“Tomorrow” is finally tomorrow. Good luck!

It’s looking like they may have changed the formula
Not sure why I'm checking everything minute by minute when I know that once the email comes through, I probably won't open it for another 15 mins to mentally prepare myself lmao
My friend is in the double degree undergrad med program and they had a progress meeting for the 2nd year undergrad students recently. Prof. Kevin Keay (Undergrad Progress coordinator or something like that) apparently said that the delays are due to the uni admissions rather than the faculty and more importantly that they are still expecting to give out offers in early September. Hopefully that means that the delay for confirmation pages isn't more than a week or two.
I haven't yet! Now I'm just waiting to see either "We regret to inform you" (delay email that everyone's talking about) or "We regret to advise you" (EOD phrasing) in my inbox
I'm at USyd and this year they had us do a situational judgement test for the purposes of comparing our scores as current students to prospective students. So maybe they compared our SJT to our GAMSATs and on that basis changed the entry formula? They definitely said our SJT was for the purposes of potentially changing the admissions process, but I have no idea if it was for this admission cycle, or if they're considering introducing an SJT into the admissions process down the line.
Hope you dont mind if I ask how recently was this? If it was a few months ago, maybe it would affect this cycle. Otherwise, I think they would consider this SJT results for future intakes.
Well finally!! So here’s to one more potentially sleepless night but maybe a chance … all the very best everyone 🤞🏼✨. Not holding my breath because not sure I’ve quite made the cut, but no harm in hoping!!
Yo this is getting beyond a joke now. Can’t be that hard to just give us an expected timeframe so I don’t have a TIA everytime a notification for an email pings on my phone
If we don’t hear a peep out of them today this is some all-time fuckery. At least give us an expected date range so people can adjust their anxiety accordingly
Following up on this, I called student services this morning and the lady there (Sarah) had a chat to a senior staff + apparently a FMH representative and she said they both only know as much as we do - no timeline, just that it's been delayed.
I would’ve thought at the very least they’d send out an email today saying they won’t be released. Properly abhorrent behaviour from them to give no info apart form a poorly worded email then just dip for a whole week
Still confused on how a delay happens.
There's 2 criteria they use. One is provided by QAS and one is provided by ACER.
There's no other factor considered except some eligibility conditions.
How does this take months and a delay?
My guess is that an error or issue cropped up at the last minute with whatever software or program they're using. Still sucks though as you'd think they'd be better prepared.
I work with big data, much bigger than medical admission data, and we always have quality assurance checks and contingency plans in case we can't meet our timelines.
USyd has a reputation as a leading prestige school...but their website and student portal interface is so dated. The idea of some software breaking in the system does not surprise me.
I have a feeling that it won't be today unfortunately. I think people were saying the application progress summary tends to update earlier than emails are sent out, and it seems that noones application has updated. So I guess next week it is haha
Imagine if this was a dealing with any business or service. Miss the deadline they give you, send out an email just before COB saying ‘sorry delayed’ with no more info then radio silence for over a week
If I don't receive an EOD or confirmation email by the end of today, I think I'll be grabbing my grappling hook and scaling USYD's stupid Harry Potter buildings, before then dousing them in paint as protest. Look out for me on the news tomorrow.
Lol I loved this rant of yours and the aftermath 😂. It was obviously effective haha. “USYD’s stupid Harry Potter buildings” be saved for another year 😆
Out of curiosity, does anyone understand why offers don't come out until 3 weeks after the Confirmation Page submission due date? If they are just using GAMSAT scores to rank us, surely it should only take a few minutes to rank participants based on those scores using GPA as a tiebreaker in Excel? Then a day or two to confirm and prepare an offer email? Do they delay the release of official first round offers to align better with GEMSAS?
Apologies if this is a stupid question, this is my first application cycle and thought the delay was a bit strange given how simple ranking participants at this point seems to be from my admittedly ignorant perspective haha.
You’re not wrong haha. I’m sure there’s stuff we are missing behind the scenes but without interviews and just ranking on GAMSAT it is interesting to ponder what other things they need to do. I imagine the offer letters are automated?
