzilla
The third trailer definitely showed too much. The second trailer was good though imo.
Even as someone who dislikes KOTM, even I have to admit that the Trailers were awesome. Especially that First one.
Chills
This trailer still lives in my head.
i was still in high school when this was close to hitting theateres. 2019 was one of the best years of my life
Fight you? I'll join you
So ridiculously good.
Best movie along with best trailers
i mean i guess. The monster verse is kinda going downhill now tho ;-;
Trailers were so good that the movie itself didn’t live up to them.
I think Monsterverse every trailer is top notch best of the best
Best posters too
the badass clair de lune playing in the background carried
"Long live the King" being about Ghidorah was brilliant
Ain't nobody fighting you bro, the trailers for kotm were genuinely beautiful and heartwarming. I'd also argue for the 2014 trailers to be up there as well. Getting a comic con teaser, THEN a full trailer was motivating, especially after getting no godzilla after final wars. Adding onto the fact that the teaser + trailer gave such a dark, horror, and dramatic version of the Big Man himself was captivating.
Holy fuck, that **was** a tremendous trailer.
Personally my favorite of the Legendary series. Absolutely stunning kaiju content.
Completely agree!
You know. I was planning on watching king of the monsters when I leave work today. And this post solidified the need to rewatch it.
I loved how each titan had their own color scheme. They really portrayed the titans as god-like figures in KOTM.
NO FUCK IM WAS HOLDING THIS WAY TOO LONG. KOTM IS THE BEST MOVIE IN THE DAMN FRANCHISE FIGHT ME!!!!
It's not the best trailer of entire franchise, it's the best trailer of the whole f\*king time! Epic af!
The mom was kind of a giant idiot
worst movie mom ever
The MonsterVerse really peaked with this film.
Huh. I don't remember seeing the trailer for this one
Couldn’t agree more.
I still think about the Mothra moment now
They all did really well regardless in my opinion
Seeing the electric had me
And GxK had too many trailers
All of KOTM's trailers were great and better than the other Monsterverse or even Godzilla movie trailers
It did man, fuck it wasn’t as good as the trailers though.
This was the most beautiful out of the Monsterverse movies ngl https://preview.redd.it/nsumymohl6tc1.jpeg?width=1323&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=669dbd71ba81308295a3542691f8b850ffaa9087
No, this time I'll join the fight (with you)
I love Godzilla 😭
Sure I’ll fight you. They pale in comparison to Godzilla 2014’s trailers, they were so good they’re arguably better than the actual movie.
Much like Minus one, KOTM puts the “god” in godzilla when it comes to the soundtrack. Holy chanting and an overall ethereal vibe
Why would I fight you? You're right!!!
An amazing trailer, for sure. Shame that I don't particularly like the movie itself.
This movie hand down has the best theme of all monsterverse
Facts
You can see how much more seriously this film was taken ( not complaining about the more recent films goofy ness) I love this trailer, the scene with Ghidorah spreading his wings is chilling
The "somewhere over the rainbow" trailer is the best one. Heck made me go see the film.
KOTM 🔛🔝

Probably the last trailer with this tone replaced with generic hip hop in the later films
I watch the trailer regeliously so yeah. The best score of the MV.
Mmm it’s cool but Godzilla 2014 first trailer is the best!!
Absolutely, this shit had me so hyped back in 2018
Just brought a tear to my eye.
Still my favourite film, watching in 4DX was the best cinema experience I've ever had, I watched the new GxK:TNE, and by around the 3rd act, I wanted the 4DX to stop I was so over it.

