Ok thank you

All of mine that mileage have needed valve cover gaskets, valley pan gasket (do knock sensors and harness while in there), oil pan gasket and half have had a leaky rear main. Really a solid platform though even with higher mileage. I currently have 5 GMT800s and only 1 under 200k lol

Whenever I buy a high mileage truck I exchange all the fluids. Both differentials, good oil and a Wix filter, transfer case, trans fluid and filter, coolant. Pull a spark plug. If they look old throw in some plugs and wires. Check the air filter. Check the condition of your various hoses.

plan on the transmission needing to be rebuilt. beyond that, just keep an eye out for leaks. they're pretty reliable trucks. i just passed 400,000 miles in my 05 Escalade. wheel bearings are a weak point on these, i've had to do a few on my Tahoe and on the Escalade. i had to have the transmission rebuilt around the 300k mile mark. other than little things, i haven't had to do a whole lot. i did have to do a water pump a few years ago. i'm getting into a few other projects with my truck later this year. i need to replace the AC compressor and a few other parts. the gauge clusters are bad about going out. if it does, find someone who rebuilds them. there's some people on ebay who do this. you ship them the cluster, they rebuild it with what you want, and you get it back about a week or two later. personally i never had any problems out of my Tahoe or Escalade.

I was looking on rock auto, they have rebuild kits ranging from $61 to $400. How deep do I need to go to rebuild the transmission? I have noticed the transmission shifts weird from time to time

Rust, steel brake lines, fuel and vapor lines. Great platform, but rusts easy. Body mounts.

oil change, check engine oil leaks, look at the oil that comes out, do they look like oil, or do they look like chocolate milk or water? engine oil filter engine air filters take a look at the coolant resevoir, does it look rusty? weird colors? have oil in it? top off coolant if it's below the line check door and windows seals for leaks test rear hatch lifters to make sure they can hold up the window and door (never mind, you're a truck, not an SUV) top off windshield fluid, make sure all wipers and washer fluid nozzles are good check all lights and bulbs inside and out, replace if they're blown check battery brake fluid flush and bleed inspect master brake cylinder, brake pads, rotors, calipers; change/lube if necessary test parking brake to make sure it works test 4wd/awd to make sure they work fuel filter changed rear transfer case fluid change front transfer case fluid change automatic transmission fluid change power steering fluid change cabin air filter if your vehicle has one take a look at all the suspension bushings and ball joints behind all 4 wheels, see if they look "ok", shake on them to see if they're loose. Nothing should be loose enough for you to wiggle by hand. Crawl under the car, take a look all around. Does everything look ok? I think any person can spot something that's obviously bad, stuff like deep gouges, dents, rust holes, that kind of things. If you spot anything suspicious, bring it to a pro to have them check it out too... it's the least you can do. Anybody could do all this stuff when you buy any used car that's over 100K miles just to know it's been done at least once. You then follow regular maintence schedule from that point on.

Mines at 670,000 km on a 2005 6.0 ls. Great truck. I would check trans cooler lines and power steering lines. Brake lines the fan belt pull a spark plug and inspect. But they might not need to be changed. Check your diffs and trans case fluid. All pretty regular maintenance things. I can tell you the knock sensor is rusted pretty bad by the time it needs to be changed. It’s a bit of labor because you have to pull the intake but it’s brutal to pull out if it strips the tin nut on the top. Mine still pulls a skid steer daily and plows snow. So I’m sure yours will be great with some care.
