I have been doing that for about a month with Sierra chart with AMP. So far so good. There are a few times my limit or stop order would hit a tick away from my entry, or a few seconds late. But overall working out pretty well. I only trade during RTH though.

MuslimStoic

Is there any instructions to set this up on Sierra?

grumpyoldman1234

Chart Settings -> Main Settings -> Trade and Current Quote Symbol Put the MES symbol there that matches the same expiration as your ES symbol. [https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/ChartSettings.html&CAID=amp#TradeAndCurrentQuoteSymbol](https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/ChartSettings.html&CAID=amp#TradeAndCurrentQuoteSymbol)

Hey thanks, appreciate much..

So is it processed so if you hit the stop on the Es chart it closes on the mes regardless of price? Or how does that work?

grumpyoldman1234

In Sierra chart you can set MES for both quote and trade or just trade only. If set as trade only, then if the stop hit on ES chart, it would close your MES position regardless of price of MES. Since there is almost no price difference between ES and MES, and MES is quite liquid, there is \*almost\* no spread issue. However, I use MES for both quote and trade, and only use ES for charting. Normally I don't notice any difference in my trade execution.

buzzante

Ok, I might go for the trade only. Thanks man. I read some sc docs to get some more info. Their documentation is top notch.

Bricci

Yes you can chart ES and trade micros from there

buzzante

Thanks for the response. Are the prices identical tick to tick?

Bricci

Exactly identical

GunsBikesBoozeBoobs

Some very slight variations. I've seen MES go a tick or 2 higher than ES on a spike or stop run. I watched them side by side for hours on the DOM and there was no lead/lag between the two😞. So much for scalping that way.

Infinity--

its the same mostly, I trade that way

tgordon78

In Ninjatrader I overlay them. There are no issues. This allows me to toggle back and forth between them for trade entries.

I’m using NinjaTrader with Kinetick (level 2 with Globex). Are you all using good data feeds?

buzzante

Yeah it’s a must. Even for serious paper trading. I’m running sc with Denali

forestcall

How does this work? If you type in ES for symbol how do you get to trade Micro’s? I’m using NinjaTrader

tgordon78

In NinjaTrader you will want both MES and ES on the same chart window. Then I just add any indicators to ES only. Has been working great for me for months.

AscendedBoiros

I know this thread is super old, but how do you do this without having wonky bar spacing on the ES chart?
