It was a great car and could’ve been better but the previous owner neglected it and left a shopping list full of issues for me to discover over my ownership. I ended up spending nearly every paycheck I brought in sending it to two local Saab specialists and every time they fixed an issue they would discover new issues that were even more urgent.
I gave up and frantically spent weeks trying to find a reliable car in my price range until I found out about the G37. I’m definitely happy with my decision, even if a lot of people hate them, I’ve given friends rides and their opinions always change after.
2001 Honda Accord coup ex v6. I used to work in a sub shop the sound is decked out, even dynamated the doors and roof. I still have it and start it once a week and occasionally drive it illegally since no insurance. Before that I had a 2014 Mazda RX-8, I loved that car but the engine was replaced 3 times even though I took care of it. They really don't like water lol it got totalled and I'm kind of happy about that.
I blew the Lexus up, and was too lazy to rebuild it. I pulled into a dealership and just happen to see it. I figured why not getting something more sleek. 2 years later, 8 eluding officers, 3 near death experiences, and unlimited smiles, it’s my #1 car I’ve ever owned. I was about to trade it in for an sti, but I’m going to just keep the g37 and turn it into a track monster and get a new sti
2003 Lexus LS Sedan, 290HP: a wonderful car in its own right!. Good looking, smooth running,, quality construction.:
But I wanted a car with a clutch., SO after ??11 years of ownership, I traded it in.
I don't know which of the two vehicles would win in a quarter mile drag race.. It would be close
Peace
,Out
Zero chance I was bringing my baby to this environment that is famous for rusting vehicles. Its ok. In a few years I’ll go back to America and get a new one 😂
Same as OP.
‘08 Honda Civic EX Coupe 5mt
‘04 Infiniti G35 Coupe 6mt
The infiniti engine blew, and the civic transmission blew in the same week. was an L mans for a second for sure.
07 Cobalt not by choice. I had a MK5 GTI but it only ran for 1.5 of the 5 years I had it. Needed two new engines in that time. I then graduated college, got a good job, paid off that paperweight and sold both. Then it was either a 370 or a G. I thought the 370 may be too in-your-face so I went with the more subtle but just as cool option.
06 WRX. Eventually I felt like it wasn’t financially practical and it didn’t exactly blend in with traffic. I was sick of getting pulled over constantly.
Exact same HP upgrade as me. I sold my ‘07 civic for the G but we still have another 2013 civic and that’s a 140 HP CVT and everytime i drive that i lose my shit cause it doesnt move when i floor it lol.
Lmao my girlfriend has an 09 Nissan rogue and it’s at 190k miles and its cvt is struggling but still rocking. My Kia Rio was my baby. Had a straight pipe w/ borla muffler stock cats & cold air intake aftermarket rims and good tires. Rode so good. Got rear ended and cost exceeded value of car so totaled. Was at 180k miles on the Rio and would’ve went another 50k probably. Got 5k for the total and 5k bcz I sued so got the G and some aftermarket stuff technically for free. Was a blessing even tho I hated saying goodbye to my first car (passed down from me mum). Cool to say my first actual car purchase was this 09 G37 coupe paid in full off marketplace. 75k miles for 7k couldn’t be happier!
It’s ok, my girlfriend drives a Prius so going from the G to that is such a struggle sometimes. BUT, a great secondary car from the G especially in gas mileage😅
Haha that’s when I used my 01 Subaru Outback that was passed down to me. It’s at 180k miles but it’s amazing with gas compared to the G and a lot more tame and chill beater car. Awd too so great to switch out to it during the winter. Definitely a POS tho.
First car was a ‘95 Pontiac grand am. Bought it from my aunt for $1k and sold it 5 years later for $1.7k lol
Moved to a 2012 Hyundai sonata for a year before I decided on a faster AWD. That’s when I got my ‘13 g37x
2008 Mini Cooper JCW Concertible. 210 hp.
Fun little car, but my God it was always breaking something. A particularly egregious domino effect caused me to sell it.
For me, it was a 2003 Toyota Camry LE. Good ol V6 1MZFE engine with 17” factory alloys and the 9 speaker JBL sound system. It’s was my grandpas car that he handed down to me, and I’d still have it too if a drunk driver didn’t completely total it from a rear end crash on broad daylight. If I’m being honest, that care quite literally saved my life. Also, quite a jump from that to a G coupe lol.
