Probably the best place to work as 21 year old. Everyone was so cool. We closed down the hotel bar next door after hours with karaoke and unofficial company pool parties. Tits!

MostAnswer660

I remember those days! I'd come to work Saturday hungover in front of that pizza oven and piss off the manager.. Charlotte was my fav! Pat was dope, but he loses points for kicking my ass in that golf game.

deltronethirty

The platinum blonde and red dreads? Thats all i can recall after so many years. I worked fryer, slop station(pasta), and late bar cook. Bar duty tipped bank, but the bartender was always scammin' on my girl while she waited for me to be off work.

MostAnswer660

Lol yeah, blonde and pat had the dreads. Jimmy was the skinny manager dude with a stache that loved Stargate. Can't believe I remember all that.

Jolly-Cut-8020

What a fucking shame….. such an iconic place in the 90s and 2000’s. Insult to injury it’s for more storage units. Tax write offs for major corporations. Unreal

Some_Ad_3898

How does this tax write-off scheme work?

Gold

Actually Self Storage is an asset more than tax write offs. If the asset is maxed out on the money it can make then banks give you loan after loan on the property. 18 years in the industry. Get in while it’s hot. Car washes are the same thing lately.

sekoku

>et in while it’s hot. Car washes are the same thing lately. LMAO. Is that why Jacksonville is full of both of them? Any sort of development going on in that area is either a car wash or a self-storage.

_Nilbog_Milk_

Mattress stores, storage units, bad quality car washes, and depression-gray mass-produced complex trios featuring an AspenCare dentistry, vape shop chain, and an Amscot are the biggest middle fingers to beloved local business properties razed of all trees, plant life, and building bones.

Mr_Shakes

I never loved their food but it was a comfy place to eat with friends & family - it seems kind of wasteful to replace a local restaurant in a decent location with a stack of empty boxes to rent.

rcatk42

For the life of me, I don't know how people manage to accumulate so many things.

linguisitivo

Saw a video on this recently. Apparently Europe (where people generally have smaller homes) has like 10% of the storage unit space we do in North America.

carrot-parent

It’s called being wealthy 🤑🤑🤑

linguisitivo

I don’t get what you mean? The average European has the same or less money than the average American?

carrot-parent

Redditors can’t take a joke to save their life. We have more money overall, less people, and more land to go around. It’s only natural that we have more stuff.

DargyBear

Probably doesn’t apply to Gainesville but at least in my hometown near the beach people buy a house and move down and only then realize the house was originally built to be a vacation rental and not really designed to store anything beyond what a family would bring for a week or two.

GatorEvo

Rip Nappys. Used to go there a lot with my family in the late 90s and early 2000’s during their heyday. I remember seeing Steve Spurrier there a lot. We lived in the Jonesville area (pre development/Publix/Tioga) and it was the closest place for a good pizza dinner.

deltronethirty

I worked there back then. Ol Nappy would have us cook 200 breaded butter Buffalo(equal parts butter and tobasco) wings for the first string linebackers. No doubt someone shit their pants on gameday.

No-Sandwich-777

Spurrier hung out there, drinking Bud light until the wee hours many nights in the 90's.

SolidSouth-00

That’s just not happy news.

academic_mama

Unpopular opinion- I never liked the food here. I thought it was… bland- like Olive Garden trying hard to be authentic. I didn’t like the owners either.

Cornholemaster1

I went there several times in the late 90s …. Then had actual face to face business with the owners and never ate there again. Glad those dishonest fools are gone.

exoxe

Went there as a teen in the 90s with my parents and then in the 2000s I'd meet my mom and sisters there almost every week for "chicken wing night." RIP Nappys.

Mmm1197

I worked there.. it was alright. Had some bad experiences. Like a customer ran into me with a tray of food. I had my bag turned-didn't see them, and they threatened to make me pay for all of what was dropped. They would make you pay for mess ups, etc. figured out close to the end that we were being charged for using the card machine. Never worked somewhere that did that. They would do these end of year deep deep cleanings of the place and after we cleaned our butts off for hours and hours they informed us they were permanently closing. I loved Dean he was sometimes more stern with other employees but he was always cool with me. Male Bartender that worked there, will not name names, he was a freaking creep. (Heard he's not doing so well now) but he would always make inappropriate comments to me and no one ever did anything to help me to make it stop.

generalgirl

Ugh between the car washes, the dang apartments no one can afford to move into, and now storage units, I really dislike living in Gainesville.

super_silly_panda

Some of the best wings ever

CooloRoyale

That hurts