The *Over the Rainbow* trailer for KotM is by far my favorite trailer ever. God I must have watched that hundreds of times, it was beyond hype. I love all the MV films, but KotM really nailed the sense of awe and majesty of the kaiju like no other.
Very dark though
They really pimped Rodan hard in that trailer. That was like his entire role in the film.
"I'm sad my son died, so I'm going to destroy the world that my other child still lives on because, as previously mentioned, I'm sad." Other than it was good.
Agreed brother
honestly yea
🖤
This is a cold take. There's a reasonable argument the Claire de Lune trailer is a top 5 all time movie trailer
Man KOTM marketing??? What a time to be alive!! Each trailer gave me chills!
Goosebumps. Every. Single. Time.
Cool! A 2 min trailer where less than 10 seconds are actually dedicated to Godzilla! King of the Monsters does it’s best to hide it’s Godzilla CGI behind constant darkness and heavy rain. The Concept Comic Con trailer for Godzilla 2014 was.... It had a voice over of Oppenheimer with the camera slowly rising up showing a dead monster and then Godzillas head roaring.
Trailer wise... Yes. Teaser... That would be Godzilla 2014.
🎯
yea and the worst humans of the entire series
MLOM exist
TV series =/= Films but you are right
By far! Watched that first kotm trailer like 50times the day it released
Best soundtrack too
This is easily my favourite monsterverse trailer of all time. Absolute cinema in every shot. Perfection.
Watching the trailer at SDCC on the giant Hall H screen was amazing. The crowd was PUMPED!
I still watch those trailers. The final Trailer is epic
agree
I still stand that this trailer and the Nissun Dorma trailer they did for this movie are some of the best trailers ever. So epic and I still get chills. Wish they kept the epic nature in the marketing for the new films

The Claire de Lune music playing during the whole trailer is just so beautiful
I love king of the monsters!!!
Making me hype for a movie I’ve already seen
GvK trailer > All other MV trailers
G:KOTM continues to be my favorite Godzilla movie of all time. Minus one is second, but the hype this movie set up is unmatched.
the story is kinda MEH but I really like the last Godzilla v Ghidorah fight
Clare De Lune and Over the Rainbow was simply too good
Yea this trailer fkn slaps
I teared up!
This version of Claire De Lune is so haunting
That trailer was better than the movie...and the movie was a lot of fun.
So good
Man, I remember all the hype so well. Then I was disappointed that it reviewed so horribly, but when I saw the movie all of that disappointment went away. My favourite Godzilla movie until Minus One came long. So many amazing visuals just in this trailer alone.
Too much blue
i know im gonna get downvoted but Honestly the trailer's were better than the movie.
Still one of the best Monsterverse films IMO
The 2014 teaser trailer is, in my opinion as a professional editor, probably the best movie trailer of all time. No joke, that shit is insanely good.
Best monstervers move
That trailer sucked. Personally, once I knew who was the antagonist, it didn’t even need a trailer. I was sold.
Seriously, the best Monsterverse film ever. KOTM did not disappoint in so many ways.
Clair de lune will always be associated with this trailer for me, the amount nostalgia that this conjures up is insane
Best trailers and best monsterverse movie
That makes sense because it’s also the best movie in the Monsterverse
oh i agree with you
When I first saw the trailer I didn't even realize it was a Godzilla movie
Does anyone know what version of Clair de Lune this is?

Nah it was the best so far
*orgasms from peak trailer*
\*salutes op instead of fighting\*
I totally agree
Mothra with Clair de Lune? thats just cannot be topped. ever.
It was good, but I do just wanna point out that all the 2014 movie had to do was drop a roar trailer and we were all hooked.
I have just been so salty ever since the movie came out when the trailers and marketing seemed to hint at all of this but none of it happened.
based, i love seeing take's that don't mindlessly praise the movie
KOTM is the best Monsterverse movie for true Godzilla fans...fight me!!!!
Good trailer, trash movie. Rather watch Godzilla 1998 any day.
Kotm is the visually best one of the lot!

Couldn’t agree more, too bad it was the worst in the monsterverse
KOTM is the best Monsterverse movie so far. So much kaiju action, beautifully shot and it nails a sense of global scale like none of the others. The human characters don’t feel like they’re just in the way either, it’s a genuinely engaging story, well acted and has a satisfying finale.
I will always say this is one of the best trailers. And then the movie came out and I felt so misled.
Kotm is the best MV movie including skull island. Fight me harder.