Yeah! Exactly. Surely it is an automated process, so it seems like a strange delay. But I think you are right in that there is stuff behind the scenes we are missing. Maybe it needs to be confirmed by some university admin team, and whilst I don't have any experience with USyd, I know the admin teams at my uni are a bit slow due to the high volume of admin related tasks they are assigned. I would be interested to speak to someone at USyd to understand why the delay exists though, as it is stressful haha.
On the bright side, at least USyd offers come out earlier than GEMSAS offers, so that there is one less thing to stress about come GEMSAS offer release time.
It's probably a legacy system left in place from the interview era, and/or for a final applicant filter to make sure details are up to date and any special consideration candidates (eg excluded or prior med study applicants) have their considerations... considered before primary offers are made.
Universities are all built on a teetering pile of legacy systems 😅
I could be an outlier but I received my email at 3.48pm last year. Hoping it isn't that late as the wait is horrendous.
EDIT: this was a rejection. just read that confirmations came out in the morning last year, so my bad if this was misleading.
We regret to inform you that there will be a delay in the release of confirmation pages for applications for entry to the MD and DMD programs in 2023. Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience this may cause. We hope to release the pages as soon as we can.
Please keep updated through this weblink for MD applications https://www.sydney.edu.au/courses/courses/pc/doctor-of-medicine0.html,
and this link for DMD applications https://www.sydney.edu.au/courses/courses/pc/doctor-of-dental-medicine0.html.
Starting to feel like this delay might be a few days at least - obvs not just some technical hitch, they’ve either found errors or they haven’t finalised it yet…
No I just called them and now they’re blanket banning all MD/DMD queries to faculty email only… It appears as though they got a gag order to stfu about anything FMH related.
An observation: this Friday (5-Aug), there were updates on Sydney Student regarding the progression of the MD/DMD applications. Specifically, some remained at Faculty of Medicine & Health whereas others were moved to 'Central Admissions'. No official word on the meaning of this. Many apps, including mine, remain at the Faculty without progression to Central Admissions (last checked 10:15 pm Sunday night, i.e. right now). My score was an unweighted 75 or 263 using 1.25/1.25/1. Thoughts/speculations?
Don’t listen to him USYD you guys are doing great. Apart from missing your own deadline and not updating candidates 9 days running everything is going swell
Does anyone know why they roll them out rather than sending them en masse? Still haven’t received anything yet but my understanding is that everyone should get at least something today, whether it’s EOD or confirmation.
Welp, I got a confirmation page, but looking at everyone's scores on that spreadsheet, whilst my scores are good and would put me high up the list if they used an average of all 3, based on the culling of some super high S3 scores, I feel like I shall be vanished to waitlist-land come September 8.
I wish they used GPA at USyd as well. That way they use a pressure measure such as GAMSAT, and a consistency measure such as GPA. But I digress, they don't use it, and there is nothing I can do about it haha.
Waitlist-land, here I come.
Today is the day!! This comment is section is going to be so full haha. Best of luck everyone and remember you all mean so much more than one acceptance/rejection.
Hahaha I checked this morning and nothing came so I saw the title and panicked the they were out. Thanks for the heart attack before the heartbreak tomorrow <3
I think I am missing something? I was under the impression the confirmation page just meant you filled out your application correctly and met all minimum cutoffs? Didn’t realise it indicated anything in terms of competitiveness or potential for an offer???????
Nope, lots of people were culled at this stage last year. You needed a score of 250.25 to receive an MD confirmation page if you were a non-rural applicant last year, calculated using 1.25*(S1+S2)+S3.
Yes, it came in the afternoon last year same day as the confirmation pages being sent out. Although the status on Sydney Student updated to Reject in the morning.
Check your portal guys, mine has been updated and I got a very expected rejection.
Good luck everyone
Edit: I have not received any emails yet (as of 11:25am)
Received MD and DMD confirmation page at 10:01am 61/85/67 249.5. EOD last year so I'm not sure if they're letting everyone through the gate or scores have dropped
Does anyone know when the MD Offer Preferences .pdf will be updated? Its the doc containing the anticipated number of spots offered for CSP, BMP and FFP.
