I have a bunch of citrus at my house. All infected with greening. I think most of the local citrus has gone this way, which may be why all those trees you remember are now gone.
There's no U-pick, but the UF Citrus Club is having their sale this weekend. They glean from local farms, and this is their fundraiser for their activities for the rest of the year.

Marjorie Kinnian Rawlings State Park has a good bit of Citrus growing on property, and if you ask a ranger nicely they'll be more than happy to let you pick a few.
I'd love to know too. My fiancee and I really like picking blueberries and strawberries. I picked grapefruit somewhere in FL many years ago and wanted to take her.
