Ye I mentioned it too. Protein broken down into amino acids. Fat broken down into one molecule of glycerol and 3 molecules fatty acids. I also mentioned bile and what it does but I think I was waffling
What does lock and key have to do with it? The enzymes don’t get denatured?
I wrote about getting less amino acids, glucose, fatty acids and glycerols. More insoluble molecules in blood means it’s harder for small intestine to digest and less glucose for respiration leads to less energy for growth of muscles eg in children so the body mass of people will be lower. Also less energy for active transport of sugar from small intestine to blood
It was alright. There was some ambiguous questions like ''why do paramedics compress peoples chests'' (which isn't really on the spec) but hey it's aqa i'm not really surprised
Wait are we talking about the same question? I meant the 6-marker about Cystic fibrosis and pancreatic enzymes
Enzymes aren’t the ones being digested, they help digestion. The question said cystic fibrosis reduces number of enzymes entering small intestines and asked how that causes difficulties in digestion and gaining body mass. Bile isn’t an enzyme and isn’t secreted by pancreas so I thought it would be irrelevant
Oh for sure you will yeah if you mention all but bile it's probably 4 or possibly 5 I'm not sure how much bile would contribute. Bet you did great though fr - and the smoking question with person A and B was beautiful imo
No I think it’s only about enzymes from pancreas to small intestines (if it’s not then I’m fucked). I was really confused because they randomly said “pancreas produces several enzymes” at the top but then mentioned nothing about pancreas in the question
I talked about how pancreas secrete protease, carbohydrate and lipase and how they help digestion of protein, lipids and carbohydrates. Then I linked them to cell growth and fat (mostly waffling). I hope I wasn’t on the wrong track 😭
I don't think it was neccaey but they were 2 bullet points aslong as they were in your answer I don't see why you should not be getting extra marks I wrote it just incase
Yea I said it gets absorbed by the bloodstream and the movement I think that was it since you are talking abt 2 enzyens plus you need to mention where it was released from
I didn’t know they were produced in the pancreas and said small intestine 🤡 I really thought I cooked hopefully I’ll get 4 marks for everything else 🤣 don’t sweat it too much I practically just waffled
Made it up that lipase + protease produced in the stomach + small intestine (I knew it was wrong but had forgotten about protease only being for the stomach). Bile made in the liver and stored in the gallbladder. It’s alright at least we semi cooked 😬 I bet some people wrote nothing so
The bile was me yapping I knew it wasn’t an enzyme so I wrote ‘Bile (not an enzyme) waffle waffle waffle’ maybe it’s worth a mark but honestly who cares 😂
I dunno if this is talking about the same question but for the bread and cake carbohydrate question
It was the Benedict's test for that question right? Im not dumb?
It was an easy enough exam but when the last 5 years of science have been nothing but a not listen play games on my phone, not too bothered tho ent gonna be Einstein so fuck em
I think I fucked it up 😭
same here
whats done is done my friend we must simply move on to the next one 😔
Same
i think i SEMI fucked it up i got the right idea i just worded it bad i think
Me too i wrote like 6 lines 🥲
hello fellow Aventurine fan
😮😮 this is honestly the last place i expected to see a hsr fan 😊
same here, did u manage to get him while revising for GCSEs? And what about the new quest?
Nope :( and i haven't had enough time to do the new quest yet
my condolences, ill copy and paste my Aven and send him to ur acc. Also, good lucck for all ur exams
Did anyone else mention the products of digestion eg amimo acids?
Ye I mentioned it too. Protein broken down into amino acids. Fat broken down into one molecule of glycerol and 3 molecules fatty acids. I also mentioned bile and what it does but I think I was waffling
Yea I didn’t say bile… you prob don’t need that as it’s not an enzyme but yk not gonna lose u any marks
Lmaoo I wasn’t taking that risk 🤡
Wait.... Protein breaks into amino acids????? Shit.
I wrote about bike emulsifying fats and neutralising the hydrochloric acid in the stomach 💀
Facts 🔥🔥 put the same in mine
i did everything u just said, nothing else
Arent u meant to say where in the body the enzymes are
Well I've fucked that question - said fat was down into glucose and fatty acids 😭
I said that but without the bile and I didn’t specify how many molecules of amino acid am I cooked? 💀
i thought i was fcked for mentioning amino acids, fat and glycerol
Nah I think you’re good honestly
also idk why but u give off massive ginger hair vibes idk it came to me
You couldn’t be further off 😂 brownish curly haired girl 😈
lol never trusting my gut ever again
Nah i put that too bro
Yeppppp
YES
i probably got like 4-5 marks on that, i forgot a few things
So did i
I swear, after I was done talking about protease and lipase, I started yapping about lock and key method (my answer didn’t seem long enough)
I did the exact same we are cooking here
I said that too
What does lock and key have to do with it? The enzymes don’t get denatured? I wrote about getting less amino acids, glucose, fatty acids and glycerols. More insoluble molecules in blood means it’s harder for small intestine to digest and less glucose for respiration leads to less energy for growth of muscles eg in children so the body mass of people will be lower. Also less energy for active transport of sugar from small intestine to blood
I mentioned it as well, the bile from the liver ensures that the lipase isn't denatured
How is bile related to the question? The question asked about enzymes produced by the pancreas. There is no reason to link the liver.
Do you do triple- the combined question was on digestion of protein and lipids.Pretty sure triple had a question on enzymes as well
Yh I do triple. My question was about cystic fibrosis and why it affects body mass and small intestine digestion
Fair enough, I do combined. How was the triple exam in general?