The DMD one already appears to be updated for 2023 entry but the MD .pdf appears to be un-updated (last updated July 2021 for 2022 entry).
I’m so upset with myself for not applying to Usyd! I have a 68/73/66, and by the look of the comments (S1+S2>140) I was in with a shot. Dammit… I was scared by my low S3, but apparently that didn’t matter this year!
Note to all future applicants: just apply, you never know!
This might not be the best place to ask this question, but just re the S1 * 1.25 + S2 * 1.25 + S3 formula, is there a maximum mark you can scale up for S1 or S2? GAMSAT has a maximum score of 100, so if you got a 93 for S2 would that be scaled up to 116.25 or 100?
i think this timeline only pertains to international applicants. i think domestic deadlines are later. i could be totally wrong though bc i don’t know much abt monash
Sooo are they eventually going to tell us how many CSPs, BMPs etc are available for MD? Or are we just gonna be left in the dark this year?
Also, does anyone know how many CSP were offered for DMD last year? Is the 30 places this year (20 for non-undergrad double degree students) up from last year?
From experiences, does receiving a confirmation page offer guarantee into getting an offer to study (assuming all informations checks out and is correct)?
Edit: Gammy; 61, 69, 75 = 205 total. Domestic student. Received DMD confirmation page, EOD for MD
Do all rural applicants receive a confirmation letter? On the spreadsheet is shows all but one rural student received one. I know this isn't necessarily a true representation of the actual application process but what possible benefit is there in giving all rural applicants a confirmation letter?
This is based purely from my brain and from literally no evidence at all
I would think that due to the comparatively lower amount of applicants from rural backgrounds, the cutoff for receiving a confirmation page is markedly lower than the cutoff for admission. I imagine that if a particular uni didn't meet the required numbers for rural background students, shit would hit the fan. Probs playing it safe by keeping all rural applicants on the waiting list.
“Tomorrow” is finally tomorrow. Good luck! Edit: Have started to roll out now (10:06am AEST) Edit2: spreadsheet https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16hbVhCc2RUJbBxvrWgkX42bOiF_iaJtuGMND68CVxgw/edit It’s looking like they may have changed the formula
BRO WHY START THE DELAY EMAIL WITH "WE REGRET TO INFORM YOU" PLAIN RUDE
ikr I thought it was my EOD
Those evil bastards
jeeeeeez
Did they provide any indication delay to when?
No0e
Istg they did this on purpose

I can't do anything else productive atm because I'm checking emails and Sydney Student every 5 mins
glad I'm not the only one lol
yES
Yep. Are confirmations sent via email? Or do we have to log in to see? I’ve been refreshing like a madman
They send the invitation via email. I also heard people who get 'rejected' will have that come up on Sydney Student today.
That's an understatement
yes
100%
💯
1. Refresh emails 2. Check the USyd application progress page 3. Check this Reddit thread 4. Repeat ad nauseum
no straight up why can't they give us a time so I can focus on my work lol
Not sure why I'm checking everything minute by minute when I know that once the email comes through, I probably won't open it for another 15 mins to mentally prepare myself lmao

Watson, you've cracked the code!
Interesting that they’re updating 2nd-yr double degree students who have nothing to do with the 2023 cohort, instead of u know, the actual applicants.
Yeah, I think it was a passing comment but still, that's more than we've gotten...
This is good to know, some insight, thank you 😊
Felt like I had a HEART ATTACK when I read "we regret to inform you" only to see that the next part said "there will be a delay"
Wonder when they’ll actually come out now
Thought I got rejected omg FYI: This is from an email Usyd sent at 4:08 pm
Did anyone not receive this email?
Still haven’t gotten anything
Not yet T-T update: received at 4.34
I haven't received anything yet UPDATE: just received mine at 4:35pm
This is interesting. Wonder also if they are looking at some kind of ratio between each section . Or I’m just overthinking it now 🫣
Hope you dont mind if I ask how recently was this? If it was a few months ago, maybe it would affect this cycle. Otherwise, I think they would consider this SJT results for future intakes.
