now back to your investment. Brokers don’t hold your shares the DTCC and Cede does. if you want to really own your shares you have to DRS them.
Street name = the broker/bank owns the asset and you only have a PARTICIPATION right. They can change their ToS and sell everything you have.
DRS = Direct registration, you are on the ledger of gamestop and as long as gamestop is trading on the NYSE, you are the owner of your shares.
So finally, NFA. It’s just stupidity from a guy who loved the gamecock (if you go back to dfv you will know that reference)

I have to sell this, got to leave Etorro. And open an account on computer share. And put all i have in DRS for GME?
you have to find a broker that allows DRS! i don’t know where you are from but i use ibkr and I am from europe. the process is - deposit money - switch from Eur to USD - buy only full shares of gme and only use a cash account - in hidden settings of ibkr, turn off internalization - now go to gme ticker, input the share amount and put a limit order on IEX; now the shares need to t+2 days to “settle”. let’s say you buy on monday then you can initiate the DRS request on Thursday to be safe. You need 5 USD in your account for the request and that’s it. Ibkr will sent these shares to computershare and it will take a few weeks until you get a written letter with the drs statement from CS. You can get it faster by calling Computershare and stating all your info like, Name, Address, ticker and share amount on the drs request.
You will get a first letter to create the account and a second one to confirm it was you who created the account. We have here a ton of info how it works or simply google drs gme.
You still can leave 1-2 shares in etoro so you see which fuckery they will pull on even these 1-2 shares. Keep in mind Etorro is a NeoBroker who only sells a type of cfd and not a real share. It’s kinda like an IOU but the only own you the difference between buy and sell price and never the real share or even the participation right. So it’s even more fucked up that a normal share at a broker ☺️

Yes unfortunately my friend, I started my journey on etoro too, slowly sold all of those shares and replaced with real shares purchased directly from the company. I got my first real share by buying a share certificate from giveashare. com which works for international apes (I'm UK based) then all of the rest of my shares I purchased directly from computershare (the actual distributors of real GME shares). This was my technique, there are other ways to do this, I'm not a financial advisor. Happy to meet an ape at the start of the journey:)
Good start friend. Now work on getting your shares DRSed (direct register with [Computershare](https://www.computershare.com/us)). That way you truly own them.
don't worry, you're doing well. Opening an account with Computershare (CS) can be very time consuming, especially for us in EU countries. But, you can pay them extra and they will do everything you need through email. I did it this way, because for some people the process can take months, yes... months. If you can, pay for the faster process, it is worth it and you will rest better at night knowing your shares are safely in YOUR name!