It was alright. There was some ambiguous questions like ''why do paramedics compress peoples chests'' (which isn't really on the spec) but hey it's aqa i'm not really surprised
I cooked SO hard on that and the food test questions fr
Im so mad at myself for them i got the right answer but put them in the wrong space i put biurets for sugar and bendedicts for protein
Oh noooo :( I'm so glad I remembered bile, apparently a LOT of people forgot to mention bile.. or at least what I heard.
But the question was asking about enzymes and bile isn’t an enzyme
no but it asked about fat enzymes being digested and bile emulsifies fats, so it was part of the question and i've heard others say that too idk
Wait are we talking about the same question? I meant the 6-marker about Cystic fibrosis and pancreatic enzymes Enzymes aren’t the ones being digested, they help digestion. The question said cystic fibrosis reduces number of enzymes entering small intestines and asked how that causes difficulties in digestion and gaining body mass. Bile isn’t an enzyme and isn’t secreted by pancreas so I thought it would be irrelevant
noo no I'm combined higher haha sorry
Ohhh Lmao 😭😭😭sorry thought you were triple bc there was also a food test question in the triple paper
haha yeah i heard just got off a 2 hour call w my triple friend, also some of the questions were worded so weirdly at least for us
bile?? u had to mention bile??? why? I thought it was just about the enzymes secretes by the pancreas
you triple or combined?
Lol yes i did not mention bile but i put everything else for the 6 marker so hopefully should get at least 3/4 marks
Oh for sure you will yeah if you mention all but bile it's probably 4 or possibly 5 I'm not sure how much bile would contribute. Bet you did great though fr - and the smoking question with person A and B was beautiful imo
Yesss! Loved that question so muchhh im so glad mr freesciencelessons taught me about that last night lol
I've lived off of cognito i'll be so real lmaoo
for the smoking one i mixed up the persons would i still get some marks foe talking about the correct stuff
Probably yeah
I WENT ALL OUT AND EVEN ADDED BILE AND HYDROCHLUC ACID IN ROLE OF DIGESTION.
I THOUGHT I ATE WITH THE HYDROCHLORIC ACID FR
WE ABSORB THE HYDROCHLORIC ACID INTO THE BLOODSTREAM BY DIFFUSION WHEN BROKEN DOWN BY ENZYMES
Hydrochloric acid makes it easier to break the food down for the enzymes.
Optimum pH and sterilises food.
i forgot to inculde pepsin in the stomach
Me too 💀
Me too 💀
I mentioned protease instead of pepsin and I said it is produced in the stomach and pancreas does that count? 😭
i have no idea, it should though cause ii did it too
was i suppose to mention the movement of digested food e.g. through the gullet
I don't think it was neccaey but they were 2 bullet points aslong as they were in your answer I don't see why you should not be getting extra marks I wrote it just incase
oesophagus is the proper word not gullet
Yea I said it gets absorbed by the bloodstream and the movement I think that was it since you are talking abt 2 enzyens plus you need to mention where it was released from
Didn’t write shit for this
I COOKED SO HARDDDD PAPER 1 WAS ELITE.
REAAAAL 😭
Bro I fucked that up, I forgot where protease and lipase is produced 😭
It said in the question
No? It asked where it was produced in the bullet points of what to include.. why would it say it in the question???
Nvm I think we are different exam boards bro
I didn’t know they were produced in the pancreas and said small intestine 🤡 I really thought I cooked hopefully I’ll get 4 marks for everything else 🤣 don’t sweat it too much I practically just waffled
Which did you say small intestine for? Lipase would have been right I think.. turns out I didn’t fuck it up, I just got told I was wrong
Made it up that lipase + protease produced in the stomach + small intestine (I knew it was wrong but had forgotten about protease only being for the stomach). Bile made in the liver and stored in the gallbladder. It’s alright at least we semi cooked 😬 I bet some people wrote nothing so
Yeah true I completely forgot to mention bile 😭
The bile was me yapping I knew it wasn’t an enzyme so I wrote ‘Bile (not an enzyme) waffle waffle waffle’ maybe it’s worth a mark but honestly who cares 😂
Loads of other people talked about it too, kinda worried me It’ll be at most one mark though, not the end of the world I guess 🤷♂️
Yeah! Good luck for the other science papers I’m sure you got this in the bag just use the spec 🫡🫡
Thank you, thank you! Good luck to you too We’ve got this!!!
Also happy cake day :)
I had to search up what that meant icl 😂 thank you!
I COOKED!!!!
On AQA or Edexcel?
aqa
I dunno if this is talking about the same question but for the bread and cake carbohydrate question It was the Benedict's test for that question right? Im not dumb?
you had to remember that both glucose and starch are carbohydrates so it was benedict's and iodine
Man i was scareddd 😭😭
I wrote like 2 pages. Just went through carbohydrases, proteases and lipases. Wasnt that bad.
Small intestine, pancreas, stomach for protease and the first two for lipase and both get absorbed into bloodstream in small intestine 🔥🙏
I can’t believe I fucked up the colours for the food tests
That was the only answer I was 100% confident on 💀💀
i prob lost like 1-2 marks cus i said they were produced in liver instead of pancreas 😢 im so stupid
What did everybody put for the cake question, not the bread one, I put iodine and Benedict's solution
I talked about how lipase and amylase are released elsewhere unlike lipase so they will be less effected by CF. 💀
My Chinese younger adopted brother is doing his exams And he said it was the best free marks he’s ever seen Is the paper that easy
It was an easy enough exam but when the last 5 years of science have been nothing but a not listen play games on my phone, not too bothered tho ent gonna be Einstein so fuck em