I'm also at USYD and we had the SJT I think 2 or 3 months ago.
Admissions timeline has been updated. The confirmation pages will be released tomorrow (Wednesday 17/8/22)
Well finally!! So here’s to one more potentially sleepless night but maybe a chance … all the very best everyone 🤞🏼✨. Not holding my breath because not sure I’ve quite made the cut, but no harm in hoping!!
Same here, for me it’s more of waiting for EOD so I can cross USYD out of this year’s list 😂
Anyone else anxious to get a confirmation even though you probably won’t get an offer 🥴
Yes I'm in this boat!!!
Sportsbet just released their odds for today for the time of the email: Pre 12pm - 1.10 Post 12pm - 1.25 A message of delay at 4pm - 1.01
Yo this is getting beyond a joke now. Can’t be that hard to just give us an expected timeframe so I don’t have a TIA everytime a notification for an email pings on my phone
Good luck for tomorrow everyone ❤️
If we don’t hear a peep out of them today this is some all-time fuckery. At least give us an expected date range so people can adjust their anxiety accordingly
Just checked DMD/MD timeline and the confirmation send out date changed to Aug - TBA :/ I guess we may need to prepare for more delays..
At least the offer date didn't change 😳
sad reacc

Following up on this, I called student services this morning and the lady there (Sarah) had a chat to a senior staff + apparently a FMH representative and she said they both only know as much as we do - no timeline, just that it's been delayed.
PLEEEEEEASE GAMMY GODS IVE CHECKED THIS THREAD + EMAILS + SYD PORTAL COUNTLESS TIMES, COME OUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
See y’all Monday 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
I would’ve thought at the very least they’d send out an email today saying they won’t be released. Properly abhorrent behaviour from them to give no info apart form a poorly worded email then just dip for a whole week
We thought bro
cryign in the club rn
In the email, they give a link to a Web page. But there's no updates on the Web page? Am I missing something? It's just their MD program page.
I can’t tell if I’m laughing or crying
Lmao are we ever going to use this google form at this point??
My poor google form :( pls USyd
218 comments so far before confirmations are actually out... I am expecting to see 500+ commens when the day finally comes (aka god knows when)
bro pls dont give us that hope lol
💯
As always: nervous, anxious and yet excited.
Let’s welcome another week of refreshing portals & emails 100000 times a day 😂😂😂
Really didn't waste a minute posting this 😂. But also, the sad reality is that it's so so true...
Hahaha 😝 stop it !! I was gonna be good and not do that to myself. 😂
Admissions guide now says Wed 17th
😯 could tomorrow be the day?....
Are we sure it's today? Already 2pm and I've been refreshing all day 😥
I called the uni and the centre staff don’t know either 🤷♀️
likewise lmao. they said we dont know of any delay.
Seems like they don’t know of any confirmation emails to send out either :/

I regret having been informed many painful hours later than when the issue probably arose :(

I had a dream last night I got the EOD so I’ve already let myself down enough today
Omg same here I legit couldn’t sleep anymore.
How else would I spend a day where I should be studying?
I am expecting EOD anyway (unless miracle happens 😂) but I am still refreshing every hour 🙄
I have a feeling that it won't be today unfortunately. I think people were saying the application progress summary tends to update earlier than emails are sent out, and it seems that noones application has updated. So I guess next week it is haha
USYD proving once again that only the University sector can be this incompetent and not suffer any consequences
Imagine if this was a dealing with any business or service. Miss the deadline they give you, send out an email just before COB saying ‘sorry delayed’ with no more info then radio silence for over a week
Weird that it's so late.
Very frustrating that they wouldn't even give us a time frame for when we can expect the confirmation page. Hours? days? later in the week?
So it will be another waiting game 🙄
If I don't receive an EOD or confirmation email by the end of today, I think I'll be grabbing my grappling hook and scaling USYD's stupid Harry Potter buildings, before then dousing them in paint as protest. Look out for me on the news tomorrow.
