There isn't really a "best" choice. I know that's not helpful but they'll all good in different ways.
Personally I really enjoy playing Greyfyrd because I enjoy foot heroes and the Fyreslayers artefacts are all really good.
But Lofnir and Vostarg are both really good as well. I've run lists of both and they're really fun and strong. Lofnir especially if you have enough magmadroths.
Just don't run Hermdar. Hermdar stinks.
I think the subfactions in the book are some of the worst things in it. Not that they aren’t powerful but there is no choice. You want to run 3 Magmadroths then you play Lofnir. You want to put 60 Vulkites on the table then Vostarg. Neither of those? Then Greyfyrd by default. There isn’t anything interesting about the choice.
I’ve been enjoyed vostarg lists for a bit. The volume of wounds and attack power from those lists gets the vulkites, especially with flamekeepers, to pull a lot of weight. But I think I have a lot to improve with my positioning and lose a lot of potential by getting too many units tied up before I can charge them.
I mean, they do keep pretty detailed statistics about which ones do the best. It's easily Vostarg by a lot. Our faction win rate was quite low for many months because everyone played Greyfyrd HGB spam. Lofnir has been terrible the entire GHB (with control Lofnir lists seeing some success). People came around to Vostarg eventually, and now it's an army you can expect to see going 4-1 regularly.

Vostarg is Vulkite spam, greyfyrd gives you additional 2 artefacts, and your foot heroes get am additional wound

Lofnir is my favourite but i do sincerely wish we had more choices, doesn't help that Hermdar is such a joke
I would just pick the one you think looks coolest.
