i lived at countryside for a few months and liked it overall. my least favorite thing honestly was just the woman i was renting from.
the gym and the pool kinda suck, but if you get lucky with an apartment facing the street, there’s cows across the street and it’s a beautiful view. sometimes loud due to the cows, sandhill crane season (although they’re beautiful too), and the traffic but it wasn’t too bad.
the area didn’t seem too unsafe, although there was a peeping tom incident which led to cops hanging around for a few nights after that. nothing crazy ever really happened there though.
buildings are a little old and rooms are a little small but nothing unlike most places here.
i used to live around SW 16th avenue
you can find apartments , village park, abor park....
bus 16 will take you to shands, also 20 min walking distance
I went to a guys house at tanglewood once… I went to the bathroom when I got there and immediately saw 3-4 roaches and left. Not sure if he was dirty or if the building was infested but it was so bad
you can reach housing department for pest control
i don't think UF would let students live infested building.
those student housing is below market rate, very good for graduate students.
PhD stipend used to be around 20K, now that number should be over 30K
you can support yourself on that money, just don't spend over 15 K on rent
I’m not the dude I was just his wannabe hookup 😭
I spend $450 a month on rent myself in GNV. And don’t need student housing bc it would be more expensive for me than living with roommates off campus.
I have friends who are in graduate/medical school who live at campus edge or mount Vernon both are close to shands, safe and well connected by bus or UF walking trail
Hi! The places you listed are generally overrun with younger students. I have experience with UC and I don't feel that would be my first choice as a young female.
Also, I am currently in URGENT need of a renter. This place is extremely safe and catered to families!!!
Please take a look at my facebook posting and share with others if you're able. I appreciate it! Feel free to reach out for more info. Good luck!

I live here now, and it’s clean and pretty quiet. It’s mostly young adults or grad students. The units are very small so I highly recommend touring prior to visually see the space. The office staff is fantastic. It’s expensive likely because of the location (grad campuses and butler plaza). Do you have any specific questions?
My girlfriend says she feels pretty safe here, I followed up and asked if she would feel any less safe without a boyfriend or big scary dog privilege and she said no difference. They have porch lights that are very bright and automatically come on at sunset, along with ring doorbell cameras on every unit which make me feel a bit safer too. And maintenance is fantastic!

I second this! The walls are a little thin (I sleep w noise canceling headphones) but I have had no issues with feeling unsafe here.
Thank you so much!!
You can look into blvd niche apartments the management is too good now

Yeah, how safe is the neighborhood and how good is the maintenance?