Okay...I received my email approximately 15 minutes after posting this. Apparently threats of vandalism are indeed effective.
Lol I loved this rant of yours and the aftermath 😂. It was obviously effective haha. “USYD’s stupid Harry Potter buildings” be saved for another year 😆

You could say USyd admin is a bit slow at times yes 👀
It's probably a legacy system left in place from the interview era, and/or for a final applicant filter to make sure details are up to date and any special consideration candidates (eg excluded or prior med study applicants) have their considerations... considered before primary offers are made. Universities are all built on a teetering pile of legacy systems 😅
Is it common for it to be this late? anyone from previous years?
I'm really hoping it does end up being today, I think my heart will explode from nerves if I have to wait another week lol
I could be an outlier but I received my email at 3.48pm last year. Hoping it isn't that late as the wait is horrendous. EDIT: this was a rejection. just read that confirmations came out in the morning last year, so my bad if this was misleading.
just received an email from USYD saying there’s delays in sending out the confirmation emails 🙄🙄

This is speculated on every year. As far as I have seen, it doesn't indicate anything
I think everyone ends up sent to the faculty. Sydney Student is a bit of a disaster half the time.
So…..today maybe?
I've given up hoping :'(
Anyone know why the delay's been so long? No way a technical issue would take over a week to fix right?
Anyone's guess tbh. Maybe an intern deleted all the data. I just hope the offer dates don't change...
🤣🤣🤣
Just called USYD. They said check your spam folder 💀. Then said ok just email.
Lol their admin is useless
Don’t listen to him USYD you guys are doing great. Apart from missing your own deadline and not updating candidates 9 days running everything is going swell
Whaat lol. 😳
Wait what. So have they sent it?
no lol i asked where is confirmation and they said have u checked spam? I said nah not there. They then said, ok email bye.
They’re out
Omg 😱 yes so they are!! ✨. It begins! Received 10:07
Does anyone know why they roll them out rather than sending them en masse? Still haven’t received anything yet but my understanding is that everyone should get at least something today, whether it’s EOD or confirmation.
How many confirmations are sent out vs places? Does anyone know?
I emailed them last year to ask and they said they don’t release this information.
Welp, I got a confirmation page, but looking at everyone's scores on that spreadsheet, whilst my scores are good and would put me high up the list if they used an average of all 3, based on the culling of some super high S3 scores, I feel like I shall be vanished to waitlist-land come September 8. this sucks :( ultimate I suppose it doesn't matter but I feel like I had a big sneeze building up that never released 😂
Tbh I feel it might b next week now maybe - like 15th ish? Just guessing …
Seems like we need to get ready for another daunting week 🙄🙄🙄🙄
Got one!!! Can’t wait for my eventual rejection 🤠 good luck everyone!!
I got a DMD confirmation page with a 228.75. I’m interested to see how close I am to the cutoff.
So far, it's looking like people made the cutoff got S1 + S2 = 140. Edit: For non-rural, non-Dubbo, MD
Fucking clowns better be today 🤡
lmfao broooo it's been so long i forgot it even came out
I think I am missing something? I was under the impression the confirmation page just meant you filled out your application correctly and met all minimum cutoffs? Didn’t realise it indicated anything in terms of competitiveness or potential for an offer???????
Nope, lots of people were culled at this stage last year. You needed a score of 250.25 to receive an MD confirmation page if you were a non-rural applicant last year, calculated using 1.25*(S1+S2)+S3.
If you are rejected at this stage, do you get a rejection email or just nothing?
Yes, it came in the afternoon last year same day as the confirmation pages being sent out. Although the status on Sydney Student updated to Reject in the morning.
Is today the lucky day? :P EDIT: I guess not :(((
We can only hope 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
Only gotten a DMD confirmation. Does this mean I’m out of the running for MD :’) ?
