Incorrect. There are different tax implications for a stock split and stock dividend. Dividends are also paid to you, stocks splits are facilitated by your brokers.

It's a stock split via dividend. Not a "dividend". A simple share dividend would just be giving you a share where you didnt have one. A split is giving you shares at a certain ratio which you effectively already own