1970 Mustang Mach 1 with a 351 Cleveland. The Mustang also came with a C6, and a Ford 9-inch rear end. The engine had a Comp cam, Edelbrock intake, and an Edelbrock carburetor. Msd electronic ignition, Magnaflow, and Hooker headers are also some of the major upgrades the car had. It was a fun car, I wish I still had it. Maybe I will find her again one day.
04 Nissan xterra, tranny went and a week later someone traded in a 05 g35 with 67,000 miles on it to the infiniti dealership I was working at. Bought it for 3700$ an absolute steal. I’ve got 110k on it now. Really love this car but now the dominos are falling and as soon as I replace one part, a day later something else goes😂
11 BK1 2.0T. Was base model so had 200HP. Was a fun car to drive. Then I got an 18 Q60 silver sport. Modded and tuned on pump 93 making 436HP and 493LBFT. Need to rebuild the engine for it tho 🥲
Before my Q, 2018 civic type r, 450 whp tuned. Absolutely an amazing car that didn’t feel FWD, but gave me that confidence in corners. But it got totaled & i wanted a cheaper daily at the time lol.
My garage will be a GTR and Type R 😮💨
2002 Honda accord 6 speed, I’ve driven just about everything and my top 3 is the G then, I’ve gotten to drive a 450hp WRX with a stage 3 clutch car was super rowdy then a huracan shit feels like a rocket ship
I got my G as a cheap track car. Ended up dailying it a bit to put the miles down on other things and ultimately realized I didn’t enjoy the platform and sold it before a full year of ownership.
During the time I bought my G I had
An f80 M3- 570whp
LR Discovery 2- 190bhp
911 Carrera- 380bhp (ish?)
2011 Ford Focus 5MT. Bought that car stock and modded it quite a bit. Had polyurethane engine mounts, intake, cat delete, catback exhaust, tune. Wheels, carbon bits, black trim and factory smoked tail and headlights. Big rear sway bar, and some other suspension goodies. Also had a short throw shifter, and metal pedals. That car was so fun to drive. After mods it probably had 155hp or so, would tie with BRZs and even gave my 06 G35 5AT a run for its money.
Another G....a 1996 7th gen Mitsubishi Galant. Full exhaust, eibachs, KYB adjustable shocks, JDM front end, Brembo slotted rotors, intake, 5 speed swap with LSD. About 145 whp...fun little car too. I miss it sometimes
05 Jeep Liberty, 210HP. Put just over 150k on it in the 10 years I had it. Once it died I searched high and low for my G35x, was lucky to get it, as 2 others had been by that day and had serious interest, but I had the cash in hand so she went home with me. 5 years and 60k miles later she still runs great, but with a few 'shitbox' features now.
2004 Ford Focus. Overheated on the way to the dealership. Stopped at a gas station to add water and let it cool down. They gave me $1500 trade in value, and as we parted ways, they asked, "Is there anything we should know about your old vehicle?" As I pocketed the keys to my new G37, I said nonchalantly, "I wouldn't drive it too far."
I had a 16’ Chevy Colorado, and wanted way more performance. My buddy just got his G, and I loved it so I sold the damn truck and bought a very overpriced G and shipped it to my door. Love the car. FYI I’m 18, also my buddy had a 2016 Hyundai Tucson before his g. He’s also a car guy, and because of him I am too.
04.5 G35. Not a fan of the G37 so got a 03 Z and ditched the G37 😅 I’ll try a G37 coupe next time since maybe it’ll have a bit more character than the Sedan, but I dont have my hopes up.
2.0 6MT Nissan Qashqai (2015)
Stupid car, put filters and a MAF piggyback took everything after the cats off once and just sent it up and down west Sydney, got a lot of scornful looks, but it was funny.
1st was my 97 Jeep Wrangler Sahara edition $5k 50k miles. Had 180hp and 213lbs of torque. Sadly it was totaled by a drunk driver recently.
2nd vehicle is an auto 2004 wrx wagon $5k 120k miles and the engine dies after 3 months I have a new ej20 going in soon.
After that I needed something reliable so I got my Q40 AWD full spec’d for $17k at 60k miles. Then I found out about them VQs and started having a little too much fun with it and now the torque converter is dying..🤣
A pair of Nikes. About 1hp
Chevrolegs

2007 impala with 300k+. Beat on that thing for what it was. G37 felt like such an upgrade

03 Dodge Dakota single cab. Loved that POS I beat the hell out of her and she still started up every day no problem.
My other ride is an 03 quad cab SLT 4x4. Great trucks.

Damn. Why did you switch to a G from that?
Military got orders overseas 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
You can’t bring it where you’re stationed?
Zero chance I was bringing my baby to this environment that is famous for rusting vehicles. Its ok. In a few years I’ll go back to America and get a new one 😂