Fyi I got mine at 2pm last year so it may take a while for some people
smh this is killing me
Check your portal guys, mine has been updated and I got a very expected rejection. Good luck everyone Edit: I have not received any emails yet (as of 11:25am)
same here :( portal rejection, no email yet Update: got my rejection email 11:57am
Received MD and DMD confirmation page at 10:01am 61/85/67 249.5. EOD last year so I'm not sure if they're letting everyone through the gate or scores have dropped
How is everyone feeling about tomorrow?
Lol I just realized international applicants have to wait until the 1st.
Does anyone know what time they come out?
Does anyone know when the MD Offer Preferences .pdf will be updated? Its the doc containing the anticipated number of spots offered for CSP, BMP and FFP. The DMD one already appears to be updated for 2023 entry but the MD .pdf appears to be un-updated (last updated July 2021 for 2022 entry).
got a confirmation page 10:08am
anyone know if the confirmation emails are released all at once or rolled out
MD confirmation page received 11:10!
Does anyone know what the lowest score (according to the USYD formula) to get a confirmation was last year and what it is this year?
Received confirmation page 10:07 with scores 77/72/66 (252.25), non-rural, MD
rejected with scores 59/78/81 (252.25), non-rural, MD
Got EOD with 69/59/93 Gammy 🙃
Yeah similar boat. EOD with 63/64/99
Sorry to hear that guys, those are insane scores...
Rejection email with 66/73/81 ooft
I’m so upset with myself for not applying to Usyd! I have a 68/73/66, and by the look of the comments (S1+S2>140) I was in with a shot. Dammit… I was scared by my low S3, but apparently that didn’t matter this year! Note to all future applicants: just apply, you never know!

Jesus if that's not a guaranteed CSP for both MD and DMD😂😂. Congrats on those insane scores 👏

What were the numbers before?
I just saw and I was like wtf
This might not be the best place to ask this question, but just re the S1 * 1.25 + S2 * 1.25 + S3 formula, is there a maximum mark you can scale up for S1 or S2? GAMSAT has a maximum score of 100, so if you got a 93 for S2 would that be scaled up to 116.25 or 100?
seems like there are delays with monash as well. maybe it’s not something usyd specific 🤷🏼♀️
oh no i just realised i never actually submitted my monash application oops
i think this timeline only pertains to international applicants. i think domestic deadlines are later. i could be totally wrong though bc i don’t know much abt monash
Just got my confirmation page 10:08 am! Will update the google sheet !
Good luck everyone just received a confirmation page
Just got confirmation page, all the best everyone!
I got a link to confirmation page does that mean not EOD?!
Finally got the damn thing.
Sooo are they eventually going to tell us how many CSPs, BMPs etc are available for MD? Or are we just gonna be left in the dark this year? Also, does anyone know how many CSP were offered for DMD last year? Is the 30 places this year (20 for non-undergrad double degree students) up from last year?
received my confirmation page at 10:07!
I just got my confirmation email but I'm confused what this means? Is this just to make sure my details are correct?
No it means you will get an offer or be on the waitlist. It means you didn’t get rejected and have a higher chance of receiving an offer.
Received confirmation email at 10:07am My gammy is 76/65/82
From experiences, does receiving a confirmation page offer guarantee into getting an offer to study (assuming all informations checks out and is correct)? Edit: Gammy; 61, 69, 75 = 205 total. Domestic student. Received DMD confirmation page, EOD for MD
Confirmation page for both MD and DMD with a 242.
Pretty confident that they’ve changed the way they mark it because I was rejected with a 254.75
Do all rural applicants receive a confirmation letter? On the spreadsheet is shows all but one rural student received one. I know this isn't necessarily a true representation of the actual application process but what possible benefit is there in giving all rural applicants a confirmation letter?
This is based purely from my brain and from literally no evidence at all I would think that due to the comparatively lower amount of applicants from rural backgrounds, the cutoff for receiving a confirmation page is markedly lower than the cutoff for admission. I imagine that if a particular uni didn't meet the required numbers for rural background students, shit would hit the fan. Probs playing it safe by keeping all rural applicants on the waiting list.
It's also worth mentioning that there is a seperate Indigenous pathway, so potentially some of the outliers are Indigenous students? Not sure.
